Poured into a pint glass. Reviewed alongside Atlantic Brewing Company Bar Harbor Real Ale.
Appearance: Clear brown with moderate carbonation. Two finger, off-white head that diminished very quickly. The lacing was virtually nonexistent.
Smell: Light roasted aroma. Not much changed as the beer warmed.
Taste: Moderate sweetness and light bitterness. Roasted with hints of coffee and toast. The finish did not last long.
Mouthfeel: Light to medium body that was dry and watery. The carbonation was soft, almost flat.
Overall: This is an average brown ale comparable to Newcastle.

poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass, served at cellar temp.
Black Tea shade of reddish brown with thin greyish head that recedes quickly.
aroma; rich coffee notes suggest presence of some roasted malt, some sweetish yeastiness and some balancing hops.
mouthfeel: is a little thin.
taste: not quite as malty as some Browns, a light burnt coffee bitterness gives way to a slight cola sweetness.
Notes:if this were a richer, maltier brew it would be outstanding in flavor. lack of lacing is a problem. despite some flaws this is still a good beer..

Poured two fingers of head on a brown colored body.
The aroma is wonderful. It's a maltiness mixed with earth and forest.
The taste is somewhat watery with a roasted malt note and the mildest bitterness.
The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation.
The taste didn't measure up to the great look and smell of the beer.

Appearance: Pours a clear ice tea color with a very impressive head; nice retention and lacing action
Smell: Toffee and brown bread; a little fruit and some diacetyl from the Ringwood
Taste: Buttered brown bread and toffee, with developing undertones of hazelnuts, cocoa and tobacco, in the middle, where some nutskin bitterness also becomes apparent; the malts drive through the finish, with just a hint of fig in the aftertaste
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation
Overall: Not being a big fan of brown ales, I found this to be a nice change of pace; Shipyard has done a nice job of packing an interesting blend of malty flavors into this brew

I just got done watching my fantasy football team gets it's ass kicked by my brother, so I needed a beer. This one pours from a 12oz bottle into a Harpoon pint glass. Beer is very dark brown with a slightly off white colored head, a nice head presents itself and there is a decent amount of lacing. Nice looking.
Aroma is quite bready but filled with some chalkiness and alkalinity. Good dose of caramel with some toffee and tobacco notes as well.
Flavor mimics the aroma with toffee and crackers leading the way. More caramel with solid roastiness. Nice flavor profile
I liked this one. I am not typically a brown ale fan, but this one had nice body to and perfect carbonation. The breadiness and caramel and toffee melded well together to make an altogether well rounded beer that pleased my palate. As far as brown ales go, I liked it.

Served from a bottle into a pint glass.
Pours very light brown with a thin ring of white foam atop like a lid. The nose is all caramel, but evolves into a nutty malt. Soft smooth sweet nutty taste. Very light carbonation. Very smooth, very easy little bit of sweet sticks around.
Pretty good.

Quite lovely dark amber in the small chalice. Nice foam coats the glass. Toffee in the nose.
Not too thick, but malty. Pleasantly rich and flavorful, but not very sweet. Roasted malt provides the interest. A touch of hops provides some bitterness halfway through. Tastes more like a splash of coffee than hops. A hint of butter. Interesting dark flavor with some sweet highlights. Baked apples with some bitter skin flavor.
Thoroughly drinkable beer and a couple of notches above the usual in this category. From the 12 oz bottle.

Appearance - Pours a dark ruby brown with a light tan 2 finger head. Decent retention, results in a thin but consistent lacing.
Smell - Notes of English toffee jump out with some mildly roasted malts.
Taste - Starts with a nice English toffee flavor, then a subtle roasted nuttiness joins the fray. Hints of powdered cocoa around the edges. A bit of Euro hops on the back end help to give this a bit of balance.
Mouthfeel - Light to medium in body, with a moderate amount of carbonation. Smooth, finishing with a semi-dry finish.
Overall - Pretty good brew from Shipyard here. Nice twist on a classic English brown. Not my favorite style, but I enjoyed this one.
