12oz. bottle poured into Hoegaarden Glass/Tumbler.
A: Thin, oily head. No head in center; just around the rim. Cola colored with cherry tones under light.
S: Smooth, malted scent with mildly roasted notes and settled coffee back-end. Smells like wet dog once warmed up to room temperature.
T: Roasted coffee beans and strong hop presence. Not very complex.
M: Fresh, grainy, dry-hopped tingle, dryness.
OVERALL: With some freshly ground, roasted coffee bean under-tones, I'm really digging it. It's textbook as hell, though, without that stout punch. Style points are high, but Sierra Nevada just didn't own up to this recipe as it has nothing very special or unorthodox to offer. Just another cow waiting to get slaughtered.

-Appearance: Black in a pint glass, gray-ish white head. Leaves a scarce lacing but shimmers and dissipates nicely! Fun to look at.
-Smell: sweet malt, a bit nutty
-Taste: a bold malty flavor, semi bitter sweet chocolate and a hit of coffee.
-Feel: Eaaasy, but satisfying. I was going to say I wish it had more body but I resigned that thought, it was great! Smooth but stuck on my tongue like "hey fool, you know you wanna take another sip".
I quite enjoyed this, I would give this to a friend as an introduction stout, easy to drink with a full flavor. Thanks Sierra Nevada.

The SN Stout pours an almost opaque black with deep ruby highlights. It has a frothy clingy tan head that goes to a collar and displays a ton of lacing.
Its aroma is appealing as well - figs, chocolate, roasted malts with some bitter coffee notes.
The flavor is fruity figs, chocolate and vanilla up front, followed by a strong metallic, almost chalky, bitterness that kind of rubs me the wrong way. It is thinner than I would expect yet leaves a sticky bitter residue.
Overall, this is a nice stout. If not for the off finish (to me at least), this would be a great one.
