This is a style that is very hard to come by. In fact, the only other Maibock I have ever had was Rogue Dead Guy Ale. Lets see if Sierra Nevada can breath new life into the style.

A: Pours a crystal clear golden-yellow. Head is rather creamy with some decent lacing. Not much carbonation going on. Looks like a nice, tasty brew.

S/T: The aroma is pretty grainy. Some breadyness and a touch of hop bitterness. The taste reminds me a lot of a Pilsener, and a good one at that. Lots of grain and bready malts upfront. A sharp hop bitterness takes over in the finish. I get a touch of grassyness in there as well. It has a very full flavor that lasts throughout.

M/D: This is where the beer differentiates itself from a Pilsener. The mouthfeel is a tad heavier, and it is less fizzy and carbonated in the mouth. Still very easy drinking and sessionable.

I was actually quite impressed by this one. I was expecting it to be a very sweet and malty brew, but it turns out this is a solid take on a very obscure style. Well worth checking out, especially if you are a fan of Pilseners.
