Stopped by this brewpub one Friday afternoon in summer 2004, during a 'muscle car' show. The pub is conveniently located near other fun activities in downtown Ann Arbor and a parking ramp across the street means you won't have a far walk. The place was packed and I had to wait for a seat at the bar. While noisy, I was able to strike up a conversation with people on each side of me. For service, I had to watch the bartender and flag him/her down when an opportunity presented itself. Considering the oldies car exhibit out in the streets, I'm guessing that my experience is probably not representative of service typically available at the Arbor Brewing Company.
They offer a large selection of beers (brewed and commercial), I tried their porter and their IPA. Both were pulled from a cask and were quite flavorful. The porter was potently coffee tasting with some chocolate hints and the IPA is creamyish smooth due to a 6 month cask conditioning prior to serving. Pricing was better than I anticipated, being it was happy hour (large glasses were running the price of small glasses). The only bottles available for carry-out were the IPA, which I was quite happy to purchase. I did not try the food, but it looked and smelled divine as I watched the waitstaff pass by carrying plates to other destinations.
In summary, a nice pub in a convenient location with quality beers served in a friendly environment. A place I will definitely return and am comfortable recommending to you.

First visit to Ann Arbor and this was favorite stop. Nice pub like atmosphere with some nice signs/memorabilia on the wall. Good balance of appealing to younger college crowd but yet being serious about the beer. Had a full sampler of 10-11 beers and service was curt but very efficient. Was not very crowded and can imagine it would get pretty nutty on football weekends. Food/menu looked pretty solid although we did not get anything.
Brewing is taken seriously and the beers are given thorough, accurate representation on the menu/signs. Not all beers were served as absolute peak temperatures but overall pretty good.
Will definitely get a repeat visit.

This Pub was more of a British Style brewpub than a restaurant. The service was quick and very friendly. Lots of beer flowing and laughter echoing throughout the place. I didn’t try the food, but I didn’t see anyone complaining.

The best brewpub in Ann Arbor in my opinon. They serve a wide variety of beers. Stout, Weiss, Maibock, Special Bitter, Cask Porter, Cask Conditioned IPA currently served. Belgian Dubbel & Tripel and Doppelbock styles served in winter. Growlers are available for $4 container fee + $9-$13 to fill. Beer outshines the food but it is still decent pub fare. Burgers, sandwiches, low fat, pasta, shepherd's pie, and many other foods available. Very family friendly. I notice quite a few families with kids on weekends. Dart boards and televisions usually showing local sports events. Outdoor seating available on nice weather days. Sponsors tastings frequently. Probably weakest point is the atmoshphere. It is OK but nothing special. Although it is a good place to drink and have a conversation with friends. The beer is the attraction. Faircy-Fest Irish Stout recently rated 92 (Exceptional) by Beverage Tasting Institute - see in All About Beer May 2002.
Edited review 11/16/02 I was a bit harsh on atmosphere.
