This beer is a crystal clear gold(bright). It has a small head that fades fast. Nice sweet malt aroma with a bit of hops in it. I don't detect any adjuncts in the flavor at all. I would say this beer is true to style. Very good malt and hop balance and extremly easy drinking. Leaves a little residual sweet flavor on the palate. I hope Shiner keeps this beer around.

Pours to a thin white head that dies off to almost nothing. Clear golden color. Lots of carbonation bubbles, but still no head? Aroma is not very strong but what little is there is malty and sweet with a slight butteriness that i don't mind at all. Flavor is clean and malt dominant with just enough German hops to balance. The hop presence and the overall look and smell disappoint when it comes to the style. I like the taste as a beer drinker, but as a judge I have to knock off points. I regularly drink beers rated this low with no problem. Easy to drink and very "sessionable". Not bad but has some technical glitches.

12oz bottle barely past its prime (a best by date of 03/04/2009), into a Pilsner glass.
Pours a clear, pale golden body with an overactive carbonation level. Not much head to speak of, in fact what little amount of off-white foam that did show up quickly vanished to nothingness--Nada. Zilch. The smell is nice, but nothing to write home about. A hint of corn cereal here, a touch of sweetness from the crystal malt there. A slight balance from some German hop varieties, but they've certainly faded with time (thus I adjusted my score accordingly).
Tastes like an over-carbonated Miller Lite (WITHOUT the triple hops!). Some cooked corn, rice, and cereal, very little sweetness or zestiness. Ugh...pretty unimpressive stuff all things considered. Body is uber-fizzy and paper-thin, with a slightly metallic finish. The carbonation level reminds me of seltzer water, imparting an almost sour note to the experience. Now, this wasn't exactly a drainpour for me, but it sure was close. Shiner hasn't really impressed me yet since my move to TX, and unfortunately their Munich Helles is another miss.

Appearance: An almost brass coloring, otherwise known as gold with hints of orange tones to them. Poured a nice head that was gone within minutes. No lace to speak of.
Aroma: Sharp acidic tones covering up whatever grain is there. Hops seemingly not present, unless it's the cause of the acidic smell.
Taste: light, almost waterlike at first. Grain comes a bit later on the finish. Passable, but not a beer to bowl you over with flavor.
Mouthfeel: Sharp at first, but the carbonation quickly fades away to a watery limpness.
Drinkability: I suppose it's okay for a regional brew. But it seems rather unremarkable. Neither bad not good. I won't remember what this tasted like in a few hours.

Bought a bottle of this at the Corner Store. Tupelo MS
Poors a golden yellow, what little head there was disappeared very fast. Smells like a lager, light on the malt, nothing special there. Pretty crisp, the carbonation is just right. Light citrussy malty flavor, a munich lager done right although a little on the light side on flavor. Not my favorite Shiner though.

Reviewed 4/17/2009 (bottle):
Pours a clear yellow colored body, with some white creamy head, diminishing. Has a funky malty wheaty aroma, some nutiness, fruitiness. Fruity malty taste, somewhat fruity aftertaste. Maybe apple, banana, berry? Fizzy, malty.

12 oz. bottle tried 24 May 2008.
Pours with a small light yellow head. Medium carbonation that quickly dissipates. Clear honey golden color. Smells mineraly, sour, like tonic and apple juice. Starts quite sweet, appley. Somewhat grainy. Very slight bitterness in finish. Light body, light alcohol.
Good thirst quencher on a warm spring day.
