La Bella's is a Chula Vista institution. It's a great little local Italian joint that's been around for ages. Within the last couple of years, management has changed and they started focusing more on good beer. When I first started going there, over a decade ago, they just had macros. Then one day I walked in after not going there for a couple of years, and to my surprise they suddenly had a great beer list. They had on tap at the time I went, beers from Stone, AleSmith, Ballast Point, etc. All the great S.D. breweries. And several others.
The food here has always been good. Home-made and reasonably priced. They have great meatball subs, and even better pizza.
The atmosphere is very casual, so you'll feel comfortable walking in here in jeans and a t-shirt, if you want.
Definitely a recommended stop for dinner, if you're in the area.

I can't believe that nobody has rated this place yet. Yes, it is removed, being all the way down in Chula Vista, but this is only 15 minutes from Cricket and right in downtown Chula Vista. People here on BA recomended it as a diner and beer stop before a Radiohead show down there and this was a great stop! There are really two places here. Facing 3rd street, you have the 50+ year old Italian resteraunt with a to go front and a few larger rooms as you walk down a side hall, that ends at the lounge. If you go out teh back door from the lounge, you go across a walk bridge to a much newer looking part of this location, which is a giant room with new, clean furniture and fixtures. Between the new building and the old lounge, there are completely different sets of taps, so you may be best served to walk into bith to check out the taps to see which set better fits your needs. We sat in the old lounge and shared a pizza. They have a few macros on tap, but the majority of the taps were dedicated to local craft brews. They also seem to have seevral specials that they run on different days on craft brews, as well. If you ever need to be in Chula Vista for anything or might be going to a show at Cricket, give yourself enough time to stop into La Bella's first!
