Poured into a pint glass. Deep black color, with a tan head. Had to pour hard to get a head at all, but it came out nicely in the end. Some decent lacing action going on too.

Aroma is all hops surprisingly.

Great, straight-forward flavor. Good strong, herbally, slightly acidic hop flavor... more than I'd expect in an average stout. Dark-roasted coffee and unsweetened chocolate as well. Pretty much zero sweetness. Zero alcohol heat too, but then again I am used to drinking higher-gravity brews.

Nice light carbonation, a little bit of a dry mouthfeel.

Goes down really easy and really delicious. As far as a straight-forward easy-drinkin' stout goes, this is pretty top-notch in my book!

-Appearance: Black in a pint glass, gray-ish white head. Leaves a scarce lacing but shimmers and dissipates nicely! Fun to look at.

-Smell: sweet malt, a bit nutty

-Taste: a bold malty flavor, semi bitter sweet chocolate and a hit of coffee.

-Feel: Eaaasy, but satisfying. I was going to say I wish it had more body but I resigned that thought, it was great! Smooth but stuck on my tongue like "hey fool, you know you wanna take another sip".

I quite enjoyed this, I would give this to a friend as an introduction stout, easy to drink with a full flavor. Thanks Sierra Nevada.

The SN Stout pours an almost opaque black with deep ruby highlights. It has a frothy clingy tan head that goes to a collar and displays a ton of lacing.

Its aroma is appealing as well - figs, chocolate, roasted malts with some bitter coffee notes.

The flavor is fruity figs, chocolate and vanilla up front, followed by a strong metallic, almost chalky, bitterness that kind of rubs me the wrong way. It is thinner than I would expect yet leaves a sticky bitter residue.

Overall, this is a nice stout. If not for the off finish (to me at least), this would be a great one.
