Notes:
Light, tasty & full of character, our summer wheat ale is brewed with a combination of domestic and continental wheat and barley malts, lightly hopped & fermented with a Belgian wit yeast, resulting in a delightfully tangy & refreshing flavor.

Pours hazy lemon yellow with a finger’s worth of foam that fell fast but left good lace. Nose is Belgian. Sweet bread, lemon with a hint of sour, spice and wheat. It’s a calm nose with good yeast. Taste is very complex. Bread, cracker and full, but smooth and mild. Ample carbonation but thin body. Drinks a little heavy but clean and crisp. The chamomile is just lightly on top, combining with the faintly floral hops and meets the malt right where it would get sweet but doesn’t. The lemon and the wheat come together so closely that you are tempted to think that you can’t taste the lemon but your mouth does water. Finishes dry with a touch of bitter and the malt lingers too in the finish. I liked it.

Built for the heat of summer, Smuttynose comes to the rescue with a light and zesty ale that starts with German wheat beer roots but bridges Belgian wheat and floral blends as well.
The beer pours a cloudy straw color that's just shy of gold. Its translucent character has a weighted appearance as light diffuses through its haze. Capped with a sturdy column of foam, its staying power lessens, leaving behind intermitten islands of foam on the glass.
Juicy, citrusy, and fully malted to start, the ale is creamy and sweet with light bread, yeast, and dough. Softened with a powdered sugar-type sweetness, the ale turns at middle palate to prefer a citrusy acidic tone with a peppery undercurrent of clove and pepper. A waft of floral aromas are rose-like and turn to an herbal vanilla taste and minty-warm final impressions.
Medium-light on the palate, the beer's embedded carbonation causes the ale to seem fuller than actual, but trailing with a tacky sweetness in the middle that doesn't tansition well. But a finish of slick velvet and a cool alcohol feel closes the beer semi-dry and mostly clean.
Delightful all the way around, the Summer Weizen is an easy throw back type of beer because of its refreshing taste, clean texture, and effortless drinkability.
