Poured from a 24 oz (710m l) bottle into a Dogfish Head signature glass (June 18, 2010). Serial number on the label says "111220730" so it's bottled 7:30am PST, April 22, 2011 on bottling line #2, (see here: http://www.sierranevada.com/images/BottleCode2009.pdf).
Eyes: Pours a nice hazy golden-copper with an abundant, thick head. Beautiful.
Nose: A decent nose, more grassy than citrus, a hint of sweet malt in the background. The least impressive aspect of this beer.
Tongue: Malty sweet with caramel and dried fruit notes up front, with a significant bitter grassy finish. A well balanced beer that just doesn't seem to pull of a great flavor profile.
Mouth: Well carbonated, but there is an awkward metallic finish that doesn't work for me.
Libation: A decent IPA, but not close to as good as the SN Estate Brewers Harvest Ale. I'm not sure I want to pick up a 24 oz bottle of this on the regular.

Purchased and enjoyed the same weekend, May 2013. I’m assuming it was just released.
This pours a caramel auburn color with great cottony foam. There’s an aroma that’s slightly peppery with a somewhat earthy caramel note to it. Tastes of caramel and pine with some earthy peppery characteristics and a dry finish. The hops in this don’t “stick out” in the way I’d expect from a fresh-hopped ale, nor do they exhibit the vibrancy I’ve come to expect from Southern Hemisphere (New Zeeland) hops. Reminds me of a SNPA with more malt/caramel and an earthier hop character.

Dark orangey amber in the Crooked Line tulip. The usual SN professional-strength head and fine carbonation. Smells like apples, lemons, and marmalade. Very attractive with a long-lasting foam. Some fruit and sweet malt to start. Pears and Schweppes Bitter Lemon.
This is all about the hops, which I find are Southern Cross, Pacifica and Motueka from New Zealand. They are all new varieties to me, but it's a bitter blend. Spicy and on the acidic side. Almost severely woody, like it was strained through leaf mold. Drinkable enough, but not a brew to gulp. Medium body. From the 22 oz bottle bought at Barons Marketplace in San Diego.
