Notes:
You could say, then, that Smuttynose IPA is a physical salute to the glory of the American hop grower. The citrusy hop flavor coming from a mixture of Simcoe and Santiams is pleasantly balanced by a smooth bitterness from the Amarillo hops. The beer itself is light bodied and crisp with a golden color that will throw a slight haze, as we bottle it unfiltered. At 75 IBU's, this is definitely not a training-wheels IPA, but is meant for hop lovers looking to satisfy their craving in a way that's not easy to find. We think they’ll be quite pleased.

Smutty in the Chi! Best by 4/11. Super fresh, I imagine.
[L] Smutty IPA pours a hazy golden color with some suspended sediment and a whitish head; nice amount of lacing off the bat. I'd prefer it to be a little more clear and bright for an IPA, but this will suffice.
[S] An herbal, grassy hop aroma. Pungent. Orange zest as well. Pale and sweet caramel malts play a nice background, making for some good balance in the nose.
[T] I believe I had read that this was brewed with amarillo hops; tastes like it. Some light lemon, more caramel, and a combination of strong citrus bitter with the pale malts showing through on end; still leaning toward herbal. Solid.
[F] A damn fine, very dry, lingering bitter for an IPA. Prickly mid, with good carbonation throughout. Thin to mild bodied.
[D] This is tasty enough to put down a few. But the strong dryness begins to fatigue my palate a bit. I could do 3 or so before switching, or ending the night.
Will have to revisit this when I catch it fresh again. Nice $10 6er. Worth it.

Pours a straw yellow color, which is almost translucent with just a tiny bit of haziness, with a moderate sized creamy white head. Head has okay retention and leaves heavy lacing.
Smells of orange peel, old bread, a bit grainy.Tastes of orange peel, grapefruit, stale bread, and pine. Has a clean, bready/piney/rindy finish. Has a moderate mouthfeel and slightly above average carbonation for an IPA.
