Poured from me trusty growler to me trusty Sam Adams Perfect Pint Glass.

A- Well, for a "Golden Bock" its certainly golden. Pours a fine crystal clear gold with a big ol' head that disappears quickly.

S- Faint ginger and spice, little malt, little smell.

T- Fresh crisp, citrus zest. Fruity and spicy.

M- Light bodied, crisp.

D- Its, not bad at all, just wish i had bought a 6 pack as opposed to a growler. Would be great on a nice spring day.

A = as advertised. Maybe on the tad on the brown side of golden. A little bit dirty looking which to me is usually the sign of a better beer from one of the bigger micros like SN.

S = If anything, just a somewhat of an unfresh smell, but it doesn't linger or anything.

T = Nicely malty. Nice contrast from the last couple of beers I've had (IPA's, Breakfast Stout, mass produced crapola).

M = A little high on carbonation but again, spot on overall.

D = Pretty good so far, will update as I go through the growler.

Growler filled at Capone's, Norristown PA.

Picked this up as part of CBX SuperBowl Sunday special. (Cool glass thrown in!) Not the best beer I've had off their growler station but after Ballast Point's Wet Hop treat a week or so ago, I've had higher standards.

Has the flavor that I always associate with SN beers. Good strong hops.

Wouldn't pick next time so glad there are 8 other choices for tomorrow night.

Poured from a growler purchased from a local homebrew store. I went in for an IPA but had a sampling of this and decided to bring some home. Not overly impressed but a very drinkable beer. The smell was very malty with some hint of hops....not great. The taste however made up for the smell. Nice going down and smooth finish. Overall a good beer.

Thanks to Slatetank for bringing a growler of this to my 40th Birthday Bash.

A-Bright, clear golden yellow with a thin white head. Head reduces to a thin cap and leaves spotty lacing behind.

S-Quite floral and spicy, with a touch of biscuit sweetness behind. I wasn't expecting quite this much hop aroma.

T-Spicy peppery orange zip up front with a backing biscuit sweetness. This one ends much drier and less syrupy than I expected it would.

M-Medium-light quite crisp yet creamy. Seems like it can't quite make up it's mind. This conflict is a detractor for me.

D-Easy drinking and surprisingly sharp and spicy. Shape up the mouthfeel and maybe smooth this out and bit and an enjoybale brew awaits! Overall pretty darn nice.

Thanks to slatetank for sharing this growler on 2/3/10.

A - Poured a clear golden body with light amber tones and a sparse off-white head that completely disappeared.

S - Sweet and malty nose with faint herbal hop notes in the background and light tea-like notes.

T - Sweet caramel malt and grassy/herbal hops comprise the initial aroma, although some slight spicy, peppery notes are sprinkled about. There is also a light alcohol presence that pushes through. Finishes with a nice hoppy bite in the backend reminiscent of leafy herbs.

M - Light bodied with a soft, syrupy texture. Finishes with subtle bitter notes and a slight dryness on the palate.

D - Pretty nice light bock that would make for a good Springtime beer. I was surprised by the hop presence with this one. It wasn't in your face or anything, but it was quite pronounced for the style.

64 oz growler into several glasses. Big thanks go to Slatetank for generously providing this during Deuane's 40th Birthday Blowout Tasting on 2/3/10.

Pours a clear gold, with a thin covering of bright-white frothy head. This stays foamy around the edges, with a quality 1/4 finger flare-up that leaves some good looking spotty lacing behind. The aroma is floral and a bit spicy, with some light bready sweetness and a touch of citrus shining through the hops.

The taste, is once again lightly bready and fruity feeling, with some gentle hop character providing a spicy zip across the back. Finishes with some lingering dryness and a touch of leftover sweet tanginess. The mouthfeel is lighter, with a crisp feeling creaminess in that mouth that belies it's over 6% ABV.

This was very easy overall on the palate, with an extremely drinkable body for the size and a crisp and spicy profile that kept things interesing flavor wise. This would be an easy choice on a warm spring day.

from Sierra Nevada's description on there website:
"Glissade is a remarkably mellow take on the traditional spring bock. With restrained sweetness, we emphasize subtle malt flavor, balanced against delicate aromas of spicy and floral European hops. This complex balance helps Glissade slide across the palate"

I brought this to Deuane's 40th Birthday bash and he seemed to echo my thoughts that this seems like Summerfest beefed up- a strong pilsner with spiced hops leading the taste.

A - golden as the name implies w/ thin white cap after the settling from the pour -tiny bead and lots of carbonation is visible as the clarity is good, moderate lace collects

S - A biscuity, light bready malt scent w/ slight yeast odors and mild hop spiced nose w/ an aroma like a slightly maltier and spice-ier pilsner

M - The feel is good w/ moderately carbed and spicy hops adding texture to the dry toasted malt and mildly sweet feel

T - not quite a palate cleanser, very crisp thought and both the hops and carbonation give a clean refreshing taste w/ slightly toasted light malt and nutty pils flavors blending well. The hops add a hint of piny-ness w/ gentle honey-like accents lingering in the background. I was surprised by the dry finish and there is hardly any alcohol presence even though it is midway between 6 + 7%.

D - This is a drinkable pale bock like its predecessor Pale Bock it has the qualities you look for in a slightly bigger malty lager, yet brings some of the hop tastiness you might expect from a pils. It is something I could see myself enjoying with friends like on Saturday when I have a community brewday planned.

Reviewed from notes.

Transparent light golden color, 1cm of white foam that lasts for several minutes but only has minimal lacing qualities. Lighter side of medium body, medium carbonation levels.

Smells faintly of cereal grains, a couple of white bread crusts, and some hay-like grassy hopping. Taste is slightly more centered around honeyed light graininess with the same herbals playing second fiddle. While this certainly is a clean and crisp beer, and it does indeed evoke the notion of 'spring' and 'freshness', it doesn't really do anything in particular that is memorable in comparison to other, similar offerings on the local market.

This is easily the worst of Sierra Nevada's seasonal rotation. It's got the same crispness as Summerfest, but much less flavor and much less balance. The hops come in up front but don't give way to any other big flavors. I mean, it's better than hoppy selzter water, but in the spring time I'd go for Sam Adams' Noble Pils instead, though unfortunately they've replaced it on their major rotation with another beer. I wanted to like it, but it kind of bored me.

Appearance - An undersized head that does not exceed a half of a finger. Leaves a thin film at the top of the brew. Exploding with carbonation and floating yeast. A beautiful orange/golden brew that looks beautiful under the light.

Smell - Delicious hops that smack the nose. Grassy, wheaty notes with light malt in the background. Pleasant to the nose.

Taste - Still quite fresh for being a few months old. Sparkly hops coat the entire mouth. Light hints of lemon peel and tangerine. The hops are fresh and mouth watering. The malt back is well-balanced and delicious. Grainy, malty, and wheaty.

Mouthfeel and Drinkability - Very smooth - slides right off the tongue. Light bodied and well-balanced. Lots of flavor here.

12oz bottle served in a standard shaker pint.

pours a perfectly clear bright golden yellow; a somewhat aggressive pour yields just shy of 2" foamy, light beige head. above average retention leaves a bit of patchy lacing. great looking beer. nose is firmly planted in the subtle camp: muted notes of toasty maltiness, a touch of citric fruit. tough sledding trying to pick apart this aroma.

flavor delivers a bit of that toasty malt out front with a strong dose of hoppy bitterness following. i cotton to it a bit as i drink, bumping the taste .5, but in the end this is a middling brew. good mouthfeel., medium-light bodied, crisp and refreshing. appearance aside, this would be the brew's best attribute IMO.

overall this is OK. not a drainpour by any means, just underwhelming. i would glady accept one if offered for free but will not seek it out again.

Review from 7/2011 notes. Poured into a Black Raven pint glass. Pours a clear, light orange amber. Thin white head dissipated quickly leaving a ring of foam and slight lacing. Faint aroma of malt and hops. Flavor better, nice sweet malt up front blending into a gentle hop finish. Nothing distinguishing, but well balanced and pleasant to drink.

I poured a bottle into a pilsner glass.

Appearance- Slightly cloudy golden color with two fingers worth of head. Nice amount of lacing.

Smell- Sweet malts and grain with a hint of citrusy hops.

Taste- Same as the smell but with a little grassiness and nuttiness also.

Mouthfeel- Light bodied and well carbonated. Smooth and crisp.

Overall- Very nice and easy to drink. I would love to try this one again.

Almost clear golden straw with lazy carbonation raising a head up to two fingers. Frothy white head drops after a few minutes leaving spotty lace on the pilsner glass.

Malty, honey and fresh-cut straw with light cookie dough and hints of bell pepper in the background.

Flavor follows the nose with an emphasis on the grains. Mild finish rounds this one out.

Medium body, dry and chalky. There is no alcohol presence. Carbonation is light.

An easy drinking beer that is better on the cooler side. Probably best on a warm day. This would make a fine standby for any party.

T: Simple beer. Sweet malts, yeasts and grassy hops. Quite neutral and smooth beer. Moderate bitter end

M: Light body. Some hop bite. Good carbonation. Mild bitter end

O: Very drinkable. Hoppy and skunky in overall. Good quality Sierra Nevada after all

Poured from a 330ml bottle into a Chimay goblet glass.

Pours a golden (like the name, clever eh?) yellow colour with a decent white head.

Smells faintly hoppy and alcohol-y.

Taste is a bit harsh due to the carbonation and alcohol I think. Other than that it works well and tastes quite nice.

Overall a pretty enjoyable beer, i'd have it again.

2011 release; notes from Feb. 2011

A - Pours a clear straw color with two fingers of white head and nice slow rising carbonation.

S - Slightly sweet malts and grain.

T - Some subtle hops not present in the smell. Also more earthiness than the smell suggests, which lingers in the aftertaste. An unfortunate metallic taste really takes away from the good things going on here.

M - Medium mouthfeel with lingering bitter earthiness and metal funk.

O - Some off notes in the taste really reduce my enjoyment of this, which is unfortunate because I am a fan of the style and was looking forward to this one. Probably would not get again.

12oz bottle poured into a Duvel tulip. Heel of bottle stamped 018 11.

Appearance - Hazy amber-yellow body. Pours one finger white head with low stick and decent retention.

Smell - Sweet and grassy. Hidden corniness underneath. Faint honey and alcohol.

Taste - Light splash of complexity. Thin honey malt followed by light hop. Very balanced and mild. No off characters.

Mouthfeel - Light. Some bite. Thin honey stickiness that doesn't linger.

Overall Drinkability - Pretty legit. Demands to be a session beer.

Pours a bright golden color with a moderate sized head and minimal lacing. Smells slightly grassy and with a bit of citrus.

Taste- has a citrus kick from the hops, followed by sweet bready malts.A slight bitterness at the end closes out a nice blend of flavors. Lots of great tastes coming through here yet it all balances well. Mouthfeel is great, smooth and very drinkable.

Overall a great seasonal. It has a great balance between the spicy hops and sweet malt. Very easy to drink as well.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pilsner glass.

A: Pours a clear golden color with a big white head that has decent retention but eventually fades to a thin film over the top. It looks very lively with a high amount of carbonation. It looks like a dark colored champagne.

S: The overall aroma is quite mellow with light floral and grassy hops as the backbone. In the background, some grainy and bready malts can be found.

T: Pale malts and herbal hops are front and center, while the hops provide a mild bitter finish.

M: It has a light body with a high amount of carbonation that allows the beer to dance on the palate. The carbonation effectively cleanses and refreshes for the next sampling.

O: This was sort of a mellow beer overall. I wasn't overly impressed with much and with all the other great Sierra Nevada offerings readily available, I probably won't be visiting this one again soon.

This beer is an extremely hazy liquid, with a moderately sized white head. It's aroma is a little malty, nutty, and woody. Not as aromatically intense and I expected, but it does have an appealing, earthiness in it's smell. The taste is notably stronger...malt, a touch of hops...nice balance. It is a bit more carbonated than necessary. Medium body. All in all, a nice beer.

330ml bottle bought from The Vineyard, Belfast..

Poured a golden yellow colour. White head poured big, thick and fluffy then faded slowly to wispy coating with thick edging. Barely any carbonation... some faint lacing...

Aroma - Sweet slightly overripe fruits, marzipan / almond notes, quite grainy, wet and maybe slightly rotten grass, pepper spiciness, treacle / golden syrup notes, some toasted bread...

Taste - Quite a lot of bready and grainy malts, spicy dried fruits (raisins, currents, figs), honey sweetness, some metallic notes, definitely some marzipan, salty hints, some peppery and grassy notes..

M&D - Sharp initally then becomes slightly cloying... medium bodied... a little sickly for my liking to be very drinkable...

Overall - An ok bock which is maybe a bit on the sweet side... worth a try though...

Poured from a bottle. Harf a finger head that did'nt hang around to long.

Aroma was light grass notes & sleight hoppiness.

Taste was crisp & light malts. This beer does'nt hide the alcohol very well.

Overall this is a nice crisp beer but it dont stand out much. I like sierra's other offerings more & would pick them over this beer.
