Pours a bright amber-copper color with a frothy white head. Lots of lacing stays behind. The aroma is earthy, bready malt with a bit of citrus hops in the background, though the malts take top billing. Flavor isn't as hoppy as I had expected (feared) coming from S.N. but still more than you'd expect in an ESB. Bitter hops combine with strong malt flavor. Some faint pine hop in the background. Finish is decidedly bitter, certainly "Americanized". Not an English bitter by any stretch, but a very nice, easy to drink beer.
