I had this at Good Beer in NYC.
It pours out in a murky brown rust color.
It smells of sweet whiskey and cherry.
The taste is amazing. It has a smooth, smooth flavor of raisins, vanilla, and sweet bready malt. Easily my favorite non-American style beer that I can think of. It just has so much drinkability and complexity to it.

How the eff did my job get this on tap!?!?!? So it pours up murky dark rust color. No real head. But the little it has is off white. Ivory if you will, lassie. Nose is spices, oak, sweet whiskey, some cherry cognac. Flavuh is barrel aged brew fo sho, cognac again, sweet malts, dark fruits like plum and mess, hint of mild floral hop backdrop. Pretty light bodied, good ol smooth carbo. Easy drinkin. Leaves a lil stickiness on the tongue in the finish. I think this is one tasty burger.

Enjoyed in a snifter at Tops. This was tasted next to the un-aged version, which provided an interesting contrast. I find the other one straightforward — not too complex, but nice.
Opaque maroon with no head to speak of. Compared to its clearer brother, this is dark and foreboding.
Nothing much but barrel in the nose. Tons of the smoothest, most buttery oak. Vanilla, butter scotch, a little coconut and milk chocolate. I get hardly any quad aromas, but the barrels are well done.
Same deal in flavor. This is no longer a quad, but a barrel delivery engine. Some dark fruits come in at the swallow, but the front is all toasted oak, bourbon and vanilla. The fruits do work a little toward rounding off the barrels’ harsher edges. Maybe some hints of banana and brown sugar as it warms up.
Light, prodding carbonation in a body that, oddly, seems thinner than the regular beer. Still has a nice creaminess, though. Some booze heat on the tongue.
I would like to see some more of the base beer in this BA quad, but thus is still mighty fine. The barrels are top-shelf, and their flavor is impressive.

On tap at Churchkey in DC during the Sierra Nevada 55-tap takeover. Served in a snifter. Pours a moderate brown color with a short light tan head that quickly faded away. The nose brings nice, smooth bourbon with a touch of vanilla and oak. Behind that is a bit of dark fruit. The bourbon is quite smooth through the nose and flavor, though it does sort of take over the base beer a bit. While mostly bourbon, there is a bit of quad remaining; it’s a nice touch in the background, but I would have liked it to remain a bit more. Body is medium and quite smooth. Probably the best beer I was able to try at the takeover.
