Been here a couple times as I frequent the area visiting famiy. Plus I graduated from Chico State. Chiii Coooo!!
This place is top knotch. The dining room is huge with lots of room at the tables, plus a big bar. More restaurant than brewpub.
Great food, excellent beer. My fave is pale ale. And it pairs well with many of their dishes, like the sandwhich I ate.
The gift shop had the usual stuff, but it was set up as its own store away from the restaurant. The external windows on the brewery showcases the huge shiny copper tanks, which you can see as you drive by.
The garden at the adjacent corner lot is one of their garden/hops fields. And you can park right next to it.

Awesome place to visit. I took the tour and it was outstanding. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and personable. Tour was just the right amount of time. Seeing their facility is extremely impressive, and recently, has become very energy efficient. Tour ends with a large sampling of everything they are currently serving in the area, which is a much larger selection than you can get anywhere outside of Chico. I can't recommend this place enough. Sierra Nevada has been my go to beer when I'm unsure of what I want to drink. I know it will be outstanding every time. Go enjoy this place!

I LOVE THIS! i want every birthday and special occasion to happen here. funeral too. i absolutely hate disneyland, but i called this place disneyland for beer loving adults. i went on the tour. it blew my mind. so much detail and so much information. i got to play in the hop bins! the story, the people, the beer, everything about this place just makes me happy and proud. i want to support this company, these people, this beer, and this place so that it can keep getting better and better. the things you will find on tap here can NOT be found anywhere else. the food is nicely paired, and the restaurant and patio are a great place to spend an afternoon. the gift shop will break your wallet. i try to come here at least every two months, but i am looking for ANY reason to go more often than that. i do appreciate their sustainable approach, and have said to myself, "well if sierra nevada can do it, i'm sure i can be more sustainable too." i am really looking forward to the east coast expansion, what sort of excitement do you think they'll come up with? i would encourage everybody to come here and see for themselves, but seriously, i like that it's not that crowded in chico... if you go at the right time.

Top notch. I've been blessed to have friends and family attend school in Chico. Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. is always a stop when I'm up there. The facility is truly what all craft breweries should aspire to be! The tours are fantastic, the history, tradition and love of it all are inspiring. The beer and food although not "fancy" are exactly what they should be. The Big Room? forgetaboutit! If you have the opportunity to see a show there DO NOT MISS IT! If you have a chance just go, stop by the gift shop too for gods sakes, very cool stuff. Wow, I need to go visit my cousin or something... Chico here I come!

A great place to take a date. It looks great when you drive up, and they have a great selection of there brews.
Definetly suggest this for a good night out, however, the food does get a little pricey, but the beer is definetly worth it.
If your looking for a place to get drunk, this is not it. If this is the case, check out Madison Bear Garden, downtown Chico.
This is however, a great place to entertain business guests, or to take someone on a first date. Good food, and great beer. Overall a good selection.
Cheers, and bottoms up

Sierra Nevada Brewery is a gym in the Chico area. The food and service has gotten better every time I have gone there. The first time I went, probably around 1998 or 1999, the restaurant was much smaller and the service left much to be desired. My date sat on some gum on the bench and the staff responded with "oh" when I told them about it. Since that less than stellar occasion, things have gotten better and better. The last time I went I ordered a tasting sampler of their beer and had a wonderful steak. I have yet to go on a tour of the facilities, but they display copper kettles through a window to the restaurant. The one drawback latley has been that the place has always been very crowded when I have gone. Over all though, Sierra Nevada Brewery is very worth checking out and stopping for dinner. I would also highly recommend the tasting sampler as they have a great selection of beers in the sampler, many of which are difficult to get elsewhere.

I don't know why it took me so many years to get here but I can safely say it won't be long before I return. Didn't get a chance to do the tour but will be back for it next time. Food was very good although we were there during the late afternoon when they have a shortened menu during the 3-5 pm period. The beer quality was excellent as expected.
The atmosphere is very warm with lots of wood. Though it was crowded the noise level was acceptable for conversation.
This is a first class operation.

I love this place more and more every time we go to Chico.
Always been a SNBC fan and was lucky enough to marry a woman who was raised in Chico, so "going home for a few days" is NEVER a bad thing.
Great beer served in the proper glass, great prices, even for growlers and just as many distributed beers available on tap as there are brewery exclusives, so a win-win! Bigfoot is on-tap always too.
So while you can get the Pale, Celebration Ale and Torpedo on-tap, they also have a bunch of not released beers like Barrel Aged Ovila Dubbel (Quad also available but in bottle only), Bigfoot and other specials.
Good gift shop as well.

This place gets alot of hype, however I beg to differ. They do indeed make some great beer but their food really is bad. First they try to be a upscale restaurant with an upscale menu, but the quality is inferior. Second, if you want some decent brewery type food they fall way short. The choices are limited and the quality sucks. On one road trip in Ca. and Oregon, we went to 6 different Brew Pubs in 7days including Sierra Nevada. The food at Sierra Nevada was second to worst. If you go there alot, it gets really boring. Also the bartenders also frequently seem disinterested. Bottom line, great beer, lousy food. Another problem is, it is way too crowded with ridiculous wait times for seating.

Just visited today and yesterday. This was my first experience at the Sierra Nevada Brewery, and I was very impressed.
The 45 minute wait would have turned me away from a lot of other places, but I had made the three hour drive with all intentions of visiting - so I stuck it out.
Luckily, I was informed that I could spend my wait time taking a tour of the facility and visiting the gift shop.
The tour of the brewery was short and a little disappointing in my opinion. The tour guide knew how to stick to her script, but didn't know much else about the facilities or their brewing process.
The gift shop was extensive in swag, but not so much in their beer selection. They only have four selections of bottled beer to choose from, and all of which are available in any west-coast town. I was hoping for something special that I could only purchase at the brewery, but a couple of SNB-logo golf-balls had to suffice.
Dinner was great. The bread was more than memorable (baked fresh in-house every morning), the beef in my Sirloin Gorgonzola Fettaccini was amazing (the waitress informed me that all of their beef comes from the Chico State University agriculture department, which has a special contract with them).
I also had the beer sampler on my visit - the 16 beers they had on tap, in a sample size glass. The presentation and education from the staff during my sampling process was great.
I would say that the price was better than any big-name restaurant, especially for the quality. The meal, including 1 pint and an $11 sampler split between three people came out to about $18 a person.
Overall, I had such a great time, I came back for lunch the next day.
Chico is a cool little college town. I rented a bike and rode around down-town and some historic parts, played some Frisbee by the river, and had a truly great time. It's an awesome weekend getaway for anyone nearby, and the Sierra Nevada Brewery makes it that much more worth it.
