2008 version, 8.6% ABV.

One of the best beers I have found, I love red god.

Nice ruby body with slight tan head.

Smells hoppy. Beautifully hoppy. Notes of grassy hops are all over the place. I had to remember this was a drink and not just something to sit around and sniff.

More hops. Great hop character throughout. It is a hop explosion in my mouth, I don't know how else to describe this fantastic fluid.

Good body and carbonation amazing drinkability. I Could drink this all night and all day.

Pours a burnished red colour, furious bead on the sides. Big, generous head - fluffy with sticky lace. Nice.

Smells awesome, loads of resinous floral hop notes. Rosewater, musk, citrus, pine bark and a touch of raspberry. Ooh yeah that makes me want to drink up, for sure.

Loads of malt underlying, very nutty with hop resins early. Citrus pith and pine resin, lots of sharp oils and acid. Quite a lot of floral late-hopping character to counterbalance, so it's alright, but no denying it is very sharp. Beautiful sweet malt underneath though and a touch of alcohol heat. Pleasant.

Undeniable alcohol heat. Nice, full texture but a very big hop pull.

Pleasant big hoppy red ale. I think one of the best I've had from the east coast, and not just because the hops are very west coast in character. It's because it packs a big malty punch under it all, showing it has respect for the power of the hops it's using. Great job.

Bottle gifted to me by @LaitueGonflable, originally purchased from Slowbeer in Melbourne. Batch #01, bottled June 2012.

Pours a very, very hazy deep reddish amber hue, with a slick and fine film of pale yellow on top of the glass. Body is very solid and thick, and although the carbonation isn't particularly fine, it stays pretty static when the glass is tilted. Some small, patchy lacing. Looks good overall.

Nose is that beautifully fragrant and rich blend that works so well in a red ale: sharp, spicy hops pressing their piney note into a deep bed of sweet, deep caramel. Citrus fragrance, comes through, along with a slightly floral note, the fragrance of which maybe just accentuates some of the booziness when you get a big whiff of it. But overall, it's aromatic and stylistically good stuff.

Taste follows very similar lines. Lovely bright, citric hops on the front palate, mellowing into sweet sultana characters on the mid, and a burnt toffee richness on the back. The hops are front-heavy, but this is nice in a red: it allows the malt to have its place too. Mild toasty characters come through on the finish, almost giving a reprise to the sultana notes that appear earlier—it's a little bit like an overcooked, peely fruitcake. Very nice stuff indeed, a very well-constructed red palate.

Mouthfeel is smooth but strangely empty: it could even use a bit more carbonation, or a thicker body.

Overall, this is excellent stuff. In particular, I love how well the malt and hops are balanced: both are given equal standing on the nose and on the palate, which is just right, as far as I'm concerned. I feel a bit like it doesn't do anything outside the mould of a classic American Red, but it sure does fill that mould very nicely indeed.

First beer review for the new year and pours a hazy copper hue with a thick creamy three finger head and lacing everywhere,the smell is fruity with aromas of nectarines,candied oranges,passionfruit and sherbet,the mouthfeel is full bodied with moderate carbonation and has tastes of candied oranges,lemon sherbet,toffee,boiled candy,passionfruit and finished with a pine hop bitterness and overall its nice and drinkable but i think the one is enough for me cheers.

Bomber into a snifter, the brew appears a clear ruby color with a finger cap of off-white head. Some spotty lace sticks to the glass.

The smell is fruity and floral with a bright hop quality. A bit of toffee mixes with minerals and an edge of cheese quality sometimes found in quite hoppy brews. Not bad, just interesting. While the hoppy bouquet is enjoyable and inviting, I could do without the mineral components.

The flavor is hoppy with fruity and floral aspects upfront before the onset of mineral character that was also found in the nose. More sips reveal hop character that is herbal to pulpy and rind-like. A bit musty across the back and as it warms up with a perfume-like inclusion of alcohol.

This is a medium bodied brew with a modest amount of carbonation. It has a big perfume alcohol character and an oily hoppy bitterness. The alcohol is not hiding at all in this offering. Overall not bad.

22oz bottle from July, batch 1.

Pours hazy amber with a dense, bone head of an inch-plus. Loads of sheeted lacing and a solid surface coating for the duration.

Aromatics lead off with plenty of pine and ripe malt. Juicy and plump with ripe fruit and spruce.

On the sticky side of medium bodied with a slightly gummy mouthfeel.

Red apples, pine sap, and sweet malt start the palate. A mild bitterness with piney hops following through.

Finishes with some lingering sweet malt, pine dew and ripe fruit.

Tasty, tasty, but the draft version is head and shoulders above this bottle.

From 08/18/12 notes. Bought a bomber of this at the brewpub, I believe for $4ish. Batch 1 bottled in June 2012, poured into a pint glass.

a - Pours a hazy dark reddish amber color with one finger of off white head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells of fruity malts, pine hops, citrus hops, caramel malts, and a little bit of bready malts. Very nice, though I was hoping it would be a little hoppier.

t - Tastes of citrus hops, grapefruit, fruity malts, pine hops, bread, and caramel malts. Like the nose but more hoppy; lots of citrus and grapefruit. A step up.

m - Medium body and low to moderate carbopnation, body is smooth and creamy. Definitely does not feel like 9% ABV.

o - Overall a very good red ale, though based on the reviews I was hoping for a little more. Some nice hops in the taste but they had faded a little in the nose; probably because the bottle was 2 months-ish old. Still a good beer but I have a feeling if you get this super fresh it would be outstanding.

22oz bottle received as an extra from excellent BA trader trxxpaxxs.

Amber, orange, red elixir poured in SA glass. Clear, without precipitant. Huge marsh mellow/caramel head. Plenty of sticky lacing.

Strong hop aroma, grapefruit, lemon rind, mingles with spicy herbal tones.

Sticky hop flavor, mild bitterness, malt caramel. Some spice and alcohol at the back.

Well carbonated, medium body, oily.

CBC did a nice job hopping this one up. A quality amber.
