On tap @ the Cambridge Brewing Company (Cambridge, MA) on 2/3/12. Served in a cervoise.

Pours a clear copper, with a ½ finger of bright white foamy head. This maintains that rich ½ finger when flared-up, leaving back a frothy cascade of lacing that quickly slides down the sides of the glass. The aroma smells fresh, floral, and earthy, with a touch of spice. Some softer citrus notes mingle with sweet grains underneath but the overall feel here is mostly herbal and earthy in the nose.

The taste has a freshly citric and grassy bitterness to it straight through, which takes on more of a raw and pithy feel as this spreads out. Some softer fruit and herbal tones attempt to smooth this out some, while grains at least balance out that initial blast of bitterness before this finishes dry and a bit harsh. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a soft and creamy feel to the carbonation as this first hits the palate. This firms up considerably though the more this lies on the tongue, drawing out more of those raw hops the longer this sits.

I liked the fresh power and somewhat complex nature of the hop profile here but it just came off as a bit too bitter and rough in spots. They used an experimental hop varietal in this one and while interesting, I’m not so sure that I’d like to see this one used again.
