I had this on-tap at Jackie O's this weekend during the release. Poured into a sample glass.

Appearance: Pour black with a layer of tan head that fades to a ring around the edge of the glass.

Smell: Sweet with roasted malt and tons of coffee. There is also a nutty quality here.

Taste: Sweet coffee dominates with some dark chocolate and mild alcohol as well. The nuttiness carries over from the smell with a roasty coffee finish. Quite good.

Mouthfeel: The body is thick with smooth carbonation and a slick finish.

Overall: One of the better coffee stouts I have had. The nutty undertones and sweetness balance the roasts flavor well.

This was the first beer I ordered the night before the Jackie O's release. Was really excited to try this one...and had it poured into a snifter.

A: Pours a gorgeous black, with creamy, thick dark khaki head. Nice and thick/viscous.

S: The smell is absolutely unbelievable. I once homebrewed a coffee stout in which I added to the beer a concoction of vanilla beans, coffee, and bourbon. That concoction was one of the best things I ever smelled. Well, this is what this entire beer smelled like. Rich coffee, bourbon, sweet toffee, and roast.

T: Equally impressive, but you have to let this beer warm up. The second half of the glass was much better. Perfect harmony of coffee, chocolate, bourbon, and roasted malts.

Overall, this was special. Glad I got to try this!

Oil of Aphrodite brewed with Kopi Luwak coffee beans. Surprisingly, no semblance of weasel poop to be found...

Looks thin and black with a short cap of tan foam.

The aroma is pure coffee. Dark espresso and heavily roasted beany notions.

The flavor kicks it up a notch with the usual Oil accurements - dark walnnut and sweet fudge. Very tasty with strong coffee overtones.

Silky smooth. Very nice.

Thanks to UrbanCaver for sharing this at Kuhnhenn Winter Solstice. Served in a plastic cup.

A - A dark tan foam settles to a thin collar, leaving behind some splotchy lacework. Black body with a glint of brown at the fringes.

S - Big, intense coffee aroma, roasted nuts, heavily roasted malts, more coffee, and light smoke. The coffee flavor is delicious, although I'm still unconvinced I'd be able to pick Kopi Luwak blind out of a lineup of high-end coffee.

T - Taste is pretty similar, with rich high-end coffee mingling with smooth dark chocolate, rich caramel, roasted nuts, dark fruits, and even more coffee. Bitterness is surprisingly moderate considering the coffee and walnut adjuncts.

M - Typical viscous, milkshake-esque, Oil of Aphrodite body, with a low level of carbonation, silken texture, and minimal alcohol presence relative to the ABV.

D - Great beer. The coffee overpowers a lot of the flavors I found in the base beer, but they're still there in the periphery. A wonderful treatment of an excellent base beer - highly recommended. I was sad that it was only 1L growler.
