Made the drive down to Port Huron from (just west of) Toronto to get my hands on some of the good Michigan craft beers that aren't availabe in NY (Bell's, Founders, Dark Horse, etc.).

I went to 4 different places, some of which appeared to have potenial from reading on line reviews and if not for Ryan's, the entire trip would have been a waste. The other places had very little selection. None of them had a single Founder's Beer and most of the Bell's stouts were nowhere to be found either.

Then I walked in to Ryan's as my last stop, already disappointed and feeling like I had just wasted a whole day, but Ryan's changed my mind right away. They had Hopsalm, Founders Breakfast Stout, Foudners Double Trouble, a wide variety of Dark Horse stouts and some other very interesting Michigan beer that I hadn't seen anywehre else. They also had a great selection of Great Divide, Avery, Victory, and other US micros along with a lot of great Belgian and other European beer.

The customer service was amazing too. Sammy (hope I spelled that right) was one of the most friendly and helpful store owners I have ever come across. He even offered us a free snifter each after we had purchased about 4 mixed cases of beer from him.

I would definitely go back to Port Huron just for Ryan's Party Store. And that is saying a lot because there isn't another store there that I would go back in to, even if I was already in town to visit Ryan's.

Definitely the class of the town.

Never having been to Port Huron before, I pulled out my iphone and found Ryan's Party Store on a beer advocate search. Being a musician I've had the opportunity to travel a lot, and Ryan's was one of the best experiences I've had with a liquor store on the road, and definitely a place I'll return to next time I'm in the area. When we pulled up to this rather unassuming place I was hoping the reviews about the good variety were correct, and I found them to be very much so. The selection was very good for a place of it's size. Even though I have seen stores with more labels, they had a very carefully chosen assortment, with a impressive amount of high end beers. The gentleman we spoke with was knowledgeable, and very helpful. He took the time to talk with us, and make some recommendations of some beers that do not distribute to Missouri. Overall the prices were a slightly higher than I'm used to paying in Kansas City, but they were not unreasonable. They had some great beers on sale also. We ended up with a bottle of Bells Oracle, a 6 pack of Shorts Mystery Stout, and a Avery Samaels, which made for a great night.

This was the last stop on our way back to Canada from visiting Michigan for a beer haul. A decent selection for the beer they do have, but I found the prices be at least three dollars more on a lot of bombers then I had found at some other places in the state just down the highway. Even the 4 pk's and 6 pk's were a couple dollars more. They did have The Oracle, so I grabbed one bottle of that and a 4 pk of Founders Breakfast Stout. A good selection for Michigan beers and even some California stuff with some other states too. Not a bad place and good selection, just wasn't too impressed with the prices.

Definitely the best place to go within the area (which otherwise is pretty lacking).

Huge selection of the ever growing number of Michigan micros - with most all of their offerings - Short's, Dark Horse, Dragon's Mead, Ann Arbor Brewing Co., Atwater, etc. In addition to that, there are all of your usual national micro characters, ie. Great Lakes, Dogfish Head, etc. Finally there's a good amount of imports too if that's your thing. Blanking on the selection as I usually check out the Michigan offerings.

Beyond that, Ryan's has a knowledgeable and friendly staff that are more then willing to knock out a few recommendations. Definitely worth checking out!

Possibly the best place in Port Huron to get beer, it doesn't look like much until you get to the back aisle. Lots of singles and six packs, DFH, Stone, lots of Belgian beer, Founders, Southern Tier, Rogue, Bells...too many beers to choose from.

The service is decent, they seem to know what they're doing and they know enough about beer.

They also have some glassware, mostly Unibroue which is pretty cheap, like 2.99 for a nice glass.

Some of the beer is a little pricey, most of the bombers are around $8 on average, but still I would take a store like this over the LCBO any day!

This seems to be the best place to get craft beer in Port Huron, and is very close to the bridge from Canada.

It's your basic American liquor store I'd say, with the entire back row stocked with craft beers. Very good selection of bombers, 4 packs, and 6 packs. Mostly american craft beer but a decent selection of Belgians as well. Some of the beers are refrigerated.

As a Canadian the prices seemed high to me, but I really am not that familiar with how much beer normally costs in the US. For 4 bombers, a 4 pack of KBS and a 6 pack of Founders IPA the bill was just over $60

I stumbled on to Ryan's through my girlfriend, I live in Johannesburg Michigan and she lives in Port Huron. She knows how much of a Hop head I am and she was picking up some water for work and noticed their beer selection so she picked me up a six of Hop Slam for my visit. I had to see this place she was talking about. Wow what a great little store, they are a party store that sells everything from Cigars to tuna fish and everything in between. Their beer selection is one of the best in the area and for it being a small establishment it boasts about 50 or 60 different beers and one of the best selection of IPA's I have seen. Their selection of Belgium beers is also one of the best in the area and if you can't find what your looking for ask and they will find it for you. If they don't have it they will try to order it for you. The service is superb, their prices are reasonable and they are super friendly and very helpful. I would recommend Ryan's to everyone who is in the area looking for a great selection of good brews.

I live across the river from Port Huron in Canada, and our beer selection is ABYSMAL. I decided to try this place out after reading the reviews here.

Not an enormous selection like i'd hoped, but 1000x better than what I can get at home. I was suprised to see a nice Belgian selection, but most of the micro stuff focused on Michigan and other US brewers ( which is fine with me)

I expected the prices to be much lower however, so i didnt get the haul that I hoped. I only ended up getting a bottle of St bernardus Abt12 (9.99) and a Stone Double Bastard (7.99)

I'll definitely be back to get some Michigan stuff in the future, since its the only way I can get non-canadian craft brews

Though I've been a loyal customer for a couple of years now I just realized that I've never got around to giving the store a "review".

The best and most well rounded selection of beers in the area. They go above and beyond what other stores around here that deal in craft beers when it comes to selection, service a knowledge. Great guys to shoot the bull with when it comes to beer. This area is sort of isolated from metro area so a lot of specialty/craft beers that would be found in the closer to "the big city" (and are distributed to Michigan) are hard to find but they go that extra mile in getting in stock in their store.

Prices are pretty much in check with everyone else in the area and a lot of the times even better.

In a town like this we're very lucky to have them here.

Stopped by this place for the first time in March, 2008. I was very surprised by the quaity and selection of beer at this store. I had a long talk with the owner of the store and he seemed very interested in the Craft Beer Scene and he carried a good selction of local Michigan beers as well as some hard to find imports.

Since Port Huron is on the Canadian border and Ryan's is close to the bridge, I believe the good selection of beer is generated by the infulx of Canadian beergeeks rather than consumption by the locals.

If you are in town, give this place a look. The owner's are friendly and are making an effort to offer good beer in a small town.
