Presentation: On tap @ The Gingerman, Chicago, IL.
Appearance: Cloudy caramel orange in colour with a tightly carbonated creamy off white lace that sitcks.
Smell: Sweet malt, touch of raw grain, clove and big banana aromas.
Taste: Slightly twangy upfront with a nice floral/citrus hop bitterness. It doesn't last long as clove spice notes quickly break things up, followed by the malt ... which is unexpectedly sweet and caramel-like, with an underlying fresh grain flavour and crispness. Notes of ripe banana blend nicely with the malt character, rounding them off. Mouthfeel is smooth, slick. Body is close to medium and consistent. Finishes with a touch of grain dryness on the palate.
Notes: The balance on this brew is perfection, and the malt richness stands out as a nice twist on the style. Thoroughly enjoyable and recommended.

I'm on vacation in Wisconsin and decided to give this local brew a try. Poured from a 16 oz bottle - unfortunately, the bar only has pint glasses.
Decent head, typical hefeweizen aroma. Definitely has the expected sweetness and spice, but missing a distinguishing flavor to make it stand out (i.e. banana, clove, etc.).
Beer became flat shortly after initial pour, but I'll blame that on the disparate glassware. Overall, a decent but run-of-the-mill hefeweizen.
Low % ABV and generic taste make this a safe, albeit unexciting, choice.

Weeell, I probably should have started with this rather than the scotch ale/IIPA, but hey, a few bites of an excellent portabella wrap & cheesy potatoes, & my palate is as fresh as spring rain. Six ounce taster at the Wisconsin Dells Sprecher Brewpub.
Pour is all hefe, light, filtered, golden. Nose is clove, spice, wheat.
Sprecher Hefe Weiss is a truly ho-hum take on the style. Wheat, check, cloves, check, bit of spicing, check. Nothing stands out, none of the tastes crackle, it's just what it is.
Routine, decent hefe. Nothing to set this apart from every other hefe on the planet, this is strictly average.

Had on tap and an asian tapas restuarant recently. Went surprisingly well with the food.
A: Nothing special really..decent for a hefe..a little too clear for me. Looked like it was going to taste a little bland.
S: Smelled great. Faint notes of ripe bananas hiding behind fresh baked bread, biscuit malt and a crispy, wine smell.
T: A good, solid hefe. Very easy to drink, with a crispy mouthfeel and a creamy finish. Nothing bitter or bad going on at all. Hints of barley sugar, bread dough and ripe fruit.
Overall: Nice. I like Sprecher, they're doing some great domestic brewing and they're underrated on this site if you ask me.
