look: 3.5 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.5

Had this on-tap at my first visit to the brewpub during a fun Boston/Worcester weekend. $6 a ~12oz pour. This was listed as 9% ABV.

Comes in a flute-type glass. Very dark color with some reddish purple highlights. A small off-white head sticks around decently turning to a thin ring towards the end.

Smell is a little on the weak side but is enticing. Lots of tart dark fruits, vinegar and oak.

Taste - wow, great stuff here. Intense dark fruit gives off a red wine feel (berries and cherries come to mind) and is matched nicely with a good kick of tart funk. Vanilla, vinegar oak and light spice also present. A very well-rounded sour, hits the mark in every aspect.

Good mouthfeel with carbonation that's on the high side. Keeps you sipping, this goes down easy for 9%.

This was awesome, this could stand up to Russian River's wild ales - it reminds me of Consecration a bit come to think of it. The funk doesn't tame the fruit and the fruit doesn't tame the funk, intense on both sides. Bottle this!

Serving type: on-tap
