Traded for a bottle or two of this many years ago, I believe this is the 2004 release.
Appearance - a slight haze to this tangerine/gold brew. A thin finger of white bubbles away fairly quickly but does manage to keep a scant cover for a while.
Aroma - sweet caramel and orange, light yeast and phenols.
Taste - starts out a bit pilsnery, but sweeter in the malts.Obviously, no bite in the hops at all some nine years later, yet the dryness of the style allows for good balance anyway. The yeast and phenols cut the sugar quite well, and the aftertaste has a really nice level of throat and belly warming. The end is easy, pleasant, warm, very nice.
Mouthfeel - crisp, thin, medium-bodied.
Overall - definitely aged longer than the recommended max of six months, but it tastes super. As a lighter tripel on the abv side, you should be so lucky to even have the option for a second or third of these in one sitting. Here's to Sawyer, may we exhibit similar courage when we need it most.

App- Freshly squeezed orange juice mixed with some yellow and golds. A bit unfiltered and a bit cloudy. No real head formed but had a nice ring of bubbles. Very small amount of cling towards the end.
Smell- Standard triple notes, but a bit faded. The yeast is still there with a small backing citrus note.
Taste- It was a pretty good triple. I just dont think its aging all that well. I am glad I got to try it as I love the style, but its a bit sweet with a softer yeast note. Has a certain flavor I can't put my finger on. The flavors are seeming to me at least of pullling apart a bit.
Mouth- A lighter medium body with a low-medium carbonation. Seemed a bit sweet on the finish with a little too much orange/lemon juice flavors.
Drink- I love the cause that this supports. I would gladly buy this beer again. It was good. I think I am just being nitpicky about it because its Stone and I love what they do.

A: The beer pours a clear golden orange color with a tall white head.
S: Reeks of sugar. Cloying as any beer I've smelled with over ripe bananas and spices being the only break from the sugar (not that they really help much). Bubblegum and cotton candy only add to the problem.
T: This is so sweet, it's almost got a grainy texture to it. Sugar, sugar, and more sugar with cotton candy, bubblegum, and overly ripe fruits such as bananas and apples. A strong spice character of clove that is also unpleasant.
M: Syrupy with medium carbonation.
O: Unenjoyable on all fronts. I know it's sort of a dick move to bash this beer considering its purpose, but it's just not good.

Picked up a bottle of this one at the brewery, as I had never heard of it and it was for a very good cause. That said, this one poured a dark golden color with a billowy white head. Aromas of candi sugar, yeast, clove and lemon zest. On the palate, this one is light to medium bodied, with flavors of candi sugar, yeast and Belgian spice.

Draft service into a half-pint goblet at Stone Bistro.
A: Clear, medium golden color with one finger of diminishing white foam head. No lacing remains on the glass.
S: Light toast is obscured somewhat by bright esters, wild mint, and fusel alcohols that impart occasional whiffs of solvent and urea.
T: Begins barely off-dry, with lightly toasted malt, delicate herbs, and some snappy anise that lends an edge. The trend is toward increasing dryness, becoming more clean, with a burst of bright apples and pears in the middle. It finishes with restrained bitterness amidst more herbaceous spice. Alcohol is occasionally detected, adding a spirituous quality that is consistent with the style (but seems inconsistent with the mildness of the other flavors found here.)
M: Thin to medium viscosity, feels more substantial on the palate than it tastes, with moderate carbonation.
D: An interesting take on the abbey tripel style--more like a tripel lite--whose sensory qualities come totally unexpected in a beer from Stone. It drinks easily enough, and leans toward the lower end of the abv range for the style, but flavors seem muted and lacking interest compared to other beers of the style. In fact, this beer may be one of Stone's mildest, tasting less assertive than the pale ale. Definitely rare and probably over-rated, Sawyer's triple is the least likely beer to be judged a Stone brew in a blind tasting.

On tap at Stone Winter Storm 2011. Advertised as the last keg of Sawyer's Tripel! Seems to me like Stone has some explaining to do to Sawyer's family.
A: Transparent golden with a white head.
S: Sweet bready malt with a prodigious amount of banana and a little clove. A touch of honey is noticeable, as are alcohol and coriander. Quite aromatic, with notes of orange and dried mango.
T: Slightly spicy up front with notes of clove and white pepper. Coriander makes a strong appearance, as does banana. Malt is bready and moderately sweet with a slight sugary note. Alcohol is noticeable but not out of line. Fruit is reminiscent of orange, melon, and mango. Finish is dry.
M: Medium body with upper medium carbonation. Mouthfeel is dry, creamy, and sticky.
Overall: Sort of a cross between a Wit, Hefeweizen, and a Tripel, but a good beer and enjoyable.

I bought two of these at the brewery about 6 months ago after our tour guide told us Sawyer's story. I had one soon after, and now the second one is poured into my Chimay chalice. Reading the story on the bottle again, and drinking this tasty tripel really makes me wish I had purchased more at the time.
A: Golden orange hue. Minimal head and lacing to speak of.
S: A very fragrant brew. Cloves and faint banana nut sweetness on the nose with a floral alcohol backbone.
T: I can tell this is a Stone brew right off the bat (hop character maybe?), but it is definitely true to the Belgian tripel style (with a SoCal touch). The malt sweetness sits on the tongue, but the yeast (i think) gives a alcohol bitterness that spreads around the whole mouth and makes the deliciousness stay for a while. Soooo yummy.
M: Medium-light body with alcohol hotness. Carbonation takes a back seat here, but still lets you know it's there.
D: I could go for another bomber. Especially because I'm a sucker for consuming things of which the proceeds go to a good cause. Fight ALD!!!
