Pale golden colour, clear, large thick head, decent retention. Aroma was mainly Hallertau hop. Tasted an initial malty sweetness, finish was very dry, like a north German pils. Texture on the thick side, not too much carbonation, went a bit flat, smooth enough. Drinkable enough although slightly forgetable, started out like a Helles but finished like a typical northen beer.

A: Pours almost straw-colored with a really tall white compact head that quickly sinks into decent lacings.
S: Very mild smell; some bready somewhat sweet malt and some faint bitter hops; that's it.
T: Very bready; sweet malt and almost no bitter hops. Citric notes. But it's all hidden behind a doughyness.
M: Aftertaste is short and quite boring. Body medium, creamy and carbonation smooth.
O: If this beer is a German Pilsener; a poor product. It's more like a medium Dortmunder - not great but a bit better if considered a Dortmunder.

Served in Berlin.
A: Clear blonde with thin head of fair to poor retention.
Sm: Clean barley; nothing special.
T: Slick open to standard barley body with a refreshing finish. Nothing unique or bold here, though it does satisfy in a simple fashion.
Mf: Nicely coarse, but a bit too wet.
Dr: Not a great beer, but the price is right.

Overall this is an average Pils except for taste and drinkability so I'll cover on the two.
taste; outstanding pilsner flavor, nice balance of all ingredients, just what one looks for.
drinkability; really tasty and smooth without being too light. No problem at all to drink all day long after a nice meal.
I really must compliment this Pils, far superior to any of the others Berlin has to offer. I never asked a local but my friends from other parts of Germany all agree to this as well.

Better than their other pilsner! Pale gold, laces well, smells classic, tastes classic too, very simple.
On the grassy side, not the spicy side, which is I guess typical for what I consider to be the style. It doesn't really grow as a taste over the bottle, but there's also nothing unpleasant, not the sulfur or skunk you get from some of the other readily-available pilsners in this city.
Very well carbonated with a crisp mouthfeel which adds to the drinkability despite the sort of boring taste profile.

Bottle: 50cl; Served: Glass Tankard; Bought: Local store at Berlin .
Bitter and hoppy German Pilsener. The colour is perfectly amberish. The carbon dioxide level is just perfect (very nice mouthfeel). The foam is very firm but does not last a lot. The taste of this plzeň is just classic.
Perfect for pork ribs curry stew (at least this is what I served it with).

got this bottle around the corner from my Hotel Artist Riverside, Mitte, Berlin.in outdoor cooler at a kiosk on the street. Poured with a big white foamy fluffy head and lots of lace. Color is a bright clear yellow gold. Aroma was immediately skunky over grain, malt, hops, and a little spice. Flavor left the skunk behind - and turned out pretty good! Real as a matter of fact. Just enough malty sweetness to be alluring with just enough hoppy bitterness to balance and keep it clean and satifying. Big barley grain finish with some hops. Definitely a session.

Arrives a very pale gold. Nice foamy head with some decent enough lacings.
Very little aroma. Light grainy malt.
Again, grainy malt with a hint of bitter hops, maybe a little bit of apple, but really not much else.
Drinks fine, mouth is crisp and well carbonated, right on style. A mediocre pilsner.

a bright golden beer with a creamy head that fades into a dense foam of 1/2 inch thick.
Smell of light grainy pilsnermalt with a clean bottom fermented smell. A light grassy hop smell.
Taste of a very light pilsner, without the usual sulfur, which is quite normal in a German pilsner. It appears to have some wheat notes, which round of the body and add body and grainy taste. The yeast is very light and clean. Drinkability is great.

The colour is yellow with a tint of gold. The high head quickly sinks down to a thin white lid, leaving some lacing.
The smell is not very inviting. Some sweet, almost frowsy malt as well as some chemical bitterness. Earthy notes of mud are mixed with wet paper.
Wait a minute! Is this beer beyond its Best before date? No the label says 01 08. And I know that the (brown) bottle have been stored in a dark and cool environment both in the store and in my home.
The taste is as skunky: Some sticky sweet dough-like malt, hints of wet cardboard and chalk. The aftertaste got some very fragile bitter notes, saccharin sweetness and some light earthy flavours in the finish.
The carbonation is medium to weak. The bubbles are small. The liquid is watery.
The label states that this is The classic premium beer of capital Berlin. First rate hops.. I doubt that statement

A gift brought back from Berlin courtesy of my kind flatmate. BB 11/07, served chilled in a pint-size weizen glass.
A: light-yellow straw in colour, very clear and moderately fizzy; the creamy white capuccino froth sustains rather well, leaving sheets of lacing behind as it retreats.
S: very light lemony fruitiness and feather-light malt juice and corn-ish grains upfront; quite restrained, featuring neither hops nor malts. Pleasant, but the aroma is quite simplistic for a pilsner.
T: flows of very light but quite juicy lager malts abound, with a touch of crushed nuts, followed closely by mildly bitter hops, a somewhat "powdery" mouthfeel, and a short-lived dry-ish undernote at the back... but, hey, the bitter-sweet malty aroma lingers instead!
M&D: compared with another Berliner Pilsner (Schultheiss Brauerei) brought back by my flatmate, this light-weight pilsner lacks the depth of dryness desirable for a more-ish North German pilsner. The palate is clean, and fizziness moderate, but the overall drinkability suffers slightly from the lacklustre flavour profile, to me at least... Not a bad beer, though.

.5 litre brown bottle poured into my old Berliner Kindl pint straight sleeve glass. The glass left Berlin in early 1990, just after the wall came down in Nov 89. The beer left Berlin in October 2006 and was consumed in Dec the same year, dated, best before 05/2007.
I remember drinking this beer by the bucket load (mostly on tap) while living in the city, my memory is playing tricks, because I thought it was better than this.
Times change and so do our taste buds, so this review is about the new bottle and my tastes now.
Looks OK, Golden yellow, clean, clear and sparkling. Whiter than white head, which stayed.
Poured cold, so no real aroma at first, mixed herbs and wheat arrived as the beer warmed up.
Light hop flavour, wheat maybe, but dry and thirstquenching, mouthfeel is not great, but the dryness stays for a while.
Not what I remember, but a steady pilsner in both style and taste.
