This was an extra from the ever generous Romulux. Thanks for introducing me to another great brewery I've never heard of.
Darkish rusty brown, and hazy. The head disappears as fast as Cantillon, but it leaves more lace.
Musty, funky nose, smells like vinegar and fruity hard candy. Very dank, kind of like Avery Brabant, but much less bold. So yeah, pretty nice.
Very rich, complex, and tongue twisting. The strawberry and raspberry tastes still remind me of candy from a gumball machine. Could use a little more sweetness for balance. Well integrated flavors, but too much acetic acid character for me. Slightest hint of adhesive. Finishes long, dry, and rather clean considering the initial impression.
A little more carbonation and they would have nailed it.
Despite flaws that are easy to point at, I really enjoyed drinking and trying to figure out this beer. The vinegar aspect doesn't ruin it like some Flemish reds I've had lately, and I bet a lot of people will love this. Also, very impressed that this is the first sour beer they have ever done.

750ml split and poured into a snifter. Vintage 2012.
A: Pours an opaque bright orangish ruby with minimal white head. Some small chunks of dark fruit floating around. A spot or two of lacing.
S: Load of fruit upfront, raspberry and strawberry dominate. Very much like a raspberry puree. A touch of tart funkiness in the background as well as oak.
T: As anticipated this is one tart brew. Like the aroma, raspberry and strawberry are the focus of this beer. Reminiscent of a gueze. Oak does make it through but is fairly faint in the background.
M: Puckering tartness, medium carbonation and body. A bit of stickiness after swallowing but still feels fairly clean.
Overall one of the fruiter wild ales I have tried. It has some great tartness that will really pucker you up. A must try for any fan of raspberries or strawberries.

Thanks to alelover for this beaut - 2012 vintage:
Nice pulpy dark orange body with a minimal amount of head retention... fizzing away within a minute. Sorta looks like a glass of apple cider.
Fresh acidity - pear and apple skins. Some lemonade type aromas. Not nearly as sweet as I'd expected.
Nice and tart - dry and citric. The sour aspect of this beer is about as focused as a gueuze... super funky, super refreshing.

Pours dull maroon with a small white head that recedes by the time I sit down.
Funky aroma with fresh fruit jam smells.
Lots of fruity jam in the flavor too. I get more of the strawberry than raspberry, but both are present. More funky than sour, although there is a bit of tartness. Brett melds well with the berries and a little oak is present too.
Light to medium bodied with smooth carbonation.
Solid beer and pretty good sour. Nothing earth shattering, but a nice blend of fruit and brett.

Thanks for sending me this one, Jay! Split with friends.
A: Pours a hazy dark iced-tea color with a thin light red head.
S: Strawberries and raspberries all the way. I get notes of straw and earth as well. Sweet smelling.
T: Clean fruity taste. Raspberries and strawberries follow the nose. This beer isn't especially sour but there is a touch of refreshing tartness.
M: Medium-full body, drying, but not a desert. Carbonation is low.
O: Very flavorful and easy to drink. A moderate sour but I would definitely drink this again. Thanks, jbck109.

extra from andrew, thanks. raspberry is substantial in the aroma. Slightly red body, with an average head. Raspberry is the dominant taste, somewhat sour like vinegar, but brett smoothes it out. Very Decent drinkability. I wonder how this one would age.

Thanks to Derek for the bottle and Richard for sharing.
Pours a bright reddish-pink with a short lived white head. Smells of the raspberries that were added to it. Definitely a bit of vinegar and maybe some other light fruit notes. A touch sweet, too. The flavor is sort of a mix between soda and sour beer. Highly carbonated with good raspberries and a sharp acetic sourness. A little bit of strawberry in there too, maybe some grass.

Bottle to snifter
From notes. Thanks to Mark, Garry, and Steve for the hospitality while visiting HopCat in October 2011!
A: Roasted dull red. Half (soft white) fingernail head on gentle pour that disappears in the blink-of-an-eye...POOF - gone!
S: Loads of funk with sweet fruit purée (mostly strawberry and raspberry). Hint of oak and maybe even toasted nuts.
T: Crisp and tart. Loads of raspberry with a wonderful 1-2 punch of sweet and sour. The oak balances the beer very well and it is quite enjoyable, but definitely different.
M: Light body and soft, soft carbonation.
O: This beer is hugely different than anything I have experienced before, but definitely in a good way! The complexity is fierce and it develops quite a bit as it warms. Great job for a brewery that doesn't focus on this style of beer.
