Just like the world's largest beer festival, our little brewrey has Bavarian roots and a long tradition of honoring tradition. Which is why we made this märzen-style with German-grown Hallertau tradition. If that doesn't make you polka dance for joy, we don't know what will.

Pours a copper-amber color with excellent clarity; small, off-white head fades fast. Heavy, malty aroma; caramel and toffee with a slight tartness to it, and some grains in the background. The taste has a slightly metallic flavor that is a little off-putting. It comes hand in hand with an apple skin and grape-like sweetness that hits immediately but fades quickly. Caramel malt undertones play throughout the whole sip. Grains are heavy in the aftertaste, toasted and bready. Very low hop profile in this one, maybe some dry florals in the background but at this point, it's a stretch to even say that they're really there. A mild cheesiness comes out as it warms up, again, a little off-putting but not so much as to make it undrinkable. Some leafiness in the very back end of the brew, but it doesn't feel very "hoppy". An astringent bitterness lingers afterwards, with some fading malts and yeast. Thin body, a touch of creaminess, but overall pretty thin with medium carbonation.

Eh, not awful, but not something I'll be likely to revisit. A couple weird off-flavors keep this one from being a solid Oktoberfest. Definitely many better options out there.

Sweet season marzen purchased at an H-E-B grocery store as a single bottle.

Look: Conveys an orange-y, transparent look. Light head that quickly dissipates. Some carbonation. I like the packaging; it looks nice.

Smell: Caramel malt and sweetness on the nose. A little bit of biscuit / toasted bread.

Taste: Caramel sweetness. Malt. Definitely on the sweeter side of some marzens I've had this season.

Feel: Feels like drinking beer. I could have crushed this in a fraction of the time it took me to write this quick review.

Overall: A nice drinker; not likely to get it again, though if it were the best option at a low-bar restaurant or something I guess I'd order it over the mass-produced mainstays. Glad to have; glad to move on to the next unique beer.

Looks like a Marzen. Smells like one. Tastes mighty fine, like a Marzen. Feels like one, too. Overall, a nifty Marzen, Shiner-style. Prost!

Bottle into pint glass. Pours a deep gold color with a persistent off-white head. Not much lacing. Initial impression is roasted malt and a bit of caramel. Mouthfeel is crisp and medium-bodied. Finish fades to a slightly sweet caramel. Overall, it's drinkable but not memorable.

Clear bright amber color with a respectable and lasting head.
The aroma is toasted caramel malt and a hint of brown sugar.
The taste is lightly sweet toasted caramel malt, slightly metallic with a bit of herbal hops in the finish.
The body is light/medium, moderate carbonation, smooth and fairly drinkable.
Altogether, this is a modest attempt at an Octoberfest, solid and drinkable but nothing special.

Look: Clear amber with a white head that dissipated quickly.

Smell: Pretty sweet up front with roasty and earthy notes blending in.

Taste: Follows smell pretty well. The aftertaste reminds me of a cheaper lager, which I didn't love.

Feel: Medium body, normal carbonation.

Overall: Solid, drinkable, but nothing to write home about.

I had high hopes for this brew. But alas, I am again disappointed. I'm a regular drinker of Shiner Bock. But thus far I have not been impressed with any of their other brews. This just continues that impression. The flavor was a bit muted and flat. Not at all like a good Oktoberfest. Drinkable. But why? When there are so many really good fest beers to be had. Why settle for a merely average beer?
