Poured from "stubby" 12oz. bottle into a wine goblet.
Dark brown/black in color, with a moderate head of tan foam.
Aroma-Roasted dark malt, dark fruit note
Taste-Hint of dark fruits, dark roasted malt, coffee, warming alcohol in the finish. Smooth sipper. Worth a try if you can find it.

A thanks to cpolking for this beer. Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a black color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of roasted malts, coffee, a touch of oats. Taste is smoky, coffee, alcohol, again just a bit of oats. Feels full bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.

This brew pours pitch black with a two finger mocha head and light lacing on the glass throughout.
The smell is of burnt oats, coffee, chocolate and toffee.
The taste mostly follows the nose with roasted and sweet malts as well as coffee taste. The chocolate then comes in with a hint of toffee; there is also a strong hop backbone. This brew loses some points due to the fact that too much alcohol bleeds through an otherwise well balanced brew.
The alcohol which tends to dominate at the end does provide a warming effect and therefore this brew would be a good "warmer" for a cold winter night. Overall this is another well balanced brew from Sierra Nevada.

Bottle poured into a pint glass.
This beer is straight out of the fridge, so it is colder than I prefer any of my beers, but especially my dark stouts and porters.
I poured rather vigorously to generate a nice, creamed coffee tan colored head that lingered for only a brief time. The head did leave some lacing on the sides of the glass as it receded. The color is pitch black with no light coming through at all when held up to the sun through the window. The aroma is slightly chocolatey and burnt with hints of alcohol shining through. I am sure it would smell better if not so cold. The taste is rich with hints of coffee and chocolate and a nice burnt toast flavor that rides the palate. The alcohol is present as well throughout the entire tasting process and the end finishes boozy and a little like a wet dog smells. The aftertaste has a nice bitterness to it. The MF is smooth and creamy, and not all that heavy bodied for what I was expecting. It has the slick feel that Oatmeal Stouts often have.
Overall, I think that this is a solid offering, as usual from Sierra Nevada. It may not be spectacular, but it is a good beer.
