A - pours a dark ruby orange rustic color with a nice white head sitting atop it.

S - nose consists sweet caramel and sugary malt, oak, and sweet spices

T - caramel malts open this one up. These move on to a spicy character with clove presenting itself as the most dominant of the spices. The spices give way to some syrupy sugary malts that move on to flavors of oak mixed in with a touch of hop and pumpkins.

M - full bodied and smooth; a little boozy as well

D - This is a pretty decent pumpkin beer. The booziness takes away from this being a more drinkable pumpkin ale.

750ml bottle poured into a large snifter.

A: Pours an attractive chestnut color. The cream-colored head initially stands at about an inch and a half high, though it does settle after some time. It can easily be revived with a strong swirl of the glass. Small, patchy specs of lacing remain on the glass.

S: Strong nose of baked pumpkin, cinnamon, faint clove and ginger. Brawny malt scents of brown sugar, molasses, and brown bread. Assertive aroma of toasted oak.

T: A strong hit of pumpkin spice jolts the palate on the attack. Clove and ginger come off a bit strong. Perhaps nutmeg too. Cinnamon brings up the rear at first, but builds until it becomes the dominant spice. Brown sugar and sweet molasses. Slight toffee and caramel. Brown bread and toasted crust. Chopped, baked pumpkin far in the background. Slight suggestion of brown cocoa powder and dried fig. Spicy alcohol presence remains restrained enough that is adds complexity without becoming distracting. Toasted oak cuts through toward the middle and dries things out a bit going into the finish. Finishes with toasted oak, bread crust, faint cocoa and molasses, and slight cinnamon and brown sugar.

M: Robust body sits on the palate with authority, though it never seems too weighty. Chewy and very creamy and smooth. Low carbonation. Very slight heat in the swallow. It drinks very easily for a beer of its size.

O: I love Uinta's barrel aging program, and this beer does not disappoint. This is a big one, and seems to draw much inspiration from the barley wine style. The barrel aging is done right, with the oak character asserting itself without becoming too dominant. The spicing, while initially a bit disjointed and shocking, ended up melting away into the background to provide a nice supporting role. This is easily the heftiest pumpkin beer I've ever had. It's really hitting the spot right now, especially with the threat of hurricane Sandy looming. If you're going to spend a blustery autumn night sealed in at home, this is a great beer to have on hand.

Poured into a chalice a nice deep reddish/amber color, nice carbonation, with a nice little fizzy off-white head, with some minimal sticky lacing left behind. The nose is mostly malty, with some nice cinammon, nutmeg, clove notes. The taste is malty, slightly bitter, pretty close to a pumpkin pie, very slight oak notes. Medium body, ABV hidden very well. Overall a pretty tasty brew for over a year old. This brew was very very hard to get in Utah, considering the fucking place is about 30 miles from my house. This is not the first time Uinta has fucked up getting brew's to people here in Utah/SLC. They seem to care more about getting beers outside of Utah for the last couple of years. Not very cool. For the price I paid, it better have been good. I've got to say, it was really good. It goes down with a smooth creaminess, and that's rare to fine. I really enjoyed that aspect. There's a lot of clove in it, and of course the other normal pumpkin spices.

The appearance is gorgeous. A deep amber orange color with one of the best heads I've experienced.... no, not like that. I think it's where the creaminess comes from. It puffs up a lot at first, and then remains throughout the pint. It's all really great.

Poured from a 750mL bottle into a St. Bernardus goblet. Bottled 7 September 2011.

A: A finger of creamy head and decent lace. Deep ruby-auburn.

S: Spicy pumpkin and lightly tart wine-like scents. Heavy clove.

T/M: It's good. But not great. Light and thin, but the spice takes the place of carbonation in pleasing the mouth. Noticeable oak which I believe contributes to the wineiness. Pumpkin pops up strongly on the end taste. Spice is, at times, a touch heavy.

O: Good pumpkin beer. Mediocre Crooked Line. Would drink again. Tentatively recommended.

17 October 2012 EDIT: Poured from a 750mL bottle into a St. Bernardus goblet. Bottled 24 August 2012.

4.5A: No change.

4S: More strongly spicy (more allspice and nutmeg than clove) and pumpkiny than last's years.

4.5T/4M: MUCH better. Thick, smooth, and creamy. Sweet pumpkin fruit mingles with more tempered spice, but still has a touch of pucker right on the endtaste. I really enjoy it.

4O: Great pumpkin beer. From what I can tell, definitely one to drink fresh. From this bottle, recommended without reservation.

I just had the pleasure of trying this Imperial Pumpkin. I have to say that I am a bit of a pumpkin beer follower. Some are good, some great, some not worth having again.
To me, Pumpkin beer is a great representation of a truly seasonal beer...

I tried this Oak Jacked Pumpkin from a 750 corked and caged bottle.

Poured in to a large wine style glass, the beer appears a beautiful blend of fall colors.

The smell is exciting if tou are a pumpkin fan, which you should be if you are drinking this beer.

The beer has a taste that surpasses the smell, which in pumpkin beers is rare in my opi ion. I have to say that this Imperial Pumpkin surpasses the hype, and is truly a delicious sipping autumn beer.

Do yourself a favor and give it a try.

A: deep translucent ruby brown body, 2 fingers of ivory head, left ample lace; thin filmy lid persisted

S: nice oaky and pumpkin-y sweet, rich malts and hints of holiday spice

T: well-represented pumpkin ale flavors - pumpkin, clove, coriander; fruity and malty caramel sweet, capped with fainter notes of earth and oak; vegetal flavors weave in and out, adding weight and balance to the sweetness and the oakiness.

M: great body, perfect weight, crisper and cleaner than I expected for an Imperial - I'll chalk it up to the oak barrel-aging; wonderful finish left a nice semi-sweet, semi-savory aftertaste

O: I like Imperial pumpkin ales, and I've had a few - I enjoy the rich, strong, and bold pumpkin and spice, and i appreciate the addition of other flavors, like those imparted by the oak barrel-aging, so I happen to have really enjoyed this beer. It is more complex than a Pumking and not as light/bright-tasting as a Smashed Pumpkin; it reminded me of a lighter version of Heavy Seas' Great'er Pumpkin (which is bourbon barrel-aged, and has a heavier and sweeter, almost over-the-top, flavor). What I'm leading up to is that all of the aforementioned beers are my favorite Imperial pumpkin ales, and this beer gladly fits among them. It may even surpass some of them... Bottom-line: a must have for any fan of the style.

Very fresh, brewed on 9/10/12

A: Pours a deep, clear orange with a huge tan/light brown/orange head (it looks different at the top versus the bottom). Fades slowly, nice island of foam remains. Good lacework scattered over the glass.

S: Pumpkin, bourbon and a bit of pumpkin spice. Nutmeg and cinnamon mainly I think. Just a touch boozy.

T: Wow, a really nice mixture of bourbon and pumpkin spice up front. You've got caramel, brown sugar and toffee at first, then mixing with nutmeg, allspice and cinnamon. Pumpkin itself kicks in in the middle with a bunch of oaky vanilla and more of the aforementioned spices. Finishes a little bitter with a brief wave of some unknown hops. Sweet cinnamon sugar lingers in the aftertaste with hints of pumpkin to boot.

M: Heavy, not overly cloying or thick at least. Just a touch boozy.

O: One of the better, if not the best barrel aged pumpkin ales (though, how many have I really had I guess?). Nice balance of flavors. Pumpkin spices aren't too overpowering and neither is the bourbon. It all just works together pretty well.

Love the label, intrigued by the idea of a oaked pumpkin ale. The bottle date I believe was 9/12/12.

Pours a mostly translucent dark red, a beige head tops it off and retains quite well considering the ABV. Sticks around as a patchy cap and leaves good lace.

Smells of pumpkin, spice, brown sugar/baking accessories, some light vanilla, some booze.

This drinks much like a strong ale or barleywine to me. Big on the sweet caramel and butterscotch malts with pumpkin and spices noticeable but taking a backseat. Almost a bourbon element to it from the alcohol heat, a little bit of oak noticeable as well.

Mouthfeel is smooth, lowish carbonation, definitely a bit of an alcohol kick to it but not bad.

Not sure how well the oak barrels were utilized here but it's a cool beer overall - a nice change up from the spices-in-your-face pumpkin ales. Definitely a sipper.

750ml bottle poured into my Pumking glass. It had a darker ruby like color to it with a thin, frothy head to it. Good retention and nice lacing as I drank it. I love the color.

The aroma has a sweeter, roasted pumpkin flavor to it. The spice is actually a little more reserved compared to most pumpkin beers, which I appreciate. I get a little of the woody oak to it as well. There is some brown sugar to it along with the roasted pumpkin flavor. Nice aroma for the style.

The taste again has a roasted pumpkin with some brown sugar and caramel sweetness to it. It's almost like a candied pumpkin flavor. Again, the spices are pretty reserved in it. The oak is also pretty subtle in the flavor, but it does compliment pretty well.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied with carbonation being a little above average. Overall, I really liked it. I especially liked that it wasn't another over spiced pumpkin beer. It tasted like someone sprinkled brown sugar on a pumpkin and roasted it with some oak wood. Very enjoyable beer overall and I really appreciated that it was different from the other pumpkin beers out there.

Picked this up at Bottle Barn in Santa Rosa, CA on 10/3 for $12.49.

Pours a leaves changing colors autumn red with a thin cap of light tan foam. Partial head retention. Aroma is reminiscent of pumpkin pie with a heavy dose of nutmeg, yam, and a dash of cardamom. More pumpkin pie spiciness coming through in the flavor, meshing well with a toasted oak/vanilla. A pinch of cinnamon lingers on in the finish. Medium bodied with enough carbonation to keep the palette refreshed and the lovely aromas perking up from the glass. Delicious blend of pumpkin pie spices melding well with the oak. Might be picking up another one for the cellar.

750mL bottle from Sprayberry Bottle Shop (Marietta, GA). 10.99. Bottled 9/04/12. Served in a Southern Tier Pumking goblet.

Pours deep ruby red with a lively two and a half fingers pale tan head that fades quickly but leaves large islands of lace.

Smells of nutmeg, cinnamon, graham cracker and a bit of veggie/ gourd.

Taste is like a big boozy pumpkin pie. Quite tasty. Sweet pumpkin, cinnamon and nutmeg spice, sweet bread, vanilla, brown sugar and a good wallop of alcohol. It drinks hot but not distractingly so.

Medium heavy feel with light carbonation. Cooling alcohol presence and a long aftertaste.

While admittedly I've far from sampled all that the hoard of pumpkin seasonals crowding the shelves these days has to offer, this is by far the most complex. The oak aging really adds a great depth and I really liked how boozey it is. Alot of good stuff going on. I'm definately going to pick up another bottle or two to enjoy and to perhaps try aging.

A-beautiful birch brown with a thin dark cream colored head

S-creamy pumpkin. Some brown spices. Hint of oak. Medium to good strength.

T-comes in with a bitter taste and boozey taste of roasted pumpkin. Mostly bitter and booze though. The after-taste is pretty much all bitter and booze. Not very well balanced.

M-heavy. creamy carbonation. Semi-dry finish.

O-quite disappointed with this one. Tastes like a boozey DFH Punkin. Not getting the oak that I was looking forward to.

ive been pumped to try this beer for awhile, as the crooked line series has always been really good, and i love pumpkin brews. it pours surprisingly clear, dark orange in color, with a lazy bubbly tan head. lots of little bubbles rising up and a great glow. the nose is very very complex and seasonally perfect. tons of fresh pumpkin and vanilla and oak, a little less on the seasonal spice, but still plenty of nutmeg and clove going on at the finish. the oak has done wonders to this thing, id love to see more pumpkin brews aged this way. its mellow and the squash is allowed to bring all its autumnal sugars and startches to the flavor, which adds a lot. the mouthfeel is nice. not overly full on the body, and good carbonation. the alcohol, which is cleverly 10.31%, is not hardly detectable, which i find incredible. its still a massive beer, but its eerily drinkable. ill be buying more of these without a doubt. this is one id like to share back east over thanksgiving. its a beautiful brew.

S: Smells like pumpkin that's been soaked in molasses. Brown sugar, yams, cinnamon, nutmeg and oak chips as well.

T: Lots of oak right away with some nice pumpkin flavor. Some slight hints of cinnamon and spices with some caramel malt. Mouthfeel definitely doesn't make this beer seem as high in alcohol as it is. Smooth and tasty, but not as much pumpkin as I would probably like.

Oak Jacked Imperial Pumpkin Ale from Uinta brewing company is another treat for this year. Uinta’s Crooked line of beers has its own marketing and has a lineup of big beers with big bold flavors including their all new pumpkin ale. Again this is an imperial pumpkin ale and as soon as you pop the cork on this 750ml beast you instantly can smell the pumpkin pie aroma wafting out of the bottle. The oak is very pronounced and lends a nice vanilla note to the beer and the oak character is very prominent but didn’t dominate the palate. There was enough malt backbone to place all the flavors in balance and included a nice finish of slightly sweet caramel and pumpkin pie that leaves you with a nice warm feeling inside, not to mention a slight warming sensation from the 10% abv.

750 ml bottle my brother gave me this past Christmas. Poured into a DFH Signature snifter...

A - Pours a deep caramel-amber color that is slightly copperish in certain light. A tan, finger thick head forms and recedes to a collar. No real lace.

S - The smell is nice and kind of what I expected. Pumpkin pie spices like nutmeg and cinnamon follow a big hit of vanilla, caramel, some brown sugar and just a touch of oak.

T - Rich flavors here. Butter like flavors of pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon and clove mix with brown sugar and caramel. Some slight oak comes through, but I don't get the "this is an oak aged beer" experience I thought I would.

M - Medium-heavy bodied beer that is chewy and pretty rich on the palate. Lower carbonation and slightly tannic on the finish.

O - Not a bad beer. Nice spin on the pumpkin beer that I am used to. I might revisit this one this coming Thanksgiving.

This beer poured out as a nice looking amber color with some shades of brown in there too. The head was cream colored and foamy looking. The smell of the beer has a heavy amount of spices on the nose, there is a hint of the oak in there too which I thought was a good additional element. The taste has a good amount of spice that balance out the nose. The mouthfeel of the beer has a good amount of carbonation to it with a thick feeling body. Overall I thought this was a very good Pumpkin Ale. I'm happy to have tried it.

Purchased from Healthy Spirits in San Francisco, brought back to Sydney and cracked open with @LaitueGonflable and @tobeerornottobe, just as the weather here turns autumnal.

Pours a deep and very pleasant ruby red colour, brilliantly clear and gem-like. Head is exceptionally thick and fine, leaving gorgeous streaky, but complex lacing on the inside of the glass. Body is fluid, but thick, and supports gorgeous powdery fine lacing. Overall, it's an exceptional looking beer. Great stuff.

Nose is spicy and sweet, with pumpkin pie aromas in force. Nutmeg, cinnamon and a touch of anise meld well with the sweet, slightly fruity pumpkin aromas, and the big organic richness of caramel and brown sugar. There could have been a little more oak, but that might even be asking too much. It's a damn decent Pumpkin Ale nose.

Taste is a lot flatter, and while it incorporates the spice, and indeed perhaps a little of the oak here, it really lacks body and sweetness. On the back, there are flashes of pumpkin flesh, but this is complicated by quite a prominent and pronounced booze character, which stands out all the more for the lack of sweetness. The oak at least is noticeable on the palate where it was absent on the nose, giving a lilting organic smoothness that seeks to, but doesn't succeed in, masking the flat finish.

Overall, I have to say I like it. There are bits that don't work, but it was a worthy experiment, and certainly something I'd be tempted to pick up again. This has about six months of age on it, but it feels like it could probably support even more, which is a good sign of itself. Not the best pumpkin ale I've ever had, but an interesting one nonetheless.

- Aged in Oak Barrels. Bottled 9/07/11. Consumed 2/24/12. 10.31%abv, cute.

A: Dull scarlet red is filled with a lively sense of effervesce. The head is bready, khaki with a good rate of retention. Thin whispy lacing with low vessel coverage.

S: Toasty bread and nutmeg first come out on the aroma, along with dry pumpkin and a dash of cinnamon. Decent level of complexity though strength wise comes off a bit weak. On a side note this is 10.31%abv? Waldo will be much easier to find.

T: The flavor is tasty, toasty caramel sweetness lined with cinnamon and a dash of ginger, clove pumpkin bread and nutmeg brings a nice spectrum of spicing while the malting is sweet and fulfilling. Again hard to believe this is 10.%. Spicy with some dried molasses, french toast, glaze sweetness and light oaky chip notes. Even warm the alcohol is hard to distinguish.

M: Strong level of carbonation brings much livelihood to the mouthful, malty, sweet and spicy with a bready nature and a holiday spicing farewell.

O: Overall very easy to consume, nice spectrum of spicing, not overally exaggerated but rather all working and blending nicely together. Solid sweet toasty malt base finishes out a solid good example.

If they actually nailed 10.31% ABV, I'm very impressed!

Pours a dark, mostly clear orange-tinged dark gold. Tiny floating sediment is present. Couple of fingers of yellow-beige foam. Some fine bits of lacing left behind.

Almost smells like a Belgian with the mix of sweet malt, fruity esters, and spices. Nutmeg and allspice seem the strongest, some vanilla. Fruity notes lean towards cherry, slightly vinous. A touch of alcohol.

Flavor makes me think of a spiced barleywine, probably from the fruity notes hitting the pumpkin pie spices. Quite sweet, a tinge sour, perhaps from vegetable additions. Fruit and sour notes blend well. Big flavor, this could be a Bruery beer. Not getting much from the barrel aging, besides maybe some vanilla. Only getting the slightest hint of alcohol at the end of the finish, impressively buried. Great flavor overall.

Full bodied with medium-sharp carbonation. Drinks kind of thick, but plenty of carbonation to support it.

This is the last beer in the Crooked Line series for me to try, and it is my favorite. Although it's in a different class, I'll say it's much better than their Punk'n ale as well.

Poured from 750ml into snifter. Warmed to 50s/60s during review.

Pours with a short off-white head over an orange to amber body. Touch of lacing

Aromas are nice - lots of natural pumpkin and/or squash mixed with brown sugar, vanilla, nutmeg, and then a chemical quality that takes the aromas down a notch.

Flavors are full of spice - lots of nutmeg and cardamom, followed by flavors of butternut squash, molasses, and brown sugar reduction. Thick and chewy mouthfeel. Fair amount of roasted malt in the finish.

A pretty decent - but not great - imperial pumpkin.
