A- pours a clear dark orange with no head, but leaves an impressive lacing trail

S- sweet earthy malt up front with a faint citric hop at the end. I was expecting a ton of hops

T- big pine assault with a bitter rind linger and a bready malt sweetness. Pretty heavy booze kick

M- a little on the thick side with low carbonation. A little unbalanced, but not bad at all

D- pretty decent. Not something I'd like to drink a ton of, and honestly I probably won't buy this again. For the cost, I feel this is an over hyped beer. There's plenty of stellar DIPA's out there, and living in SoCal, the pickin' is a plenty!!!

A: Poured out a slightly hazy dark amber color with three fingers of a frothy yellow-orange head. Nice retention.

S Pretty vibrant nose with semi dank pine, grapefruit, orange, and tart lemon scent. Some floral hops in there as well.

T: Pine, grapefruit, and floral flavors in there. The finish is grassy and earthy. Bitter and hoppy, yet, more malt balance than I'm used to from SN. ABV is somewhat noticeable.

M: Medium, creamy body and medium carbonation.

O: Probably the best beer I've had so far from SIerra Nevada. Most of their offerings are solid, but I usually find myself wanting something deeper. Hoptimum is built like a champion at a great price.
