Pours a nice chestnut color with almost ruby-like highlights, decent sized foamy tan head dissipates slowly, leaves a few patches of lacing on the glass. Big caramel nose on this beer, some faint cocoa powder. Flavors are pretty robust, chocolatey, brown bread, faint coffee. Medium-bodied with some busy little bubbles. This is tasty, easy-to-drink, and a no-brainer at the dinner table. Good stuff!

12oz bottle, one of the selections in a mixed 12-pack currently available north of 49, in Alberta, at least. I'm becoming increasingly suspicious of American craft offerings that give no shrift whatsoever to marketing descriptions on their labels. Odd, and strangely hypocritical, yes, but true all the same.

This beer pours a clear, dark brickish amber colour, with two fingers of bubbly, tightly foamy pale beige head, which leaves a few tiny specks of islet lace around the glass as it hastily sinks away.

It smells of weakly caramelized bready malt, a thin generic nuttiness, very vague and misdirected cocoa notes, and weirdly herbal, earthy hops. The taste is mildly toasted bready malt, the faintest of caramel notes, stale mixed nuts, a bit of bland store-brand tea, and staid herbal, dead grass hops.

The bubbles are a bit peppy at first, but die down quite soon, the body medium-light in weight, and generally smooth in a rather unobstructed manner. It finishes off-dry, just, the malt so ineffectual (thank you, Mr. Graffin), and the hops hardly capable of taking any sort of advantage.

Another offering from this brewer that screams out shortcuts and dumbed down target audiences. The nuttiness of the title is way too understated, and the whole thing just seems too restrained, too afraid of putting it all out there for all to see. And thus it just becomes more proverbial dust in the wind.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass.

A: Pours a very clear reddish-brown color. A half-inch of creamy tan head settles into only a thin slip. A thin blanket of lacing coats the entire glass.

S: Thin caramel, tea-like hops, hint of lemon peel, touch of cocoa, vaguely fruity, lightly buttery. Not particularly aromatic or memorable.

T: Thin tastes of toffee, molasses, and caramel. Strong hit of herbal and tea-like hops. Buttery ringwood taste. Hints of cocoa barely pull through. Perhaps a light kiss of smoke. Slight toasted bread crust. Rising hop bitterness. Finishes with toast and crust and a gritty, earthy hop bitterness.

M: Medium bodied. Low carbonation. Smooth and creamy.

O: I haven't had this beer in years, but this is not at all what I remember. It's oddly hoppy and bitter, with what tastes like a strong noble hop presence. This hop presence is at odds with the buttery house ringwood taste. But the biggest problem is that it's desperately in need of a beefed-up malt bill. There just isn't enough backbone to hold everything together.

12 oz bottle poured into a snifter. Best enjoyed before April 2013.

A: Pours a clear copper with a 1 finger. Head sticks around for a minute before dissipating to a thin film. Leaves a little lacing on the glass.

S: Similar smell as the other Peak Organics in this mix pack. It is a soapy bittering hop

T: Good nutty taste with a backing of crisp hops. Has a sweetness to it as well as carmel. Could drink a few of these in a row.

M: Light body with a decent amount of carbonation. Pretty crisp finish.

Overall this a tasty one and probably my favorite in the mix pack I got. Could use some more body but it is one you can sip on all afternoon.

This is a poor example of Nut Brown Ale. It is watery, flat and has no body. It is very similar to Trout River Scottish Ale which is the worst dish water (not worthy of being called a beer) known to man. At $10.00 @ six pack, I can think of a whole bunch of better ways to use 10 bucks. The take away here is that there is a lot of room to start a micro brewery because this sucks!. This is lousy and there are better ways to make a quality beer.

Poured into a Magic Hat #9 pint glass. Notches on label indicate best enjoyed before February '13.

A- Pours a light brown color with a 1/4 inch off-white head that retains decently before becoming a thin ring around the glass's edge and a solid, thick sheet of surface foam. I like that the head sticks around throughout almost the entire drink.

S- Light toasty aroma with a (surprise surprise) nutty quality. Mostly hazelnut and pecan. Also a bit of milk chocolate sweetness and a tinge of hops.

T- Toasty malt hits the palate smoothly with some hop bitterness and a bit of alcohol in the finish. Has a slight glassy taste as well. Pretty standard brown ale flavor profile. Not as much nuts as in the aroma.

M- Kind of tight with medium carbonation and a body that's pretty middle-of-the-road for the style.

O- I think the only drawback to this beer is that there's nothing overly exciting or impressive about it. That being said, it's a decent session ale and one of the better organic offerings I've had.
