From 11/13/12 notes. Went to Fourth Avenue Pub in Brooklyn before a Nets game and this was on tap leftover from a vintage beer night. Keg is from 2009, menu said oak aged and 10.5%. Served in a tulip, 10 oz. pour.

a - Pours a very dark brown color with a slight reddish tint to it, with one inch of light tan head and low to moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells of bourbon, oak, sweet dark fruits, raisin, bready malts, toasted malts, light vanilla, and roasted malts. Awesome, nose; it is sweet, but a ton of bourbon, oak, and vanilla too. This has aged very nicely.

t - Tastes of sweet dark fruits, raisins, plums, oak, bourbon, alcohol, coconut, vanilla, bready malts, toasted malts, fruity malts, roasted malts, and earthy notes. Taste is quite sweet with more coconut and vanilla which I like, but it is sweeter than the nose and a slight step down for me.

m - Medium body and low carbonation, and the body is smooth and easy to drink. There is not much heat at all. Really nice body.

o - Overall a great beer...man has this aged well. The nose is great and it is very easy to drink. Really glad to have this one as I'd never heard of it. It is sweet, but well worth checking out if you see it anywhere.

A-pours a dark ruby redy, hues of brown, slightly hazy. the head is white with yellow edges, creamy in appearance leaving a decent lacing.

S-malt forward, caramel, toffee, notes of soy souce, dark fruits in the back with raisins and dried plums.

T-the taste is quite big, it is piney with caramel and toffee, hints of alcohol with raisins and dried plums, light note of cherry in the back.

M-smooth full body with a lightly syrupy texture and strong carbonation to balance, slick and juicy on the back of the throat.

D-tasty beer, lots of sweetness that begins to take its toll as i keep drinking, great feel to it though making it very inviting. it does borderline cloying.

On draft at Novare's Smuttfest 2010.

A- Pours a murky, dense burnt orange with yellow highlights. Not much head; and what was there, dissipates quickly.

S- Smells like a blend between the Gravitation and Smuttonator. Lots of sweet malt and yeasty spiciness. A little alcohol.

T- Loads of sweet crystal malt. Burnt caramel. Again, a blend of the Gravitation and Smuttonator.

M- Because of the residual sugar, feels fairly full bodied. Sharp on the mouthfeel, though not much carbonation at all.

D- One glass was plenty. Nothing special.

Glad I tried it, but I have no reason to try this experimental brew if I ever come across it again.

On-tap 6/19/10 at Track 84 in Warwick, RI, served in a tulip glass.

A: The beer is a coppery brown color, with a short off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is full of brown sugar and caramel along with some dark fruit and some lager yeast.

T: The taste is very sweet up front up front with the same flavors of brown sugar, caramel and dark fruit that you get in the smell. Then some breadiness comes in from the lager yeast and a hearty malt character. The hops presence is mild but brings some balance. The after-taste is very sweet.

M: Smooth but syrupy, medium-to-heavy body, medium carbonation, finish is sticky.

D: Tasty, goes down ok, slightly filling, good kick, decent representation of style, it's not a bad beer but it's too thick and sweet for me to drink for a long period of time.

Served in a tulip. Poured a hazy/murky plum color with a thin skim of a head that dissipates into an off-white swirl. Nose is malty, candied figs and plums. Taste consistent with nose - lots of candied dark fruits with a hint of cocoa. Mouthfeel is medium-light with a light carbonation. There definitely a slickness across the tongue; not quite syrupy, but there's a little something. Really delicious. Not a go-to style for me, but I found this quite enjoyable.

Had this at Cypress Lounge

Pours a cloudy golden raisin color with a really white 2 finger head with a good amount of lacing

Smells like raisins and caramel with some herbal background. has a little spice undertone like holiday spices... nutmeg, cinnamon

Tastes really nice like a sweet graham cracker. not any bitterness like i would expect. the "holiday" taste is in there like the smell but it isnt too much at all. theres some banana and clove in there but not as much as an Aventinus. more raisin

nice and smooth on the mouth. completely coats my tongue in flavor

I think this beer is close to 9 percent. It had just a little bit of alcohol to it but I wanted it so that didn't bother me. I had two glasses of it and if I didn't have to drive home i would of had 3 or 4.

Pours a cloudy amber color with blonde highlights.

Aroma is strong, full of alcohol heat with raisin and plum standing out the most.

Taste is rich and delicious, coating the mouth with a fruit-like bouquet of cherry, plum, raisin and a slight hint of apricot.

Alcohol warmth is less prominent in the taste. Mouthfeel and carbonation are perfect. Beautiful.

Well worth the price on tap. A one-off that is sure to please! I really, really enjoyed this!

On-tap at the Lion's Pride.

Pours a copperish color with a dabble of brown, not much of a head to speak of and no lacing.

Smell has a nice deep malt aroma, big amount of caramel and especially maple, some other spice kicks around but the maple is really the star here.

Taste has a strong kick but not much of a burn, definitely on the sweeter side when the caramel malt and maple hit the tongue, carbonation was pretty much perfect for me.

Don't think I could drink too many of these without it hitting me hard, but had no trouble drinking the 10oz poured.

On-tap at the Brick Store.

Pours a hazy burnished copper color with a half-finger white head. The head recedes into a thin layer on top leaving solid lacing.

Smells of loads of sweet caramel malt with hints of bread and herbal hops. As the beer warms the sweetness subsides just a bit.

Tastes similar to how it smells. Smooth caramel malt flavors up front are joined by bready flavors that lend more body to the profile. Midway through the sip very light hints of herbal hops enter into things before fading into a sweet ending. Spices make an appearance as the beer warms - though not completely distinguishable, instead they add a prickly quality that augments the flavors already present.

Mouthfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with moderate carbonation.

Drinkability is good. I finished my glass without a problem and could have another.

Overall I was a fan of this beer. I'm not normally a huge bock fan but this had some twists and turns that made it rather enjoyable. Worth a shot.

This beer is dark brown with a small head and lace.
The aroma of bread, caramel and some fruit notes.
The taste is rich in malts, light spice hint with fruit tones. Caramel richness abound. It is a sweet beer with some warmth going down.

The feel is full body and while the alcohol is well hidden it leaves you with a sweet, low carbonated, deep malt beer.

Notes: Very chewey and way too sweet. The balance is decent but the sweetness is cloying.

Well, if you're a malthead, you should like this beer- especially if you like things on the sweet side. On tap at the Brick Store Pub. Poured amber with good clarity and a thin swirly head. It certainly sounds like some of the other reviewers had mishandled kegs. This one seems great. Smells sweet and very malty- like malt candy. The taste is also extremely malty with lots of chewy malt, honey, molasses, and a bit of herbal bitterness in an attempt to balance the malt assault. Almost chewy in the mouth, overall this beer is big and sweet, but also smooth and light on the finish. Pretty interesting. I like it, but certainly wouldn't want one every day- but I like a sweet beer now and again.

After the perpetually bad traffic in the Atlanta area turned a 40 minute jaunt to the Brick Store Pub into an excruciating, invective filled 80 minute trek, I needed something soothing to mellow me out. Since I left the apartment without grabbing a handful of oxycodone, I'll have to settle for this!

Appearance: Highly hazed, dark mahogany-hued body with a thin, fleeting, off-white head.

Smell: Undeniably sweet-scented nose of fresh, oven-baked bread heaped on with a heavy caramel sauce, sprinkled with light brown sugar, and splashed with a dark fruit liqueur.

Taste: Richly bready, heavily caramelized flavor with a seemingly moderate degree of good ole melanoidin. A candy-coated raisin fruitiness follows. Vague traces of spice buried within. Fairly light hop character with no more than a medium-low amount of clean bitterness. Minor hint of alcohol. For all the sweetness present, the beer manage to dry out somewhat for the warming finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium carbonation. Rather chewy mouthfeel.

Drinkability: It's an enjoyable (very enjoyable) beer. Now, if only I had the Smuttonator on hand to compare this one to. Purely for scientific purposes, mind you.

I'm a big fan of Smuttynose (OBD is in my Top 5 beers) so was obviously excited when I saw this on the menu during dinner.

It was good... not great. It tasted more like an overly-sweet spiced holiday porter than I expected, so it might have just been experienced out of season.

The body was good and it was a very complex beer but not one I'd consider putting on tap or *gulp* even trying again. Sorry Peter.

On tap at Blind Tiger. Pours a cloudy, super murky brown with no real head. Aroma of molasses, raisins, and garbage. Flavor of the same plus prunes and old vegetables. Wow, this was truly disgusting. Based on the previous ratings, I'm guessing that something was wrong with this keg but I'm also not sure if I'll have the courage to try this one again after the nastiness.

Pours a hazy almond with a nice warm glow, thin off-white soapy head.

Nose is just crazy. Fruitcake, soaked in rum, with notes of toffee, maple syrup, honey, caramel, a nutty sweetness that's rich and inviting. Almost barleywine-esque.

For taste, see above. Rum-soaked fruitcake drizzled with a mixture of maple syrup and toffee syrup. Fantastic, though a bit boozey.

Light carbonation, bit prickley. Syrupy. Warming.

tap at blind tiger.
Poured a redish almost brown color with a small head.
Aromas of dark fruits, roasted malt and on the first pass it actually smelled like maple glazed bacon.
Flavor was nearly the same, dark fruits, roasted malt, sugar and some rum. A good beer overall, but i found it to be a little sweet towards the bottom of the glass.

On-tap @ Blind Tiger, NYC - poured into tulip glass:

Pours clouded dark amber with a thin head that eventually vanishes, leaving some vanishing dotted lacing.

The smell is of caramel, dark fruits and some spiced rum.

The taste is of caramel and dried fruits. Sweet with a cherry tartness. It has a long, spiced rum finish.

It has a medium-to-full body. Syrupy, but not too sticky.

A tasty sipper. A pumped-up doppelbock, for sure.

Poured a hazy orange/ amber brown with a very thin tan head.

Nose has dark berries, some raisins. Super super sweet, sugary cotton candy.

I couldn't get into the taste of this, at first I thought it was because I had a Smutty Farmhouse right before, but after drinking a glass of water and going back to "The Terminatior G-Bock" I still was having problems with this beer. #1 being it was just way too sweet for me. Strawberries, dark fruit, candy but overwhelmingly it tasted like robitussin to me.

Medium bodied, very smooth feel

I can honestly say I won't be upset if I never run across this beer again.
