Bought a single from a bottle shop in South Philly. Didn't see a freshness date. Poured into my Bruery snifter for review.

A: Pours a clear-like gold color with amber hue. Subtle carbonation with finger width foamy white head. Head fades eventually to some frothy bubbles.

S: Aroma of mostly piney hops with some citrus thrown in. I get a hot alcohol burn. Smells mostly sticky sweet of hops with little malt backbone.

T: Nice hop flavor, but tastes a little muted for a Double IPA. Seems a little out of balance with malt to hop ratio. Seems like the beer camp folk overhopped their trial beer here. Even still, it's a nice beer for someone looking for hops.

M: A little overly bitter. Again, wished this one had a little more balance. Would have liked to see a little more malt peaking through. Tastes light but the hops give it a medium full mouthfeel.

O: Not a bad beer by any means. If the hot alcohol notes were tamed a bit and it had some more malt character I think this one could be a real winner.

Reviewed from notes.

Pours out a clear golden color with a two finger head that rapidly recedes back to a relatively stable 1cm lid, minimal lacing is left behind on the glass. Body and carbonation are on the lighter side of medium strength.

Smells of Pine resin, grapefruit, assorted citrus rind bouquet, and a touch of toffee malt. Tastes of a good even blend of citrus peel, some dank and resinous hopping, caramel malt, and lightly of Simcoe-styled onion / garlic combo. Has an aspirin / medicinal bittering finish with some rising heat from booze.
