This tasting is being conducted side-by-side: Uinta's 4+ Punk'n Ale next to Wasatch's Pumpkin Ale.

Wasatch pours with no head, just a thin, filmy lace, as compared to the generous, light and frothy head on the Uinta that is almost an inch thick. Wasatch's is unfiltered, which I lean towards, and a good pumpkiny murkiness fills the glass.
Appearance: Wasatch +1 for being unfiltered (nothing but bias here, I know), Uinta +2 for a great head. Uinta wins.
Smell: Wasatch has the unmistakable smells of 1. nutmeg and 2. cloves over pumpkin. Smell on the Uinta is much more subtle, simple pumpkiny. Wasatch +1 for great smell.
The Wasatch has a lighter mouthfeel with higher carbonation. Uinta very light carbonation, but nice, smooth body to this one. I'm not sure which one is preferrable overall, but again, personal bias kicks in and I'm going for the beer with more carbonation. Wasatch +1 for mouthfeel.
As for taste, the Wasatch is by far superior. It has great pumpkin spice flavors and goes down smooth as (pumpkin) pie. The Uinta Punk'n is good, but the alcohol is more prominent and it's just a little too astringent and phenolic. It's lacking in those exciting flavors that the Wasatch offered. Wastach +2 for taste.
Drinkability follows the taste, and I have much more desire to keep on drinking the Wasatch. +1 Wastach.
Overall score:
Wasatch Pumpkin Ale: 6
Uinta 4+ Punk'n Ale: 2
(Unbiased score: Wastach 4, Uinta 2. Wasatch still wins).

Reviewed from notes. 12 oz. glass poured into a New Glarus pint glass.

Appearance: Clear orange-amber color with a one-finger creamy white head. The head sticks around for a while and leaves a decent lacing.

Smell: Typical pumpkin pie spices - nutmeg, cinnamon, clove. Not much else comes through in the aroma - maybe some yeast and a little bit of toasted biscuit. Despite the simplicity the pie spices are spot on, and smell delicious without being overwhelming.

Taste: Where did the pumpkin go? The flavor is quite muted, with some caramel, biscuit malt, and a touch of pumpkin pie spices sneaking in. I was expecting more.

Mouthfeel: Pretty thin. Appropriate carbonation level. Goes down fairly smoothly, but I'd like to see a little more body.

Overall: To put it bluntly, there just isn't enough to this beer. I love what Uinta does with their crooked line series, but outside of the aroma this beer just doesn't do a whole lot for me. Not bad, but definitely forgettable.
