Bottle 233 of 1000. "Bottle Conditioned October 2012"
From the champagne style bottle into my Pretty Things Goblet, while watching the Super Bowl
Big "pop" and a fresh hops aroma as I open the bottle.
A - Pours reddish brown, but not cloudy. Light brown bubbles make a creamy head. Not the most attractive looking beer.
H - excellent fresh hops aroma - I can taste them in the smell.
Ravens ahead already...
T - hop bitterness, with a burnt malt taste. Almost like one of these "black IPAs". Not blown away by the hops. Decent balance. Hints of orange rind, banana? A little soapy as I drink more.
M - not as chewy as expected - thin, but crisp
O - a decent beer but I expected more out of an $18 bottle. No complaints, but would pick something else next time.

Pours a deep hazy amber, almost dirty brown color with an eggshell head that recedes to leave some spotty lacing.
Aromas begin with dank earthy and vegetal hops with some citrus zest and sweet grassiness as well. I originally guessed Simcoe mixed with Centennial hops as the hop bill but was shocked when I read that it was Citra as the primary late addition/aroma hops.
The tastes begin with some mild toasted bread and caramel maltiness. Soon after though you get a substantial amount of grassy, herbal, citrus and slighlty resiny, oniony hop flavors. Malt backbone is semi sweet and helps to balance the pretty forward herbal hop flavors.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Finish is slightly dank but not overly bitter with a little caramel maltiness to help balance. I am really impressed with the mouthfeel given the super low ABV, would have guessed in the 6% range.
Overall I enjoyed this beer but I think the dry hopping may have been a bit overdone as the supposedly Citrus Citra hops are coming across more vegetal which occurs when you dry hops for too long of a period of time. A decent beer but not one I need to seek out again anytime soon especially because of the rarity.

Poured bottle 275 out of 1000 into a 13 oz tulip glass. Pours a ruby red, with a 3 inch tan head that leaves plenty of lacing behind. Smell is carmel, biscuit, pine, and some tangerine. Taste is different, some spice maybe cinnamon and more grapefruit than the nose would have you expect, with a blend of the flavors from the nose. Body is large for the small ABV, plenty of carbonation, not dry, and obviously easy drinking. This a nice beer, but at $15 a 750 very expensive and a one time purchase. Not sure why they corked it.

On draft at Rattle n Hum, NYC.
Poured a murky dark copper hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.
The smell featured a light grainy sweetness and herbal hop.
The taste consisted of grainy caramel malts cut by a full earthy and herbal hop.
The mouthfeel was light with a lingering hop.
Overall a unique herbal forward ale.

On-tap at Alphabet City Beer Company, New York, NY
A: The beer is hazy dark reddish amber in color. It poured with a quarter finger high tan head that died down and left a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: There are strong aromas of herbal hops in the nose.
T: The taste is very similar to the smell and has some hints of the underlying herbal hops.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a little crisp yet thin on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The hops really take center stage in this beer-it's like having an amber ale with the hop levels of an IPA.

On tap at Peekskill Brewing in Peekskill NY, poured into a pint glass.
A: Dark Amber/Brownish Hue, Passes Mild Light, Off White Head Ring, Some Lacing
S: Grassy, Mildly Floral, Mildly Bready
T: Bready, Mildly Floral
M: Decent Carbonation, Medium Bodied, Mildly Bitter, Semi Watery
Overall, maybe I just missed the boat on this one but a very boring beer, nothing good worth seeking at all..with the mild nose and taste, compounded with a watery finish made a boring beer.
