Funny thing, I was in Busters and asked about getting some more "session" type craft beers, as they seem to cater to higher end brews, they referred me here. Where I got the low end type beers - Abita, New Belgium, Lazy Magnolia, etc.
Not a whole heckva lot of beers, but several coolers provided enough for a stock up session. And they also have several racks of singles, so a limited mix-and-match is available.
Not much service here, just the cashier and maybe a stock guy walking around. But just around the block from Busters, so you can hit both easily.
Kinda weird place, sit down and have a deli sandwich or pizza while you're there.

A- A couple racks of beer up front, about 8 coolers in the back. Deli and tables in middle.
Q- Freshness and product quality has has never been an issue for me.
Ser- Friendly, albeit not helpful. Pretty much just a cashier most of the time.
Sel- Same as most other places that sell non-high gravity beer in town (note the strange laws of tennessee) but they do allow you to make your own six pack so thats pretty sweet.
Reasonably priced as well especially taking the make your own 6 pack into consideration.

Raffe's is a pretty neat place. They feature both food, some basic goods and of course, beer. I have been to a number of places around Memphis and it is rather difficult to find a place with a good selection. They are not overly helpful, but if you have a question they can usually answer it. While Raffe's does feature a number of beers that are difficult to find in the area, they are rather understocked in a majority of their beers. Check things out here, but bring some cash because it is a tad on the price side.

This is where I go in Memphis to get a sixer of good beer, but it is still a bit pricey. They have whole cooler/wall in the back including Dogfish, Rogue, etc. It is on Poplar nearby Busters Liquors (close to University of Memphis), so if you are in town you can check them both out. Buster's is the place to get big beers, since Raffe's doesn't carry them. Supermarkets dont have much around here, but you can always look up a Fresh Market or Whole Foods in East Memphis. Raffes has a bunch of beer up front on shelves as well and I have not tried their food. Expect a sampling of the following micros: Rogue, Left Hand, Flying Dog, Anchor, Sierra Nevada, Abita, Dogfish Head, North Coast, Harpoon, Red Hook and Pyramid.

This place should be linked together with Buster's somehow for tourists since they are only like two blocks apart and compliment each other quite well due to state restrictions on ABV. The build your six pack option was nice, although I didn't find Yazoo's latest Hop Project there. Still it is worth a stop in the area, as they did have some Yazoo, Lazy Magnolia's Southern Pecan, and a decent selection of non regional beers. Service was satisfactory, and while I didn't try the food I really wanted to because it smelled good. Perhaps a tad higher than up north but nothing out of line.

Raffe's is situated in Midtown and includes a deli inside as well as a nice beer garden out back. The place is an excellent location even if just to go purchase a beer and relax outback with friends.
The selection is very nice, with about 7 or so coolers. Many of the beers are mainstays available all year, with a a decent variety of seasonals sprinkled in.
Raffe's has very reasonable prices as well. Standard six-packs are decently priced but the make your own six-pack is probably the best deal you will find. Pricing is simple, each beer is labeled for six pack pricing on the top and the price of the mixed six pack is the price on the top of the most expensive one.

Raffe's Deli is a great local place to get a good beer. It is a beer store/deli on one side and a bar on the other. The bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable. The beer selection is great for the area. The taps rotate regularly so there is often something new (many of the taps are local brews). They are willing to get in beer on request if it is available in Tennessee. The deli also has exceptional sandwiches and other food items. In addition to the great beer and food they also frequently have live local music. If you are in the area Raffe's is worth checking out.
