12 oz can, best by 7/22/2013. Not sure when it's bottled, but since that's over 2 months away, I assume it's pretty fresh.

A: Nice fluffy white head that dissipates quickly. Clear copper body. Great lacing. Looks good.

S: Bright citrusy hops, wet cereal malt. Nice balance.

T: Mellow hop bite on the front, nice malt backbone at the end.

M: Thin for the style, a little light on the carbonation.

O: Solid IPA. Love the cans. Will buy this more if it's on sale.

Bottle > Sensory Pilsner glass

A - Pours a nice clear gold, two finger head, good lacing
S - Some real nice pineapple aromas coming from this, as well as some floral, earthy, and a rhubarb type malty mix.
T - Things tone down a bit here and its mostly pine you get from the hops and some sweet dried fruit and sweet malt.
M - And things get odd here, it has a largely metallic aftertaste, and is very chewy.
O - Starts out nice, but goes downhill, but that being said, its still a decent IPA, though my qualms with it make me not want to get it again.

Appearance: a very standard looking single IPA. Golden color with some orange accents. Carbonation is average throughout and the head pours at about a finger and a half and is present while drinking.

Smell: The front of the aroma are accents of citrus, mangos, and fresh flowers. The front disappears when getting to the body of the aroma which is of strong pine, resin, bitter hops, and some earthy tones. The finish is filled with caramel and malt. Very interesting overall.

Taste: Right on the front of this beer the pine and resin accents hit very hard. Palette stunningly hard. After the initial punch, a fruity, mango, pineapple, and orange rhine body floats lightly. The finish is a medium bodied malt flavor that goes down easily but leaves a funk on the palette.

Mouthfeel: This is a pretty slow drinking single IPA. The strong pine accents and unique malt finish make this one a slow sipper.

Overall: I went back and forth on this brew, and waited until my last one from the six pack to review it. I couldn't decided whether this brew was something special or a pretty average IPA. I ended up in the middle of those two, this is better then many, but there are also many better. Not exactly a summer IPA, too heavy for a warm summer day of drinking, but nice to end an evening with a little pop.

Consumed 5/13/13

Appearance: Clear, deep orange - some lighter orange and amber highlights - off-white head that fades quickly, but leaves some decent lacing

Smell: Hoppy, in a notably resiny, piney way - pine resin, damp pine needles, herbal, floral, and earthy notes - some citrus rinds as well - pale, caramel, and amber malts - a consistent undercurrent of spiciness

Taste: Resiny with some toasty malts - piney hops, pine resin, pine needles - more citrus than the nose suggested, with grapefruit flesh and rind - floral, herbal, and earthy - toasty, cooked malts - some pale, but mostly caramel and amber malts - some sweetness, and some onion-like character when it warms up

Mouthfeel: Medium body, smooth, lightly sticky, could use some more carbonation

Overall: Worth checking out

This was better than I expected. Both the malt and hop profile are a bit odd, but it's charming in its own way. It has a nice aroma that pulls things together. Not the best IPA I've ever had, but a little above average.

Nice clarity with some sticky head retention all the way down the glass. Not much carbo dancing around the glass.

Smells like orange juice carton and cannabis sort of, sticky ripe mango.

Taste candied orange and peach; it's bitter herbal to boot. Long to aftertaste.

Very nice beer.

notes from 1/28/13. Bauer's on newbury near hynes seems to stock this regularly.
