1 pint 6 ounce bottle
Served in a snifter

A - It is a hazy golden color. A center pour yields minimal off white head.

S - I get some pear and lighter fruit.

T - The pear theme continues. I get no spice or much else. It is not overly complicated.

M - Moderate and very smooth

O - It is not spicy or over the top. It is simple and very good. I could drink this anytime.

22oz bottle (291/360) served in a snifter.

L - clear orange/copper color with a thin white head that became a thin ring.

S - slight vinegar, white grapes and pear.

T - I'm getting the vinegar along with a pear flavor, there's honey in here?

F - medium bodied with very mild carbonation.

O - maybe this was oxidized(?) but it was drinkable and quite different.

consumed on 7/5, while I was "on Hiatus." big thanks to marty30 for the amazing extra!!! enjoyed from my jackie o's tulip.
Bottle #9/360

a - brew poured a transparent orange with a minimal fizzy bubbly head. The head was gone quick hardly leaving a skin of tiny bubbles. lacing is minimal but leaves spots here and there. doesn't look the hottest for a tripel.

s - nice belgian yeast. honey is also evident on the nose. smells rich and thick.

t - again, belgian yeast candiness. honey is there.

m - rather thick and rich. not syrupy, but not far from it...

o - overall, clearly an american take on a belgian classic. few american brewers capture the nuances of the belgian styles like the originals. when they do you can't tell the difference. this brew is clearly an american take. it is not bad by any stretch of the imagination, but if you are looking for classic, look elsewhere...if you are looking for something a bit richer and thicker with a honey twist, then this beer is calling your name!!! overall, good for an american take.

I poured into 2 tasting snifters, nice golden pour, plus sized white head. The aroma is sweet, lots of spice. A very nice golden ale, tons of Belgian yeast, pleasant sweetness, lingering finish. Neither me nor my tasting partner could pick up much honey. A very easing drinking, refreshing triple. Very glad to have tried it.

A: A hazy orange pour with a large, dense slightly off-white head atop it. Retention is top-notch and the lacing is quite solid.

S: Orange, honey, grass, bubblegum and cloves. Pears too as it warms. Sweet.

T: Lots of grass and cloves up front. Some orange and pears with a nice honey finish. Yeasty bread throughout.

M: Medium bodied, pretty smooth.

O: A good tripel, a little non-traditional but there's nothing wrong with that. Honey was a nice touch. I actually liked this a touch better than the barrel aged version, the bourbon drowned out the tripel in my opinion.

22oz bottle courtesy of bstaffor in the willpower LIF. Bottle number 5/360. Into a NB Globe. This is also the first Jackie O's beer that I've ever had as well.

A: Pours a hazy orange color with a stark white head that bubbles up to half an inch and then completely disappears leaving a few spots of lacing behind. Color is fairly dark for a tripel, but looks alright, really would like more head, and head retention.

S: Fairly spicy Belgian yeast strain, some cloves and a bit of bubblegum, some slightly boozy notes, and just a touch of a slight tartness as well. Fairly floral, and a touch of spicy/earthy hops. Bottle notes Saaz as the hops and there is a pretty distinct woody/cinnamon/tea like character that is in here. Pretty nice here.

T: Yeast shines pretty nicely here with a lot of cloves and spiciness, fairly grainy malt profile and a ton of honey flavors. I know that honey is pretty much 100% fermentable, but there is a really nice interaction between the honey and all the ingredients to create a tea-like flavor with a strong honey addition. I get a little bit of tartness on the finish, not sure if this is intentional or not, but it works in this beer. Fairly sweet beer but finishes with just enough bitterness to round things out. Really a complex, and enjoyable beer.

M: Medium bodied, but the carbonation is really low here which aids in giving this beer a heavier mouthfeel than it should. Finish needs to be a little drier as well. A touch of warmth in there. Would like a little more carbonation for once.

O: A pretty good American tripel, I really like the way it tastes but the mouthfeel is a bit off and so is the appearance. I like my tripels to finish nice and dry like most of the Trappist's, and this one is just on the sweet side for the style. Carbonation needs to be up a bit more as well. Still a very flavorful beer. Glad to try it!

Reviewed for the Blind Beer BIF #6. 22oz bottle poured into a snifter

A: Golden orange hue. Limited amount of head, but swirling the glass garners about 1/2 fingers worth (3.5)

S: Hay and yeast. Some minor passion fruit. Possibly a little bit of funk. I went back and forth between this for a while as sometimes I got, sometimes I didn't. Peanut? (4)

T: Yeast is most prevelant. Has some peppery spice to it. Orange/lemon rind. Definitely a light amount of funk going on here. Not really strong enough to be a gueuze, so maybe a funky Saison/farmhouse? (4)

M: Medium bodied. Big carbonation initially, ultimately smoothing out. Peppery, dry finish. Soapy coating of the mouth (4.5)

D: Really digging this beer. Has a nice complexity about it and just enough of a funkiness to keep me coming back for more, but not ruining my palate (4)
