Notes:
Weiss Principal is the international love child of a German Hefe-Weisse and an American Double IPA. This unfiltered wheat beer employs a traditional German Weiss yeast, providing engaging banana and clove flavors. A stern dry-hopping of a pungent American hops provides pronounced citrus, pine & fruit notes.

The beer pours a beautiful gold color with a thick towering white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is good. It has a nice mix of hefe yeast esters and bitter hop aroma. It's sweet and fruity with some subtle banana/clove character. The taste is decent. It has a good hefe flavor; pale and wheat malts, fruity yeast esters. The hop character adds a good deal of bitterness, which seems to muttle the flavor, but it's still quite tasty. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a full bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is an interesting beer. It's half hefe, half IPA. I didn't think the two would work together, but it kinda does.

This beer pours a light orange yellow, hazy, with only a thin lacing of head on the surface. Be careful when pouring, as this is an unfiltered wheat style, and sediment can end up in the glass. (this is really harmless and tasteless, but it looks bad)
Smell is intense- alcohol, cloves, bananas, hops. The aroma presents like a wheat beer on steroids. Its absolutely pungent.
Mouthfeel is light and airy, which is a huge surprise given the punch in the face the aroma presents. Its texturally very light, but active, with lots of bubbles.
Taste is as intense as the smell, but even more complex. Initially a wash of pure alcohol drowns the taste buds, and is followed by spice, cloves, then an intense, super bitter, resinous piney hop flavor overtakes everything. Finish is dry, with a super subtle fruit taste.
This is one assertive, intense, bad-ass brew. The intense flavor and smell are impressive. A very unique take on the IPA style. I don't know if the two styles- German Heffe-Weiss and American IPA- compliment or fight each other, but the result is a potent, flavorful brew.
Recommended, but be warned- this is one aggressive, assertive brew. Anything that is 8.6% abv, yet actually taste higher, should be consumed in moderation.

On-tap at Fourth Avenue Pub, Brooklyn, NY
A: The beer is clear yellowish amber in color and has a slight amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a thin white head that died down and left a large patch of bubbles in the center and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: The smell has an interesting mix of banana, citrus and clove aromas.
T: Unlike a typical weizenbock, the taste has a light amount of bitterness and lots of spicy cloves in the finish. There are also some notes of citrusy hops.
M: It feels medium- to full-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer can be intense but is something interesting to try if you like weizenbocks and IPAs.

22 oz bomber pours a fairly hazed gold color with a dense, creamy tan froth. Retention is excellently weissbier-esque and lacing nice as well.
Nose is...huh...hoppy? Definitely getting some fresh and citric hops to go along with an abundance of cloves. Balanced aroma between the hops and the yeast, but I am not so sure how well this combo is going to play out on the taste.
Taste is clashing, I dont find the banana/clove flavors to mesh well with the firm bitterness/hop flavors. Tastes more hoppy than anything and the yeast esters just muddle and confuse my palate. No bueno para mi.

22oz bomber
A) Pours with a big two finger head that takes awhile to settle. Clear body, bronze in color. Active CO2 from bottom to top. Sticky lacing on the drink down.
S) Fruity esters - banana, pear. Subtle wheat aroma.
T) A sweet malty and fruity blast upfront - wheat, Caramel, apple. A noticeable and pleasant hop bite in the finish.
M) Chewy. Medium body. Smooth and creamy. Alcohol effervescence.
O) This is a good beer, although only 8.6%ABV seems a bit more potent. I would definitely drink another one of these.

I am fairly excited to try the new brew from Peak Organic Brewing, the Weiss Principal Ale. The local representative dropped this one off yesterday, and it hasn't even arrived for sale yet. He described it as the perfect marriage between a sweet hefe and hoppy IPA. I can barely contain my excitement!
The Weiss Principal comes in a crown-capped 22oz bottle, screw-top oddly enough. It pours out a beautiful topaz color, with a thick and fluffy white foam. The foam lasts a ridiculously long time, and leaves behind a ton of sticky lacing. The brew is very hazy, if not completely opaque, and the resemblance to a great hefe is getting me even more excited!
The nose is dominated by the hops, very bitter, American style hops. I'm quite surprised by how much citrus and grapefruit I'm getting in the aromas. The label describes some banana and clove from the German Weiss yeast, but this smells much more like an IPA to me.
Once I take a sip, I'm sorry to say, I'm very disappointed. This has American IPA written all over it, with more in-your-face hops than I can enjoy. There is definitely a hint of hefe present, but it's very subtle, and over-whelmed by the IPA side of this Jekyll and Hyde brew. I am seriously not into this beer. However, my hop-loving friend absolutely loves the Weiss Principal Ale!
As I near the bottom of the bottle, I give it a good swirl to stir up some of the yeast. I'm expecting the yeast to be a little more appealing to my sweet, hefe loving palate. Well, it unfortunately doesn't make the Weiss Principal any better for me. Sorry! Overall, a pretty cool beer. It's the first hefeweizen I've ever handed to my hop-head friend that he liked. Actually, he loved it, and hasn't stopped raving about it throughout the entire bottle. Although it's not my favorite brew, I can sincerely appreciate the creativity of the Weiss Principle Ale. It really is the "international love child of a Hefe-Weisse and an American IPA" as the label states.

This beer was terrific. Wild, but terrific. The description is apt. Its a german hefe meets an IPA. In the nose, a crazy combination of citrusy hops battle with the clove-type smells of hefe yeast. Its a wild combo. The beer is TOTALLY unfiltered, so the mouthfeel is extremely rich, creamy and satisfying. The hops and are very prominent on the front, then the yeast flavors (banana, etc.) come out strong at the end. Its a roller coaster. My only complaint is the richness of the mouthfeel i think does interfere a bit with the other flavors. But otherwise, a really fun beer.

22 oz bottle poured this one into a regular pint, no dating info on the bottle.
The body is slightly hazy golden color. Two fingers worth of fluffy white head arose from an aggressive pour.
Aromas of wheat, light clove, and bananas up front. Small dose of hops in there as well. Sweet malt is the first thing to notice in the taste. A bit of citric bitterness and some light clove again. Touch of alcohol at the end.
Medium body with OK carb.
Decent beer but a bit misguided. The different aspects clash to much for my liking, interesting if nothing else.

Dang, this is good beer! Maybe not the Weizenbock style it says here, but its label is spot on: "An Imperial German-Style Hefe-Weisse". At a very good temperature it poured with a grand off-white, thick, foamy, frothy, billowy head that lasts a long time and some lace. Color is a hazy, apricot amber with particulates and a few tiny bubble trails. Aroma is yeast, banana, clove, orange, malt, hop. Flavor is similar to nose with some pine and grapefruit along with carbonic tang. Body is a little soft and yet just right for this hybrid. Finish is like flavor and of average length, ending with a little sweetness at very last. Excellent beer!

Pours a huge three fingers worth of ultra creamy off white head. Hazy orange body. Very nice lacing, head retention and rouseability.
Smells hugely of citrus, some floral and fruity hops. A subtle banana and clove smell mixes in nicely.
Tastes very hoppy, citrus, floral and pine. An underlying banana and clove also make it's presence known. Again I think these flavors mix well. Alcohol is well hidden.
Mouthfeel is medium full bodied, medium carbonation. A firm piney lingering bitterness keeps this in the ipa bitterness range. The hops are very oily and coating.
Overall this is a nice blend of an American ipa and German wheat. I'd pick up another of of these and lay it down.

22 oz bottle poured into a pint glass
A - comes out with a golden slightly clouded body with some carbonation visible. big three finger puffy head made of colossal bubbles. the head keeps well with superb lacing on the way down.
S - banana and clove are present but subdued. there seems to be an almost earthy smell to the malts in the background (and i don't mean that in a good way).
T - banana and clove are present again and there is a big hop bite on this one which is about right for an imperial hefeweizen. the earthy malts are in the background throughout this (it actually works well as a taste but i definitely found the smell to be off putting).
M - good carbonation. big puckering presence from the hop. great dry finish on this one. noticeable feel of alcohol in the mouth and on the throat in my opinion its just way too much and distracts from everything else.
O - i was quite impressed with parts of this beer and overall i still think its a good beer and worthy a try. if they could tone down the feel of the alcohol and improve the aroma i think this would be one brilliant beer.
