Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.
If I could find this stuff on cask at some ransom British (or British-style) pub, that'd be something, wouldn't it? Anyway, this stuff pours a clear garnet-topaz topped by a finger of glowing off-white foam. The nose comprises tea, watered-down coffee, buttery biscuit, and a touch of toffee. The taste holds notes of caramel, cola, light molasses, brown sugar, and a touch of sweet greens. I like my tongue's interpretation a lot better than my nose's... The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a lightly oily feel (luckily not oily enough to make things unsettling for me). Overall, a generally nice brown ale, one that doesn't make many friends with its odor, but one that makes up for it with a warm heart and kind demeanor..

Sampled as part of a flight at Sprecher's in Wisconsin Dells. Pour was coppery brown with a thinnish head that left some lacing. Lightly malty, bready nose. Taste was similarly of biscuit and crackers malt, lightly nutty, lightly sweet. Medium to light mouthfeel. Decently carbonated. What they have created here is a decent Newscastle clone. Not a bad brew at all, but not sure if I'd revisit it in the future.

Appearance: Very much brown with a two finger off white head that is very foamy.
Aroma: Caramel malts, light rye, mild notes of pumpernickel and a twinge of molasses. Faint bits of plum and grape skin.
Taste: A little bit bready in the front mostly from the caramel malts. Hops are lightly roasted that are more towards the floral side. Rye and pumpernickel are present. Some molasses and a wisp of plum. The finish is a bit dry which is certainly not a bad thing a good bready bite.
Notes: Quite drinkable and rather hearty. Cheers.

Pours a decent 1 finger fizzy head that fades semi slowly, with bits of lacing, over semi clear mahogany golden brown color, looks slightly watery with the clarity it has.
Nose almost comes like a Kvass, with lots of husky straw, grass, wet hay, hint of toasty bready malts and biscuit, light brown caramel malts, and an English malt juiciness.
Taste is similar, but a bit more flavorful, with some toasty brown malts, bit of caramel and a very light molasses, even a light honey flavored candy like taste. Light husky straw malt and hay flavor, and a light bready biscuit malt. A fairly strong honey bread like flavor. Finish is slightly dry, toasty bready malts and honey, caramel, a bit of a salty taste as well.
Mouth is med bodied, decent carb.
Overall meh, not really my style, similar to a Kvass with the husky straw and hay and hints of honey bread, but a slight caramel and toasty flavor, fairly meh overall.

Reviewed from session notes.
A. Clear mahogany color with a single finger of cream colored head that stays for about a minute and leaves behind decent sheets of lacing.
S. High levels of toffee, caramel and toasted nuts, all kinds of nuts. A very rich aroma indeed.
T. Similar to the nose, toffee and caramel maltiness abound, with lighter amounts of brown sugar and tea-like hopping accentuate the malt party.
M. Light and somewhat too fizzy for my tastes, but that's really a minor flaw.

16oz. bottle poured into a tulip glass
It pours a deep amber/red with a cream colored, soap bubble head on top. Minimal lacing.
The aroma screams out rich toffee and caramel malts. The malt aroma seems a bit aged and has a faint wet cardboard factor to it.
The flavor confirms that beer is on the older side. I'm still reviewing it as I seriously got this bottle as a sample from the distributor today, so that's what he's selling. (I just looked it up, it was brewed nearly 2 years ago, 43rd day of 2010!) Sweeter medium bodied caramel malt flavors with that signature oxidized malt flavor I get often in actual English brown beers. It's still not offensive, just not a bright a flavor profile as it should be.
The mouthfeel is a little flabby and finishes quite watery which is detracting from the beer in a way. Overall it's just decent, I feel that if it was a bit fresher mid 3.5's might be a closer score for it.

Clear reddish-brown, good initial head, some lacing.
Bread, toffee, and nut aroma.
Bread, caramel, nut, fruit cocktail syrup, and floral hops. A pleasant blend.
Medium to thin mouthfeel, average carbonation.
I liked the flavors in this, on target for the style and highly drinkable. Not an extreme beer, but a subtley well done one.
