24 oz bottle into a wine glass.
Appearance: Pours a beautiful copper color. The head is a finger high with an off-white shade and respectable retention. A thick ring of lacing is left on the glass. Like many SN beers, it's a very aesthetically pleasing product. (4.5)
Smell: In many aspects, it smells like a standard-issue IPA made by Sierra Nevada. There are nice amounts of piny, floral Cascade hops backed by light caramel malts. But then I pick up huge amounts of lime, raspberry, and lemon zest. Some faint tropical hints also appear (i.e. pineapple), helping to tie all the unique fruit notes together. Okay Sierra Nevada, you now have my attention... (4)
Taste: ...unfortunately, the complex fruitiness is less vibrant flavor-wise. Rather, it seems to focus on strong pine-laden flavors, backed by some lighter hints of grapefruit, pineapple, and flowers. Luckily, if I concentrate, I can still pick some of the lemon/lime zest hints near the back end. Even some herbal, spicy hop flavors to boot! Even at two months old (bottled 9/24/14), this still does a good job of invoking chewing on a pine cone. Oh yeah, the malt brings some mild caramel flavors too. At first, it was disappointing next to the nose, but the more I drink it, the more it grew on me. (3.75)
Mouthfeel: The general bitterness bites the tongue and doesn't let go. This creates the side effect of good drinkability, so I can't complain...too much. It doesn't really leave behind much lingering resin, either - however, it's more oily in texture than your typical IPA (because wet hops, natch). (3.75)
Overall: It starts off being a mild disappointment. Thankfully, it's a complex beer that offers plenty of varying hop flavor, so it gets far better as I drink it. As a beer that pulls no punches with the hop bitterness, IPA haters will probably detest this. Me, I totally dig it. (4)
3.89/5: Oh dear, I think I've fallen onto the wet hop bandwagon...

What was once a relatively easy find, is now one of the rarest treats in the brewing industry. This ale is the pinnacle of the floral, pine/citrus hop character that old school Sierra Nevada IPAs exhibit. Notes of earthy pine resin, grapefruit and peach dominate with a drying burnt sugar, caramel malt backbone that balances out the bitterness. No one makes beer like this anymore, which makes it so special when you find it.

It is a beautiful pour from a tap into a clear pint glass. Dark copper-amber in color, it also brings with it a modest and enduring light biege head. It's mildly aromatic, with solid earthy and malty notes. That also describes the flavor, which is malty enough to provide a little sweetness and a decent body. The hops add flavor without being overly bitter. This is truly a wet hopped IPA. Earthy throughout the drinking experience, even the finish doesn’t approach the expected IPA hoppy dryness. Not that this lacks a good bitter hop inclusion, it's there, just well balanced by a really good malt body.

Look... brown, brown, brown, copper and with ample carbonation and a white head. transparent
Smell...nonexistent light hop citrus with some maltiness
Taste...Resinous , slick, peppery but none of the kind of fresh hop experience that lagunitas has with their wet hop. Good but for me very reminiscent of celebration in taste and color.
Feel...a carbonation that dictates the bitterness in the back end very nice. much lacing
Overall...This is a nice beer but get a lot of the same notes from Celebration fresh hop and there are many sierra beverages i like a little more... they are a victim of all of their previous successes.
Its good why not try it!!!

I had this many years ago. I remember it being excellent. A great balance of hops and malt. One of the most well balanced IPAs I've had.

355 ml bottle, vintage 2015, in Nevada City. Amber to copper colour, large white head. Pleasant aroma of fresh hops, herbal and fruity notes. The flavour is also well hopped throughout, but the bitterness is not extreme for an IPA. A very decent and enjoyable beer.
