Got this from a beer of the month club...
Pours dark amber, with a good head. Strong aroma, floral with a lot of sweetness. Flavor is tilted towards the spices, with a good mouthfeel. I'm not too big on this type of beer, but this is definitely a good beer. I probably wouldn't buy a six pack, but I would definitely get a pint if I saw it in a bar.

I've bought this every year since it's been available -- surprised to find I've never reviewed it. Maibock is probably my favorite style next to Oktoberfest, and Sprecher beers have been a favorite since 1985.
A -- Clear, deep amber-gold with a long-lasting, firm, cream-colored head.
S -- Mildly fruity and spicy nose with bready maltiness making up the backbone.
T -- Bready maltiness up front with some spicy hops following through and the yeasty breadiness in the finish. There's a definite spicy-bitterness that lingers through the aftertaste.
M -- Mouthfeel is soft, finishing dry, with a medium to light-heavy body.
O -- This isn't as smooth as some Maibocks to be had, being dry in the finish with a mild astringency from the dryness. But the malty goodness of the beer makes this a great drinker for anyone craving a Maibock this season.

16 ounce bottle into lager glass, bottled on 1/26/2012. Pours lightly hazy golden orange color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of carbonation streaming up retaining the head. Aromas of caramel, apple, pear, toast, toffee, biscuit, light nuttiness, floral, light pepper, and herbal earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, pear, apple, pepper, toast, toffee, biscuit, light nuttiness, floral, and herbal earthiness. Lingering notes of caramel, light fruits, pepper, toast, toffee, biscuit, light nuttiness, floral, and herbal earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice flavor balance with good complexity; good amount of robustness; and zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy, smooth, and fairly crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with nearly zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice maibock! Very nice balance and robustness of flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering; and great example of the style.

A: Sraw yellow to pale sunset orange color. crystal clear with no haze or sediment. A constant half finger of soft pillowy white. Chunky lacing down the side of the pilsner glass.
S: Clean fruit like esters. Spicy hop character. Sweet with a hint of bread.
T: A clean sweet and grainyness with bread crust and lingering toast astringincy.
M: light clean body with a high level of carbonation
O: Very easy drinking Maibock with no alcohol hotness like I usually get with the higher end of this style. The graininess was a bit astringent, but I can deal with it because of the crispness and cooler temperatures.

This bottle was over a year old, so I expected it to have lost some flavor. But it seems to have endured pretty well and I adjusted my ratings upward to account for the knowledge that it was over a year old. It poured up a deep golden color with no head, and no lacing. The nose was pears and floral. Mouthfeel was a bit average. Taste was a surprise to me. The front end was very sweet with a honey like flavor and the finish had a respectable hoppy bite which was well balanced. I'd love to get a newer bottle of this, because even being old, it was a winner.

Gotta love the Sprecher fat boy bottles. Pours out a dark gold color, a nice sizeable 1" head on it, average lace and retention. Cereal grain lightness and lager yeast aroma.
Grassy, hay type taste with actual recognizable hop character, a little weird for a German influenced brewery in Wisconsin, but nonetheless, a way of making it appeal to the more hop headed minded palate that can't stray from hops. Prickly at times.
I found it good enough, wouldn't hesitate to pick another 4 pack up for a warm spring or June day. Good stuff if you're down at Lake Michigan or playing volleyball at Summerfest.
