Notes:
King Crimson is an Imperial Red Ale that delivers a royal bounty of luscious, fruity American hops on top of a sturdy, deep red malt backbone. This beer is lavishly dry-hopped with Simcoe, adding a citrusy and piney flavor and aroma to the toasty, sweet malt notes. This special treat is a very limited Winter release, so enjoy it while you can!

10 oz pour on tap. It's a nice reddish amber color with a half inch head. The smell is caramel, butter, and toffee. I can't detect any hops, which is very disappointing for an "Imperial Red." The taste is similar to the smell, but even worse. So much caramel and toffee along with the bizarre buttery flavor that dominates the beer. This beer is FAR too malty. The mouthfeel is actually pretty spot on, but I had trouble finishing a 10 oz pour and I doubt I'll revisit a Peak Beer anytime soon (especially if this is their highest rated beer on here.)

Poured into large pint glass. Was reddish brown, clarity was pretty good. Was not much of a foamy head. What was there, was cloudy white. Did not get much hops, but a very strong malt smell. Reminded me of a barleywine with its strong dark fruit and sugary smell. Body and mouthfeel is good, bit on an acidic taste.
The taste is good, with the malt dominant. It is good, but wasn't what I expected on a hot FL summer day. I would have probably really liked it on a cooler night.

A: Pours out a clear, reddish brown color. Two fingers of tan colored head with low retention. Spotty Lacing
S: Sweet honey, with slight hints of pine and citrus.
T: Herbal and floral with a toffee malt backbone.
M: Medium carbonation and medium body that is slightly chewy. The beer seems a bit tannic.
O: It's not too bad. The tannic bitterness is very off-putting, unfortunately. Otherwise, the rest is solid.

From the foil-topped 22 fl. oz. bottle. Sampled on April 16, 2013.
It pours reddish brown with decent clarity and a full, foamy tan head that lingers throughout and leaves lacing clinging to the glass with each sip.
The nose is hopped up with very floral and flowery esters. Then there is also this cherry-fruitiness and inviting sweet malt note.
The body is a tad acidic but generally falls into the medium range.
The taste is much like the aroma with an abundance of floral (not earthy) hops and a difficult to define kind of fruity sweetness. It has a moderately lingering bitter finale bounced off a sweet kick. Well worth the $4.99 I paid for it.

Nice rich amber red with a bit of haze. Soft off white lacy head, lingering with time.
Nose is very piney and resiny, with a hint of sticky sweetness.
Deep malty taste with flavors of pine, almonds, sap. Finishes with a potent dry hoppy bite. Only the slightest hint of booze.
Rich and full mouth feel, appropriate for the largeness of the beer.
A really nice imperial red overall. Nice complexity combined with solid body, all for an steal of a price. Great for the fall or spring.

Into a nonic:
A: deep red yet clear body, two finger white foamy head that lasts for about a minute before dieing, minimal lacing
S: dry Simcoe hops coming through in a toasty piney way, slight citrus noted
T: dry sweetness, malts come through as the beer warms
M: medium, slightly sessionable as the ABV is hidden well, piney aftertaste, sticky finish, carbonation is only slightly felt
O: a whale that I'm glad I finally had as I've been looking for this beast for the past two years and to finally have it says its great for a higher ABV-ed red ale, if you like red ales with a little more alcohol, get this one

Pours a three finger cream head that fades slowly to a thin layer leaving a good lace. Cloudy brown/red color. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Earthy hop nose. Flavor is piney hops almost balanced with sweet malts, lingering bitter aftertaste. Higher ABV is hidden. $5.99 for a 22oz bottle from Market Basket Concord, NH.

Poured from a bomber into a tumbler pint, the beer is a bright, slightly hazed, ruby coloring with a solid, frothy, off-white head that clings closely to everything it touches. Aromas of tangy caramel, rich toffee, roasty qualities, and a touch of booze. Very distinct, powerful aroma profiles. Flavors are toffee first and foremost, with that tangy sweetness of caramel not far behind. Earthy tones help to bring the richness down a bit, but this is still a mouthful on the palate, with a strong booze characteristic. Wow. Nutty highlights with a touch of roasting, but both of those are somewhat overpowered, as well. This is a malt bomb. Very layered. Rich aftertaste, both sweet and roasty, and with a solid dose of resiny hops to clean everything up. The hops cleans surprisingly well, as a matter of fact, leaving a very palatable, balanced, slightly bitter finish. Very interesting brew.
