Located in Broad Ripple, a sort of funky independent neighborhood on the North side of Indianapolis, Broad Ripple Brewpub has that neighborhood gathering place feel to it like the pubs of England I imagine this pub is supposed to resemble. The bar itself looks to have been fashioned from an old house, with separate rooms, hallways, a sun room (which was clearly an addition) and a very small curved bar situated in the middle of pub itself. The entire pub is fairly dimly lit with a well worn feeling to it.
Went on a Friday night and there wasn't an empty seat in the house. In fact, it was a very mild March day and the crowd spilled out into the parking lot. The crowd was mostly jovial with a good mix of young professionals, grungy locals, and urban families.
The beer itself was generally of decent quality, with all of the beers leaning towards the British style. Considering this, it shouldn't be overly surprising that the better beers were the British beers, most notably the Porter on cask.
Food was much like the beer, being pretty good, but far from great. Sausages appeared to be sourced locally and both the bangers and bratwurst I tried were of excellent quality. Sides on the other hand were lackluster: fried veggies were limp, greasy, and soggy, while the mashed were both gummy and lumpy.
Prices, on the other hand, were downright cheap with the total bill for 3 meals and 4 beers being a mere $50.
Overall, not a bad place, but unless I lived in Broad Ripple itself, I just couldn't see frequenting here.
Kid friendly. Child menu available.

This place is a little bit hard to find, tucked away in the middle of some residential areas. The atmosphere was neat - the place is divided up into several small dining areas with a bar and an outside eating area. They had probably eight or ten beers on draught and plenty of commercial bottles to choose from. The flavors of the beers were great, but they all came out almost completely still (uncarbonated). My saison was flat as well as the red and the ipa that my friends got. Not sure what was up with that. We had some appetizers and food as well. I wasn't impressed with the food. The service was adequate, but they didn't pay us much attention.

I've only been here once but it left a very good impression on me. The people are nice, the waitstaff is good. The atmosphere is great. The beer is amazing; I had a few and they were not bad as far as price goes ($3.50 - 4.50). I ordered fish'n'chips and they were excellent. Service was a little slow but that's what you expect at a place like this. It's in a nice quiet part of town and is definitely worth stopping in at. My favorite brewpub is Three Floyds in Munster, IN and I would say this is at least 85% of that establishment! For me, that's saying a lot. I will be there again.

Was in Indy for vacation and stopped by for lunch during the week. We entered and the sign said seat yourself so we did. 5 minutes later and we noticed the wait staff were attentive to the patio but had not stopped in our room (See the other reviews about the layout of this place). So, we moved to the patio. I don't mean to sound judgemental (I will anyway) but the staff looked like they were part of a prison-release work-program. Our waiter was nice enough but very slow. We weren't in a hurry so it worked out ok. I had the 7-beer sampler (Their pils was out), and the smoked turkey salad, with mango. Beer was great, food was good, price was reasonable. I would recommend you stop by, just don't do so if you are in a hurry.

BRBP is a comfortable, clean pub that attempts to bring new flavors to its patrons (remember we are in Indiana). It was the only brewpub I knew of in the state for quite some time and the experience shows with the selections that are frequently available.
IPAs, ESBs, seasonals; beer fans will find something to whet their appetite here. And that's a great thing, considering the food is quite good. Case in point - Scotch Eggs! What better appetizer whilst enjoying a pint than an order of eggs? None!
You're a cask ale man, you say? BRBP has at least one at all times. I'd get a Braunschweiger BLT to go with it if I were you. Enjoy!

Went here on a Sunday night. The place was not too busy as you'd expect for Sunday. Had a great little atmosphere. Reminded me of an old irish pub. Located on a back street, had low lighting and lots of wood.
Sat at the bar, had good service, mostly because there wasn't many other people there. Bartender seemed fairly knowledgeable about the beers they carried there. The quality of the beer was questionable. Tried a couple of them and really only enjoyed Wobbly Bob.
They had about 10 different beers available, two on cask, which seemed awesome, but only one was available. Decent variety of styles represented.
Overall, a decent place to visit, but probably wouldn't go back just because of the beer. Friendly patrons and bartenders.

Wife and I stopped by on our way through Indy.
When we arrived at the bar, we felt pretty invisible. No one greeted us and we were sitting at the bar. 3 people walked by without even a glimpse.
Finally (about 8 minutes later), we were greeted by a nice bartender. She promptly served us and was very efficient. She even offered us a copy of some crossword puzzles to do at the bar. What a great idea.
It is a very homey place with a fireplace and detailed ceiling. Their is even a separate room for steel tip darts and the patios are split with one side being smoking and one side non-smoking.
The area around the bar is artsy and another brewpub is only 1/4 mile away. They seem to offer a Vegan menu and are focusing on becoming a "green" brewpub.

Stopped in for lunch and a pint after picking up a few supplies at the local home brew supply. Nice pub style building, located on a quiet side street, with alot of... well, if I was back in the seventies I would call them... head shops! Anyways back to the pub. There is not much parking available, in the lot of on the street. Inside from what I got to see as I was ushered to what I would call a converted porch away from the main room, had a nice look to it. From what others have posted, it seemed like the service was hit or miss. Well that day it was miss. After setting with our menus for almost a half hour, someone finially decided to see if we would like a drink or food. We each ordered a wheat beer and a burger, and sat for another half hour till they brought us our burgers AND beers. Needless to say we didn't try ordering a second because we didn't have that much time available. Food was plentiful and very good, and the wheat beer was delicious. However they need to do something about their service.I just don't understand how they can let this go on.
So if you want good food and beer, but want lousy service stop on by!
