A: pours a dark amber color with a 2 finger head that does slowly head down leaving a nice lacing.
S: peppercorn for sure, with a maltyness in there as well. No hops that I can pick out.
T: It's interesting! Malty with a hint of that black pepper bite. As you move through the beer the pepper gets stronger and stronger.
M: Smooth easy drinker, no harshness but it does seem to finish a little dry
D: I agree with Willie (a few reviews down) It's worth trying and a spot drink for me. I'd drink a couple of these every once in a while.

Appearance: Typical golden color with appetizing layer of foam.
Smell: Hints of pepper with citrus and pine.
Taste/Mouthfeel: Taste is similar to smell. Crisp mouthfeel with a lager-like cleanlines in the finish.
Overall: A pretty tasty ale that I would try again.

Poured from the bottle.
Cloudy and copper in colour. Slightly fruity nose with pepper and citrus-hops. The taste is on par with the smell; citrus-hops upfront with a mellow pepper flavour and a very clean finish.
Would I buy it again? Yes.

Knot Stock pours a mildly clear copper with a small but frothy head. When you take a deep whiff of this beer you almost think you might sneeze. The pepper is light and mixes well with sweet malts. You'd think that the pepper is going to hit you hard here up front but first you are greeted with a sweet almost candy like taste. This is when the pepper comes in and masks all the signs of the sweetness to give you a nice dry, spicy flavor… exactly what you'd find from well, pepper. It takes a few moments for the pepper to disappear from your mouth but in the end you're left thirsty again. The pepper dries out your mouth and the hop bite leaves you looking for another sip.
I love drinking this beer and I think it's a perfect beer to pair with dinner.

12oz into a pint
A - Pours a fairly opaque brown color. off white head formation, frothy that breaks down to a film. Lots of lacing.
S - Light amounts of black pepper and some nutty brown malts. Overall muted. As it warms, black pepper goes up significantly.
T - Starts off lightly malty, some caramel. Mid-stream the pepper comes in full speed, strong - white pepper which is slightly biting. Hopping is present but only servers to bring the beer into balance. Aftertaste holds onto, wait for it, more pepper.
M - Moderate body, moderate carbonation - a little bit sticky in the finish. Alcohol warmth is well hidden.
O/D - A quaffable beer from a ABV and filling point of view. outside of that, this beer is like other furthermore beers I've had - weird. I guess if you really like black pepper then you are good shape.
