Darkened honey color, flecked and obscured with suspended yeast, and donning a moderate dirty white cap.
The nose exudes shape-shifting fruits, that cycle among apricot, lemon, pear, and pineapple. Spice is more of a constant with its peppercorns, rosewater, and coriander.
Immediately wheaty upon entering the mouth, bringing a general softness that blossoms into plantain and kiwi hues once the yeast acts up, towing pepper and coriander with it. A faint but lingering lemon cookie midsection fades into a prickly dried floral arrangement of roses and lilac. Muffled booms of alcohol add further dryness, as this ends utterly clean.
Medium plump in feel with a carbonation that is steadfast, tiny and sedate, enabling a balance that is neither abrasively fizzy or stagnantly sticky. A remarkable accomplishment in American Belgian-style brewing, really, given so many examples that botch texture entirely.
I had this right when it was released a couple months ago and thought it to be coarse and disjointed. A little additional time has seen this grow into its shoes.
This is an impressive first stab at Belgian-stylings by a newish brewery. Kudos here.

Poured at cellar temperature, but possibly slightly warmer than optimum:

A - Uncapping the bottle releases a nice puff of CO2. Fairly rocky head dissipates all too quickly to a thin rim of foam around the glass. Color is slightly cloudy, golden amber, with active carbonation. Be careful pouring, the bottles have a generous slug of yeast sediment at the bottom,

S - Catching whiffs of citrus and wheat,

T - Very nice spicy flavors, and a little heavy on alcohol (not complaining on that point, though),

M - Very filling, and a little gassy,

D - I'm quite impressed with this one. The brewers are doing everything right. The label simply defines it as a "Belgian Style Ale" with a bunch of other marketing fluff, so their intent is tough to pin down. I'd certainly pin it in the Saison / Belgian Pale Ale realm, if that's vague enough.

A: Pale amber with a thin white head that reduces to a surface ring.

S: Some fruit, but otherwise a very light aroma.

MF: Medium to full-bodied mouthfeel with some sharp carbonation.

T: Exhibits a complex flavor of malt and hops. This American take on the style is hoppier than most Belgian pale ales but it seems to work well here, in this case. The dry finish is warming from the alcohol.

D: Enjoyable for an American take on the Belgian Pale Ale. Went down leisurely and smooth. This was my first offering from Furthermore and I have to say I'm impressed.

Probably not a true Belgian, but I'm choosing to think of this as creativity rather than inadequacy. The color is an intriguing translucent apricot, with a nice off-white head. A stream of fine bubbles rises throughout the time the beer is in the glass. It's "very drinkable for the style," which I put in quotes only because it's getting to be a common comment from me -- but usually it's a negative, and here I find it to be a plus. Some nice spice and fruit notes -- I almost think there's some apricot to the taste, too, unless that's just the power of suggestion. A clean, lightly hoppy finish. All in all, I'm a little surprised to like this beer as much as I did, but it does have a nice balance of interesting flavors and drinkability.

I do like the name, gotta give them that, even before the crown is cracked.

Lightly hazed, golden hued appearce, slim, soon-gone head, highly carbonated ...nice, though...

Sweetness in the aroma, plenty of citrus and spice, an orangey/lemon kick, and some coriander and pepper in there, too...delectable, enticing, likable, yes...

Taste: deliciousness is here, there's some tart, and some bitter, some grit, and a slice of sweet...good texture, lots of give and play...nothing too slick or smooth in this, plenty of flavor, loads of fruit...has all the earmarks of a good, Belgian-style pale ale. In fact, if you blindfolded me, and served it to me, it peg it as a Belgian, and wouldn't dream it was from an upstart Wisconsin micro.

"Dangerously drinkable" says the label, sort of what you'd say about something like Duvel, but there's no abv listed....would be nice to know how much alcohol I'm ingesting....it feels on the upper edge.
More from the label: "unrepentant, unpretentious, and unfiltered, our Belgian style pale ale features a touch of wheat and plenty of hops."
Yep, they're telling the truth there...and the goofy name charms me more than something that arches toward the ages.
More lemon, more wheat, more straw, more hops....damn tnagy, and really good!

I'd love to find out more about the ingredients, and the abv, and maybe more...this is perhaps the most impressive and enjoyable brew I've tasted from these guys yet! Good job!

A-Hazy bunished copper body with virtually no head. Appearance would lead you to believe this was a very thick, full-mouth beer. It almost has an apple juice body.

S-Big shot of yeast on this one. Fruits and spices dominate this one. Anyone afraid of Belgian yeast should avoid this beer at all costs. Definately a banana-hefe-ish aroma to this.

T-Yeast is all over on this one. There seems to be a black pepper spice that comes out and overtakes the other flavors. It is hard to pinpoint this beer. It tastes like a tripel with a bucket load of yeast added. The sharpness is almost annoying at times. Don't get me wrong, I love Belgian yeast more than any yeast, but the intensity of this was a bit out of place. The malt is overtaking in this beer.

M- A bit strong in places. This beer is rough on all angles but I can't disagree with their motives. A strong dose of bittering hops intensify the dryness of the yeast in the finish.

D-As much as I wanted this to be my new Wisconsin secret treasure, I am afraid it is not. The yeast is just too intense for a beer of this stature. I had two in a row and do not notice the alcohol like others have posted but we shall see.

Overall, any brewer willing to take a stab at a Belgian ale is great in my eyes. Maybe they can tweak this recipe into a nice Tripel or stellar Saison.

Picked up a single at Riley's here in Madison.

Pour: initially a clear amber-orange turning hazy and opaque as the yeast is incorporated under a finger of loose white foam.

Nose: citrus juice, banana/papaya puree, coriander, spicy yeast and funky wheat malts.

Taste: juicy bubblegum up front, followed by esters of banana and papaya, hints of coriander and orange zest, rounded out by husky wheat malt and a somewhat boozy, dry finish.

Feel: light and peppery in the mouth with lively carbonation and smooth viscosity.

Drinkability/Overall: as others have noted, this is not a beer that strives for balance. Gobs of citrus, bubblegum and spice make for an intense experience, along with a seemingly hearty alcoholic content. Still a refreshing beer that felt pretty damn good on a hot, finals week May night.

I enjoyed this beer; I thought it was a nice American Belgian-style ale with some spiciness and a nice mouthfeel. Excellent drinkability.

A hazy golden color with a small amount of very fine head, which dissipated quickly but left 2mm of very fine white bubbles. Aroma is slightly tripel-ish, with a fair amount of clove-iness (quite good). Flavor is very spicy and good...a lot of American Belgian ales taste slightly chemical-y or overdone, but this one did not. Mouthfeel was not flat, but was quite good and smooth. I really enjoyed this beer.

I consumed three bottles the other day and after following them up with just 4 Miller Lites I found myself hopelessly inebriated. This made me question this beer’s strength so a few days later I had two more bottles followed by a few brews from Sand Creek and Viking. Same result. On Saturday I had just one bottle, along with several brews at the Great Dane and Angelic. Once again, I got drunk. That might sound predictable, but I can usually drink a hell of a lot of Dane beer and a case of Miller Lite before feeling the kind of effects I felt after three Fatty Boombalatties. Either this beer is hella strong or it contains herbs that cause some sort of histamine reaction (wouldn’t be the first time) that mess me up.

Appearance: The Old Fashioned in Madison has a terrible habit of pouring all their wonderful craft beers into frosted glasses. These aren’t normal frosted glasses mind you. They are uber frosted, straight out of an ice core in Antarctica, recently touched by the Ice Man of X-men fame, or frozen when a glassware truck collided with a liquid nitrogen truck on an LA freeway, frosted. What I’m saying is that these glasses are cold.

That being the case I started asking for an unfrosted glass but that got me looks as if I were some sort of beer geek/snob (I am, but I don’t want normal people to think that). Then I discovered that I could order a 7 oz tapper glass, that it wouldn’t be frosted, and that I wouldn’t get the snob look. So…Poured into a 7 oz tapper, the first six ounces is completely transparent brilliant light copper with bountiful carbonation streams and a healthy white head. The second six ounces is perpetually cloudy, very yeasty, light yellow brown with a healthy white head. The entire 12 oz together looks like one would expect a blend to look. At any rate, this is a very yeasty, unfiltered beer.

Aroma: Very nice. Moderate Belgian yeasty banana nose with plenty of other light fruit and some tropical character. Some esters present. Lots of hops, grassy and citric. Wild wit like spice profile.

Taste/Mouthfeel: Spicy and yeasty. Some banana, loads of pepper and a generally very spicy. Powdery and boozy texture form the yeast. Aggressive, prickling carbonation. Lots of fruit flavor and some front yard herbal/grassiness. Semi-cloying front but dry, bitter, very hoppy finish.

Drinkability: This is a little intense, very yeasty, somewhat boozy, and definitely hoppy. It’s no balanced work of art. That’s for sure but it is a complex and exciting beer. I would think that age would help mellow it in a good way. At any rate, it is very strong and gives a great buzz.

Pours a hazy orange, some foam, sticks around for a bit.

Smell is barely there, possibly some wheat somewhere.

Big bubblegum in the taste, almost too much. Cloying, then a long lingering bitterness in the aftertaste. Not so good. Over the top in an aggressive way, sweet and yeasty, no attempt at balance here.

Hard to finish a 12 oz., glad I only had a single.
