A German-style unfiltered wheat beer brewed with authentic German yeast and malts. Banana and clove flavors are present, followed by a refreshing finish.

Had one of these with a bowl of gumbo, mainly because I had never had this style before. It turned out to be a nice compliment to the spicy gumbo!
a - murky orangish-brown almost the shade of apple cider but slightly lighter; limited head/lacing
s - fruity like cider with fall spices
t - almost a cross between a wheat ale and hard cider; the apple tones are well balanced by the yeast and hops; finishes cool and crisp
m - low carbinization and medium bodied; has a sweet, coolness that is quite refreshing
d - it takes a few sips to acclimate, but this is a tasty and somewhat different beer experience; would definitely recommend with spicy food.
I enjoyed my very 1st Hefe Weisen. Empire pulls this off well.

The beer pours a cloudy gold color with a thick frothy white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is good. It has a fruity scent that screams yeast esters. The malt bill is in check providing a flavorful balance of yeast and malt character. The taste is good as well. It has a smooth pale and wheat malt flavor as well as a banana/clove yeast taste. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a full bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a very good hefe. It's got everything you look for in a good wheat beer. It has a great malt taste. It's unfiltered and loaded with yeast; yum.

Tim Burton gives his facelift on this one. Little lace and amber colour. Significant wheat though sour, too sour maybe. Above average carbonation detracted. Maybe not as fresh as it could be. Quaffable, and decent body, but not my type of hefe, maybe needs some tinkering. Old reviews should be deleted.

A very respectable Bavarian style hefe. About as good a brewpub hefe as I've had. True to style. Better than a lot of bigger name US made hefe weizens.
