500ml bottle. Pint glass. Enjoyed on agt´11. Brigth amber in color. Chill haze. Yellowish off-white froth. Close, small bubbled, crown shows excellent retention.Hop aroma overwhelms moderate toasted malts. Biscuit malts at first sip followed caramel malt, choco malt & dry but gentle underliying hoppiness. Subtle fruitness – citrics & berries- in the middle. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Harsh sweet finish. ABV is felt with spicy touch. Smooth resiny aftertaste. Good drinkability. Pairing: Bacon & cheese sandwiches.

500 ml bottle, at Olympen ("Lompa"), Oslo. ABV is 6.2%. Reddish brown colour, large to moderate off-white head. Moderate aroma, a little malts with hints of caramel, some fruity hops. The flavour has distinct hops (Centennial and Amarillo) from start to finish, with a solid bitterness in the aftertaste. Quite nice.

A clear amber beer with red traits, a dark off-white head, good lacing and some curtains.

The smell is very malty, bread and porridge galore, some raisins and a splash of grape-fruit. Smells like a healthy breakfast!

The taste has a brown bread character, with dried fruits - dates, topped with grape-fruit peels.

Medium carbonation, a robust body and almost coarse dryness.

A good, rather dry, red ale, at De Klomp.

The colour is brown with a tint of red; the liquid is a little hazy. The low head is cold beige. Some lacing occurs.

The smell is hoppy with creamy notes of caramel, grass and butterscotch. Some American citric notes.

The taste is fresh with distinct notes of citric Amarillo hops. Roasted malty caramel-flavours and a clean fine bitterness. I note some spicy and dry flavours of grilled meat. The aftertaste is clean, dry and slightly caramelized with notes of fresh grass and toffee. The finish is rather long with a dry bitterness.

The carbonation is mild; the few fresh bubbles are fresh. The liquid is smooth.

Red ale is not my favourite style, and although this one lacks the dusty notes I sometimes find in them, this one lacks something. But I'm not really sure what's missing.
