Poured into a noick pint.
A- Dark amber color pours out of the faucet. With a nice off white head with large bubbles
S- A nice roasted, chocolate, with a bit of sweet malt starts out, and remains through the beer.
T- A good roasted malt and bakers chocolate flavors come out in the flavor. Like any good Sierra Nevada beer, or most West coast style for that matter, a good bitterness hides itself in the finish of the beer.
M- Very smooth, and very balanced
D- I really, really enjoyed this beer. I was so surprised about the bitter finish in an Oktoberfest. One of my favorite styles of beer, I liked the roasted flavors, darker than most color, and the hint of bitterness at the end. This lager seems hard to find, but I will enjoy one every time.

On draft at the Blind Tiger, NYC.
Poured a deep amber hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.
The smell featured a toasted malts, caramel and an earthy hop.
The taste consisted of a grainy malt with some sweetness and a nice pumpernickel breadiness. Residual hop spice.
The mouthfeel was typical of the style.
Overall a tasty and clean Oktoberfest.

Ordered this at the brewery in Chico last night. Following review written from notes.
Served in a Sierra Nevada imperial pint glass.
Appearance: Body was very dark brown with crimson highlights. A small, foamy, khaki-colored head sat on top and was very sticky - drug a good deal of lace. Head retention was moderate. I was expecting something lighter in color with a cleaner, foamier head; but oh well, I like how this one looks too.
Smell: Sweet Munich malt, toasted barley, and molasses. Sweet, toasty, smooth.
Taste: Toasted malt, sweet Munich malt, mild saltiness, and leafy hops. The bitterness was pretty pronounced in this one, and all-in-all it was very flavorful.
Mouthfeel: Clean, pretty creamy, and mildly dry. Malt-forward, but still showing a nice hop kick. Carbonation didn't interfere with things at all. Medium-bodied and very smooth.
Drinkability: Another high-quality beer from Sierra Nevada. I'll probably order this again next time.

Dark brown in color with some reddish highlights. Some lacing remains from a tan head that was once an inch of solid foam. As always, a nice look from Sierra.
Sweet, nutty aroma of slightly roasted malts. Pretty sweet, with an herbal presence, pretty hoppy for style.
Same can be said in the flavor - pretty strong hop presence here for an Oktoberfest, and I like it. Plenty of caramel sweetness, light spicing/pepper, and the earthy, noble hop action that you expect. But there's also a nice citric hop (Cascade?) presence that really lends an extra bit of depth and interest to this one.
Body is about right, a little thinner than usual, but as I said I liked the flavor much better. A little dry, good per style, and generally an enjoyable sipper all the way around.

This Octoberfest was an attractive dark amber color with a straw colored lingering head showing good carbonation.
Sweet, malty, caramel on the nose.
Good balance b/w roasty, nutty malt and lightly hopped with spicey piney notes. Slight earthy finish.
Smooth and clean while a little chewey.
Easy drinkin'

On tap.
A: Poured a medium marzen-amber with a light fluffy white head. Visible carbonation was moderate.
S: On the nose was some fresh grains and some malt sweetness and fresh flowery hops.
T: For flavor there was a nice light toastedness, fresh flowery hops. The palate was very clean. Overall perhaps a tad to hoppy per style ending with a floral bite. Not nearly as malty or sweet as an Hacker pschorr/Paulaner but overall a good drink.
T: The mouthful was light-medium body making for a good session oktober.
D: a decent session beer, more typical of a summer picnic type of drink then a fall era.
