Pours a bright copper-orange. Even the head is orangey-yellow. Some sediment in the bottle, doesn't look like yeast. Beer is therefore cloudy.

Smell is really nice. Toasty nutty malts and a blast of cascadey hops. This is an IPA of the old-skool, none of the skittles-esque amarillo or simcoe.

Taste consists of slight caramel sweetness, some toast and a bit of nutty malt. Lots of hops, as expected. It's got a pleasant lingering bitterness to it too.

Body is a bit thick. It's not overly sweet, like fruit punch, but it is somewhat syrupy. but, considering the overall size of this beer, I suppose it's acceptable.

Drinkability - well, it's tasty. But it's also a bit too big to pound these all evening.

On cask at Volo during the Half Pints cask takeover.

Good-sized white head on the beer, which fades steadily but not totally. Some head remains. Good lacing. Beer is a murky, cloudy amber colour.

Smell is quite full of herbal notes, caramel malt and muted citrus. A bit dank.

Flavourwise, the beer is (unsurprisingly) quite hoppy, but there is a large malt component as well. Citrus, orange, pine resin. Grassy and quite herbal. Alcohol stronger than I would like for the style. Biscuity, sweet malt, with some caramel. The herbal element results in a medicinal flavour, a bit minty. Quite bitter in the finish.

Full bodied, low natural carbonation. Too heavy. Not sure that cask is the best treatment for this beer.

Overall, the herbal characters of this beer and the alcohol heat really hurt it for me. I find it rather messy. Good qualities, but not for me. Would be interested to try it on tap or in bottle, as I do wonder whether it just does not work on cask.

Thanks to drewone for sharing this one at jmgrub's tasting.

Pours a clear dark orange with a foamy beige head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt and dank earthy and herbal hop aromas. Taste is much the same with an alcohol kick and a high amount of herbal hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer but it's quite herbal and dank.

Poured from the bomber sized bottle into a tulip pint glass. MY FIRST HALF PINTS!! I'VE BEEN WAITING SO LONG!

Great shining brass dark amber body, and crystal clear. Head is white, but incredibly sudsy and shampoo like in appearance. Four fingers off the pour but still manages to sit around, little lacing, what is is spotted and scattered thin.

Nose is ripping mix of earth hops first, faint light airy soil. Lingering smoky pine as well, with a nice malt and toasted brown sugar backbone. Solid, it's a DIPA and it's going good so far.

Palate hits with a big malt sweetness and rich hops. Thick body, a bit sugar syrupy though, but the earth component hits like crazy. Huge MINTY finish on this beer, and herbal mint sweetness going on. Little carbonation, through this thick and seriously coating body. Faint prickly sense and incredibly tight and small.

Overall a real good solid DIPA and I love this mint finish on this. Not too boozy either. Well friggin done, would love to have this again easily.

Appearance- Pours with a thick creamy head. Copper honey brown in colour.

Smell- Piney, earthy aromas. Mild sweetness with a hint of plum.

Taste- Very strong hop flavour. Strong bitterness but pleasant on the palate. ABV is quite noticeable in this one.

Mouthfeel- Medium to heavy bodied with good amount of bubbles. Smooth creaminess as it goes down.

Overall- A good session brew from Half Pints. A hoppy yet balanced DIIPA that is sure to impress those that are fond of this style of beer. Quite drinkable for the ABV. This offering from Half Pints tastes very similar to those brewing companies that use fresh hops. For example, the Fresh Hop Full Moon IPA from Alley Kat. Besides this, a good job by Half Pints and I would buy this again.

I've had this beer a few times before and it's always been good. This is the freshest bottle I've ever been able to get my hands on thanks to kjyost who picked it up on the release day in Winnipeg so it can't be more than 3 weeks to a month old. The new labels are pretty sweet too.

A - Pours a dark copper with good carbonation. One finger beige head is very fluffy and thick. Bright. Good rings of lacing and a film hanging out after a while. Holds up well.

S - Tons of strong pine backed up with a strong caramel backbone. Citrus is there as well, but the aroma is definately coated with a pine sap type aroma.

T - Oh ya. Reminds me alot of the better DIPAs I had in Denmark. Tons of malty caramel and bread smashed together with intense amount of piney hop and citrus, but not typical grapefruit/pine. Interesting.

M - Very full body. Thick and syrupy with an obvious chew. Scraping bitterness leaves your mouth dry and wanting more.

O/D - Wow. Definately one of the better DIPAs to come out of Canada and it could probably hold it's own against alot of world-class ones. Excellently crafted and developed well with extremely high drinkability.
