Bottle shared by keefD at our recent La Crosse sour tasting, thanks Keith! Split into some snifters with a few people:
A - Dark brown, plum color at the sides. Redish hues and that nice purple highlights. Light carbonation with a few bubbles on the outside.
S - Great cabernet notes. Red wine dominates, followed by sour cherries, cranberries, plums, purple grapes and a nice funk.
T - Red wine, cherries and sour funk. Plums, acidity, cranberries and oak. Bits of vanilla scattered throughout.
M - A pretty sour, drying feeling with some tartness mixed in. The carbonation is not too bad.
O - Really an interesting sour to try. Most of the featured brews we had at our tasting were more light in color and flavor, while I guess this one could be considered the dark sour of the party. Really great and worth trying again.

Thanks to rudzud for sharing. Batch '12 bottle 48/312
Pours almost no head, faint dark bubbles, super dark brown pretty much black colored beer, no real light coming through.
Nose is a mix of sourness, brown malts, fruit, and barrel. Starting with creamy brown malts, caramel light brown sugar, toasty brown malts, faint cocoa, into barrel, vanilla, oak barrel, toasted oak and almost candy vanilla, touch of red wine, and then into sour cherry, tart balotin like cherry with hint of cough syrup and candy cherry. The more I smell the cocoa comes out a bit more, like choc covered tart cherries, light creaminess and hint of lactobaccillus funk.
Taste is just as complex. Malts first, light toasty brown malts caramel brown sugar etc. Then a nice cocoa flavor, dusty cocoa powder and hint of melted bakers choc, into barrel with lots of vanilla and toasted barrel, faint dusty shelf. Then cherry, tart sour cherry, candy cherry with hint of cherry cough syrup, syrupy too, as well as creamy and funky lactobaccillus. Finish is sour tart cherries at first, then nice creamy chocolate porter and light vanilla oak barrel, with a sticky syrupy light flemmy lacto funk lingering, and later some nice earthy bitterness, and a bit more cocoa.
Mouth is med to fuller bodied, creamy, but little carb.
Overall quite nice, starts with sour tart cherry, moves to nice chocolate porter, and rounds with a vanilla oak barrel. Nice beer overall, good cherry and chocolate, nice barrel, tasty. Only complaint is lower carbonation.

Thanks to miketd for the hookup, shared with JLindros and poured into a Kate the Great tulip. Bottle number 48/312
A - Poured a deep dark almost black pour with big brown bubbles that move to form a thick bubbly halo.
S - Aromas of nice Cabernet barrels and sour candied cherries lightly funky brett and sour lactose. Nice faint chocolate notes on the end, most are overwhelmed by the sour cherries.
T - Taste is creamy milky sour lactose. Good candied sour cherries, lots of red wine here, quite vinuos here with good oaken barrel notes. Slight chocolate roasted malts on the finish with a light bitterness. Starts like a cherry wild and ends like good porter. Nice transition.
M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated and smooth and creamy. Goes down easy.
O - Overall this was a solid Jackie O's beer but mot my favourite offering. Like how the cherries mingle with the porter. Good brew but not sure if id go for it again.

22oz bottle (vintage 2011 - bottle #255 of 384) poured into a New Belgium globe.
A - Red on the pour...settles into an almost opaque dark brown/black color. Low tan head lingers briefly and leaves only a small collar and no lacing on the glass.
S - Tart cherry, vanilla, lactic sourness, confectioners sugar, milk chocolate
T - Same as aroma...more sweet vanilla, lots of lactic tartness, lingering tart cherries, chocolate
M - A bit thin in body...tart, lactic, light carbonation, touch of leather
O - Nice beer. Interesting lactic sour combined with tart cherries. Lingering fruit and chocolate...good dessert beer.

Big thanks to James for this one!
A: Pours a rather dark brown color with no foam or lacing. A very thin ring of bubbles forms around the edge.
S: A bit of cherry and red wine up front which transitions into a bit of chocolate and faint roast.
T: Nice cherry flavor upfront, slightly tart with a bit of funk. Definitely has the tannic quality from the red wine barrels. Just a bit of roasted malt and chocolate mixed in, but very much in the background.
M: Light to medium bodied with low carbonation. Slight vinegary/pucker on the finish.
O: I liked this one a good bit. A little more carbonation may have helped, but really dug the wine barrel influence.

This beer was served chilled in a snifter.
A- The body of the beer is black with a very thin head. The head quickly resolved into a ring of foam. No lacing noted on my glass.
S- The aroma of tart and sour cherries rise out of my glass. This is a good thing for a beer that is named Cherryman. Vinous and acetic lactic tones ride along with all the cherries. The underlying beer kicks just a hint of chocolate.
T- This beer is all about the tart and sour cherries married with wine. I am by no means a wine expert but I do enjoy the flavors that wine barrels bring into the flavor. The beer seems to be a bit tannic at times. The base beer seems to be swallowed up into the sour and tart flavors of this beer but I like it.
M- The body of the beer is almost medium. The carbonation is a bit low. Perhaps a bit more carbonation would lift this beer up?
O- I really enjoy Jackie O's barrel treatments of beers and wouldnt hesitate to try or buy them. This beer is no exception. A few tweaks with the base beer and a bit more carbonation would make this beer fantastic.

22oz bottle poured into my 512 glass. Dark brown in color with just a trace amount of a head clinging to the edges of the glass. Very still looking beer overall.
The aroma shows a lot of funky, sour fruits to it. The sour cherries really stand out in it. I get a little bit of the vinous, wine qualities to it, as well as a hint of the chocolate in the base porter. I really liked the sour cherry flavors.
The taste shows a little more of the wine barrel influence in it. Again, the sour cherry flavors are the real stand out to me. It's got some really great sour flavors without becoming very acidic at all. The sour cherry and red wine flavors are really good, but it does seem to lack some of the complex funkiness the best of the style have.
The mouthfeel is medium bodied with carbonation being very low for the style. It was almost flat, which didn't really work that well for it at all.
Overall, it had some really good flavors to it. The lack of carbonation did hurt it for me though. It also seemed to lack depth to me in that there wasn't any real funkiness to it. It just seemed a little one dimensional with the sour dark fruit flavors. I really did like the red wine influence and sour cherries though. Pretty enjoyable beer overall. Some better carbonation and a little more funk and this could be great. As it is, it's not quite there though unfortunately.
