Notes:
This autumn ale is a showcase of the mighty Summit hop. Our friend Jason grows amazing Summits that combine pine, spice and captivating citrus aromas. A good dose of toasted malts provides warm, rich flavors to contrast the hops on the front palate. Cold fermentation gives a surprisingly crisp finish. We hope you enjoy this unique fall brew.

Tap at Flatbread Pizza in Portland, ME.
Very little head, semi clear toasty brown reddish Mahogany color.
Nose darker brown malts, toasty, light musty toasty earthy malts and hint of earthy hops. Light overall.
Taste has some earthy fresh hops, like hops right off the vine, brown malts, earthy rustic toasty malt flavors, light tannins, earthy spicy hops fairly bitter with a bit resinous and slightly astringent on the finish, drier and little sticky.
Mouth is med bodied, dec carb.
Overall nice but not great, good toasty brown malts, earthy hops, it seems to get a bit too bitter but still a nice bite, fairly balanced and tasty.

On-tap at the Porter in Atlanta.
Pours a slightly hazy copper color with a one-finger slightly off-white head. The head recedes into a wispy layer on top leaving solid lacing.
Smells of large amounts of buttery diacetyl backed by moderate amounts of citrus and floral hops and lighter amounts of pale malt aromas.
Tastes very similar to how it smells. Slightly dry pale malt flavors with small amounts of toastiness kick things off and are joined almost immediately by slick and buttery diacetyl. Midway through the sip the diacetyl fades just a bit to allow citrus and slightly earthy hop flavors to work their way into things. The hops carry through before fading out into a moderately bitter ending.
Mouthfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with smooth carbonation.
Drinkability is OK. I finished my glass without a problem however I'm not sure about another.
Overall I wasn't a huge fan of this beer, nor am I of any beers with large amounts of diacetyl (ESB's excepted). I've had a few Peak beers now and I'm realizing that the diacetyl is intentional and likely based on the type of yeast they're using. This beer isn't worth seeking out but if you're one of those diacetyl fans than you'll likely enjoy this one if you see it around.

On-tap 10/8/2010 at Doherty's East Ave Irish Pub in Pawtucket, RI, served in a US tumbler pint glass.
A: The beer is a coppery brown color, with a short off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.
S: The aroma is of caramelized malts, a good amount of hops, some citrus and other fruits.
T: The taste starts out with a quick burst of grassy hops, then some sweet flavors of caramel, citrus and nuts come in. The malt character is hearty but not too heavy. The malt character is hearty but not too heavy. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly sweet.
M: Smooth and crisp, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.
D: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, mild kick, decent representation of style, it's a decent beer to drink for a while, but there are other fall seasonal beers I would pick first.

A - Pours a clear amber with brilliant ruby edges. Gorgeous spiderweb lacing.
S - Grassy hops on top of a bready caramel malt. The hops are fresh and clean. Gingerbread spice.
T - Follows the nose. Bready Butterscotch malt with spice hints throuought. Prickly grapefruit hops attack the tongue. Muted grapefruit flows through the caramel malt. The finish is dry and citrus and grapefruit.
Really well done. Very clean flavors. Hop forward for the style. Tea tannins come through strong. A solid drinker.

Served in a pint glass.
Appearance: Straight amber, light bubbles on the frame, with an initial head that is maybe 1/4" white right off the body.
Smell: light hops coming strong at first bit dissipates little quickly. Floral scent is there before taking a sip.
Taste: little bitter and and has a piney feel to it that will make IPA lovers appreciate a good brew. To call this an amber is just a compliment, it is very close if not already an IPA.
Mouth: medium to heavy carbonation, floral after taste just resets your palates after the first sip.
Overall: for what it's advertised it can be so much more. But still a very good brew and will buy again if I see. Salud!

Poured from a twelve ounce bottle into a pint glass. Pours medium dark amber with fluffy persistent white foam. Firm malty hop nose. Notes of pine. Taste is an interesting hop/malt blend. Really laces. Bready and earthy - buttery at times. Feels a tad glommed together.

Surprised I haven't had this one till today. Rather exceptional amber ale.
A - Pours a golden amber body. The head is fairly sticky with some good lacing.
S - The summit hops really shine on this one. Underlining bready and toasted malts.
T - First thing that comes to mind is how clean and balanced the hops are. They never really get too bitter but they don't blow your mind like a wet hop ale. Bready malts are light but provide for a semi-sweet finish. Surprisingly good.
M - Light to medium on par for the style. Could have sworn the ABV was a tad higher.
Overall peak really isn't the first name on my beer favorites (right now being founders damn their harvest ale is amazing) but it's a damn fine crafted beer that calls for seconds.

12oz into a red wine glass
Review right from the glass.
Pours a copper red with thin head that foams nicely around the glass with large bubbles and islands of film across the top.
Smells of toasted malts, carmel and toffee with nice citrusy and pine hop aroma, full on but not complex.
Tastes of pine hops with carmalized malt backbone, a bit of citrus comes through with a mid palate bitter and a hint of onion. A touch of dry soot on the finish with light dry citrus bitter lingering.
Light carbonation makes this drink almost like a cask conditioned ale.

Best before 4/2013.
Pours a clear dark orange with a foamy orange-tan head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy patches of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, onions, and lots of earthy and herbal hop aromas. Taste is much the same with a very earthy and dirt-like flavor on the finish. There is a medium amount of herbal hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp but medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty average beer based on taste alone with no real stand out flavors.

A: The beer is crystal clear copper in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high dense off white head that hardly died down and left lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: There are bright aromas of citrusy hops in the nose along with some hints of pine resin. There are some hints of the underlying toasted malts.
T: Like the smell, the overall taste is dominated by the hops and has flavors of citrus and notes of pine resin, the latter of which seems to linger through the finish. There is a light to moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and rather crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I found this to be a very enjoyable, drinkable and well-balanced beer. The hop aromas and flavors really set this apart from other beers in the style.

A: Pours a clear amber to garnet red in color with light to moderate amounts of gentle visible carbonation. The beer has a finger tall beige head that slowly reduces to a thin film covering the majority of the surface of the beer with a medium sized slightly thicker patch and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate aromas of toasted and caramelized malts with a nice citrus and spicy hop aroma.
T: The flavors of the citrus and spicy hops with light bitterness come out upfront followed the toasted and caramelized malts. There is a light amount of nuttiness and the finish is lightly sweet.
M: Medium bodied with light to moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth.
O: This is an enjoyable beer that is easy to drink - a good beer for the autumn, as the weather cools.

S. Lovely fruity malt scent.
T. A very nice malt flavor, a rye-ish undertone, There's a hint of dark fruit very faint.
M. Smooth with an ever-so slight tingle.
O. It has a very nice oktoberfest feel to it. A bit lacking on flavor, but refreshing.

A: Pours an amber color with a fingers worth of head and lots of little particles floating around
S: Definitely get the summit hops, which provide fruity citrus notes as well as a good dose of spiciness. Malts provide a light toastiness
T: Starts off with a good balance of hops and toasty malts, which continues through to the end. Hops are lightly fruity with a light spice/onion kick. Also get the distinct Peak yeast
M: Medium bodied with light-moderate carbonation. Soft and easy-going
O: A good beer to enjoy while the weather gets colder. Easy to drink and nicely flavorful. If you're looking for something different to throw into your fall lineup, pick this one up

A: This is a great looking beer. Pours a nice dark amber with a good sized white head that dissipates slowly. In fact, the head remained throughout the beer.
S:It has a slightly spicy aroma to me but I'm not very good a picking up aromas - a function of age and allergies.
T: This one grew on me. At first I picked up an aftertaste that was a bit bitter but seems to go well for this seasonal. (edit - I just tried this again - it just seems to get better each time I try it.)
M: Oh, this was nice. It delivered a lot of mouthfeel for not a lot of ABV.
O: This is a great fall seasonal. While it has been a bit warm here in NC in August some heavy rain cooled things down making this a great beer for the deck. The beer became more enjoyable as I adjusted to the taste profile delivered by the hops. Different, but it worked well with this one. I plan to get more before it disappears for the year.

Peak Organic Fall Summit Ale is a very clear amber ale with an off white head that fades to a bubbly splotch and leaves nice lacing on the glass. It smells delicious. It's all hops, spicy and fruity. It's kind of sweet in the nose, with notes of orange, taffy and... I don't really know! It's a solid and bold aroma. One whiff makes my mouth water. It's pretty light bodied and soft. It seems a touch watery, but the finish is dry. It tastes a lot like the aroma, but not sweet and a little more complex. It's resiny and toasty. There's an orange peel flavor that lasts into the finish, where it's joined by juniper to fade slowly after the swallow. This just goes right down. What a great session ale it would make.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle with an expiration date of April 2012. Sampled on November 17, 2011. I like how it looks with its handsome medium amber color, thin head, and moderate carbonation. Aroma-wise it is abundant with floral hops. It is so flowery, it reminds me of a garden center. And because of its hop explosion it is difficult to find much else in the aroma. That's not to say it's a bad aroma but it does not seem to fit the style. The body falls into the light-medium range. Like the aroma the taste is extremely hopped up. Am I drinking liquified Chrysanthemum? Or liquified Marigold? That's how flowery it is. A bit too much for my tastes, especially if one wants to define this as an amber or red ale. Oh, it's good 'n hoppy but it doesn't live up to the style in my opinion. I prefer my autumns to be nutty and spicy.

Lightly hazed terra cotta amber with a light beige head and nice retention. Not a lot of lace but enough to look good. Smell is toasted grains and faint butterscotch. Some bread and a nice crisp citrusy hops. Taste is bready malt and toasted grains with a good caramel malt sweetness. Finish is dry and well hopped. Some grapefruit skin and a bit of hop oiliness leaves a longish touch with a bit of toasted while grain bread. Feel is lightly effervescent and delightful with a medium weight and thickness that gives it a hint more body than the usual amber. A very good beer overall that blossoms well in the glass as it warms and is highly drinkable.

Poured into a standard pint a clear rich amber with a 1/2 finger off white head atop.Sarp citric hops intertwined with sweet caramel/biscuit malt, the hops reaaly jump wich was a nice surprise.A little thin in the mouth with again the sharp citric hop flavors hitting at the onset, nutty lightly sweet malt holds up well to the hops.Surprised at the hop presence in a good way,I think a unique fall selection.

The beer pours a beautiful amber color with a thick frothy off-white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is good. It has a dry, pale and crystal malt scent. It has a refreshing hop aroma. It's floral and it balances the aroma quite well. The taste is decent. It has a simplistic pale and crystal malt flavor. It's crisp and bitter with just a hint of caramel sweetness. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a medium bodied beer with good carbonation. This is a very drinkable beer. It's simplistic, yet really well balanced and quite enjoyable.

From the bottle into a Sam Adams glass.
Pours a very clean amber. Little lacing and head.
Aroma is tough to tease out. Slightly spicy malt, but nothing much else of note.
Taste here is the definition of average. The malts continue to be slightly spicy, with a little metallic bite on the finish. Slightly dry, but no notable hop flavors. Very clean and crisp.
The metallic finish sticks to the tongue. It's not entirely unpleasant, it just is.
Overall, a decent brew to have and share casually.

Poured into a pint glass. Reviewed alongside Cricket Hill Fall Festivus Ale.
A: Clear deep amber with lots of tiny bubbles and a two-finger, off-white, creamy head that diminished to an eighth-inch after a few minutes and then stayed. Okay lacing.
S: Caramel malt and fruit. Citrus hops.
T: Light sweetness and moderate hop bitterness. Caramel malt and floral hop flavor. Some spice. Finish is nicely balanced.
M: Light to medium bodied with lively carbonation. Smooth and dry.
O: This beer looked descent. The nose was a bit mild, but the taste and mouthfeel were pleasant. Solid amber ale.
