Appearance: 16oz twist top bottle with no best by or bottling date. Pours black with a brown head, that does not get very high, and dies down to a thin covering. No lacing while drinking.
Smell: Malts, alcohol, caramel and a slight sour smell at the very end.
Taste: Water, coffee, malts, and bitter chocolate. I was hoping this beer would be a little sweeter. I found the taste to be a bit biting. The aftertaste is of bitter chocolate and watery coffee.
Mouthfeel: Watery and carbonated, the mouth is left feeling dry, and watering.
Drinkability: I was disappointed by this beer, I was hoping for a sweeter stout, but this beer is watery and with an aftertates to match.

Poured from a growler into a pint glass.
A
Dark opaque with a thick three finger head due to a vigorous pour. Lacing does noy stick to the sides of the glass.
S
Smells like a mud puddle. It is an earthy aroma. Not sweet or stoutish.
T
Simple and laid back. Not a lot going on.
M
Light carbonation. Thin but not too much for a stout.
O
Not a favorite. But a straight forward stout.

A: Very dark brown pour iwth a medium-sized and dense light brown head. Fades at a medium pace, leaving a decent patchwork of lacing behind.
S: Odd meaty aroma with some soy sauce. WTF?
T: More meat. Tastes like I'm drinking a steak. A little soy sauce follows. Ends with a hint of coffee bean. Strange.
M: Medium bodied, relatively smooth.
O: I'm assuming (hopefully) that this is some sort of brewer's mistake. It tastes like soy sauce and beef. Not really a pleasant taste or aroma.

Reviewed from session notes.
A. Opaque black with a short-lived single finger of tan head that fizzles out in about a minute without any lacing left behind.
S. Mostly licorice aroma with lesser amounts of chocolate and coffee. Some dusty roasted malt aroma also appears as the glass warms.
T. Somewhat simplistic compared to the nose. Straightforward charred malt and bitter coffee. That's about it. I'm not quite getting the typical acidic tang that most Irish Stouts have from this brew.
M. Fizzy, prickly carbonation on a lighter side of medium thickness body.

I had this on-tap at the Sprecher's Restaurant and Pub in Lake Geneva, WI for $5 in early 2012.
Pours a black color with a creamy, fluffy head. Has a strong cocoa/coffee scent. Texture is thick, creamy, and robust. It was a little thinner than I expected but still very flavorful and filling as the robust flavors overwhelm your taste buds. Definitely a must try!
